I find it supremely stupid that such a thing is even worth considering in this country. It basically takes a dump on the Constitution.
It should've been rejected the moment it appeared.
Well, USA already signed ACTA too, the less popular internet murderer. Nothing happened.
France passed a law like this recently. Nothing apparently happened.
Still, sure, lets fight it.
The moment this thing passes, is the moment I leave this country. This bill could effectively kill the freedom of expression past forefathers fought wars for. Now we fight wars against our own people, it's fucking disgusting.
Fuck you congress, fuck you corporate America, and last of all, fuck all of the people who blindly support anything they're told to.
The internet belongs to the world.
I just had a thought, If Obama Passes this, he'd be known as the President who effectively Killed the internet. Think of what this would do to his campaign.
I wouldn't wish that title on any president, even ones I dislike due to what happens to the internet with it.
I think most likely, the bill will be vetoed by him. But yes, if the bill gets signed, say goodbye to the election in 2012, we will get another republican in the White House.
President Obama WILL veto this!
... right guys?

Ironically once it passes this video will be technically illegal.
Guys, please stop this. If it goes through in the US, it's political fucking jenga. UK, Canada, Australia, France, Germany, everywhere will want a piece of the censorship pie.
Wow.

This guy is talking out of his fucking ass.
It's all the same thing at the end of the day.
Apple and Microsoft have also joined the bill. http://www.joystiq.com/2011/11/20/apple-and-microsoft-join-nintendo-et-al-in-support-of-internet-c/
I'm legitimately worried.
We're fucked.
Also, this is the response I got from one of my senators.
Thank you for contacting me regarding S. 968, the Preventing Real Online Threats to Economic Creativity and Theft of Intellectual Property (PROTECT IP) Act of 2011. Introduced by Senator Leahy, this bill passed the Senate Judiciary Committee on May 26, 2011. The House companion version, the Stop Online Piracy Act (SOPA), is pending in the House Judiciary Committee.
These bipartisan pieces of legislation would authorize the Attorney General or an intellectual property right owner to take action against a registrant, owner, or operator of an Internet site dedicated to infringing activities. They also provide guidelines for preventative measures to be taken by operators of nonauthoritative domain name system servers, financial transaction providers, Internet advertising services, and information location tools, with respect to nondomestic or domestic domain names.
I appreciate the time you have taken to express your thoughts on this issue, and I will be sure to keep them in mind should the bill come to the full Senate for a vote. Please do not hesitate to contact me again in the future.
Sincerely,
Bill Nelson
Talk about canned response. Didn't even address the issue.
They never do. It's always the same shit.
If it does go through, the "Occupy" movement is gonna be more like "The Resistance" movement :v:
Everybody is starting to go against the bill.
Hell, even I'm against it.

I would hardly be surprised if it was an issue brought into the occupy protests, along with many more protesters.
Oh what, Nintendo, Sony, Microsoft and Apple are all supporting this bill
fuck all of them

They're tied into through the trade group they're apart of.
Irregardless of that fact it's pretty terrifying that there's as much support as there is for this bill. I'm legitimately worried it will be passed, and then within a year a good 60% of the population will qualify for a felony.
Similar to censorship in a communist country? I know no country that is communist. No, china is not communist.
I was under the impression that the Consumer Electronics Association was against SOPA due to a comment on joystiq.

I for one support Captain America with his movement against the superhero registration act. What Tony Stark did to Peter Parker was absolutly wrong and this bill not only prevents freedoms of the individuals (Such as perhaps the Punisher?) but also really big names. Plus I dont like SHEILD
Wait, wrong dumbass bill
Just have to fight fire with fire. If it does pass, you simply need to saturate the office responsible with pulling the trigger with millions of requests. Inability to process will lead to an ineffective implementation and it will be easy to justify against its existence.
Not to mention it is ridiculously easy to bypass their proposed "solution", all that this bill will lead to is a renovation in how we handle DNS translations, shifting away from the centralized system and moving to a more ad-hoc masterless system.
This entire bill is just a last ditch effort from a dieing industry trying to regain the control they once had. Little do they know that the loss of control is the birth of innovation. We need to eliminate the cancers and return not only our country to greatness, but our society as well.
I can see Sony and Nintendo, Even Micro$oft. But Apple?

Then you don't know apple.
Apple has a worm.
Microsoft, Sony, And Nintendo don't want people rating their shit so we can get a horrible buy. They can't stop me from knowing which is better since I have this other source called "Friends"
