mind you this has been in the making since the first international, 3 years ago.
Why do you have to pay to see this movie? Surely, that's a contradiction? :v:

no, it's free. the only thing you have to pay for if you choose to do so is a bundle that has a bunch of cosmetic items for dota 2.

That pack is an optional feature for DOTA 2 in-game items that are related to the movie or the players in the movie.
Quake 3>Dota 2
More like
Anything except maybe E.T on atari > any moba
I don't get all the hate, sure I might play the game alot and watch alot of the matches so that might be bias speaking.
For example, they never claimed that this would be about ALL e-sports and if you actaully read the description it exactly states what's it about.
Do agree on this "Ten years ago, competitive gaming wasn't even a thing."
But it was WAY smaller though, if you look at the prize pools and chances of actaully making a living out of it
But you are free to have opinions about things and movies are mostly subjective things anyway(not that you have to watch it) although it just disgusts me to see people not even bothering reading the description.
It's a trailer. I shouldn't have to go reading text descriptions. And when they feature stuff like "the definitive e-sports film" and "ten years ago competitive gaming wasn't even a thing" as their choices for how to represent this movie, it leaves a bad taste for anyone who hasn't been following this stuff.

Uh huh. "Free"
I don't like e-sports because it takes something I find relaxing, and makes it serious and stressful. I'm a person who likes goofing around and playing in unorthodox ways, so I hate even watching people play in a very organized and urgent way.
Holy shit FP you're going to collectively go bald from stress if a free movie about a subject you don't care about legitimately makes you angry.

that's for the premiere. viewing it online will be free, afaik. if it's not, then I will be damned

Stop being ridiculous, that's so you can actually go to a theater and watch it.

I can't believe that you all took a dumb joke ("Why is the premiere of 'Free to Play' not free? Hurr") at complete face value. :v:
I'm not actually illiteretarded. The OP quoted "Tickets are available at Eventbrite." The movie is titled "Free To Play". The trivial contradiction is funny, even if it's easily explained by the obvious facts of the situation.
What's the difference between traditional sports and esports
Football is equally pointless and those guys make even more money
there isn't one and thats whats bad. I think it's just as ludicrous to pay a football player millions of dollars to work for no more than 8 seconds at a time for only a few days out of the week.
I don't think some basement dweller should get paid to do something that the majority of the planet does for leisure, thats even worse than getting paid to play an actual sport.

A bunch of people play football for leisure too. The only difference is moving around and making a virtual dude move around. Both will continue to pay a ton of money because people like watching other people compete for some reason.

this is the shittiest argument in the world, "games are made for casual people!" people play sports leisurely as well.
"Ten years ago, competitive gaming wasn't even a thing."
Fuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuck oooooooooooooffffffff
Are these fuckers for real? Do they not remember shit like Tribes, Quake, Counter-Strike, Battlefield, C&C, Street Fighter? Holy fuck talk about being oblivious of the past.

no thats not my argument. My argument is "nerds shouldnt get paid for playing video games on a stream". I take issue not only with E-sports, but with people actually making money off twitch TV. It's the stupidest shit in the world.

I wouldn't mind this if they took a look at the Industry rather than the two teams.
I would have been much more interested in how the Quake/CS scene started rather than the MOBA scene because its pretty recent.
Should be titled DOTA2: The Movie.

These documentary people are spewing total bullshit.
this films actually set me on fire i cannot believe it
I'd watch this maybe if that schmuck hadn't said that thing about ten-year-ago competitive gaming.
I'd watch this maybe if that schmuck hadn't said that thing about ten-year-ago competitive gaming.
The guy who said the 10 year ago thing is Synderen. He's an ex-pro player of DOTA 2. He's in the movie for like 1-2 minutes or less and this scene may have been recorded several years ago. Stop ragging on the entire movie due to something one person they interviewed said. Especially when you haven't seen it.

but muh street fighter and counter strike

So I can't say I don't like a MLP movie if I'm a.) not a brony and b.) haven't seen it?
I question that logic.
