Yes, unfortunately Games for Windows Live will remain operational.
I didn't know people still played the original Xbox.
Bye-Bye old Mechwarrior. D:
People pay for Xbox Live, they pay for the service of having friends, etc not for servers. Friends are limited, they have blocked xbox games for online. You pay to get raped.
PS3, free online.
Original Xbox Live still worked? Every time i tried to activate my Xbox live account on my old Xbox it never worked, always wanted credit card bullshit.

Not for long.
This is retarded, on Xbox I understand. But on 360?

Rumor has it that the main reason is so they can increase friend's list space, which is a hard coded limit in the original Xbox live service. They're killing games for friends.

Halo 2 was the original reason for setting a limit to the amount of friends.

None of my friends have a 360 so this is useless for me.

I think he means that friends come to you and you play together on your xbox or something.
Dammit microsoft :argh:

so a PS3 developer says that they are looking at a different pricing systems and suddenly the internet declares that PS3 online won't be free?

A PS3 developer?
Read again:
In an interview with IGN, Sony's VP of marketing, Peter Dille, responded to a question about the PlayStation Network by saying that the company is considering charging for the service.
Sony's vice president of marketing.

So consideration means definately isn't going to be free?

Only a man and his dog play PSN, and it's soon going to be paid.
This is why I don't like pay games that heavily rely on the internet.

I wasn't commenting on that, I was commenting on who said it.
Does this include 360 Live support for original Xbox games?

Yes and there have been about three other posts that could have told you that.
In the news today:
Facepunch thread shows more money must be spent in public schools, particularly in the area of reading comprehension.

One of the reasons Xbox 1 support was cut was to allow more friends (100 is the max for the first console).
By the way, as an owner and avid player of both consoles, the 360's online is leaps and bounds better than PS3s. It is laggy as fuck for me playing PS3 online, but the 360 is seamless. PSN is frankly shit. The lack of system-wide chat of any kind is ridiculous, and it pisses me off.
There is a reason XBL is $50 a year; the service is amazing. I don't understand why people are up in arms because Microsoft is cutting off online for a console that has been discontinued for years, with no new games, to give a better quality service to the millions that are playing 360 games online.
I think it's a really fucked up move by microsoft. Killing multiplayer for everyone who likes these old games

That's because you don't play the old Xbox games online. I don't either but I still don't like this idea.
Who the fuck has more than 100 friends they keep in touch with constantly?
Who the fuck has more than 10 friends they keep in touch with constantly?
Not you, apparently.
Not me, that's for sure.
:banjo:
I could do with a bigger friends list as I'm constantly removing people and shit.
The Xbox 360 live have more to offer. Sometimes, when a product expire, you just have to abandon it and move on.
