Esports is a fucking joke just saying aren't games ment to be fun? but Esports breaks the concept of that and says fuck it and lets play this game for 90 hours or more per week so i can be a pro who makes money yet not enjoy my favorite hobby because due to constant burn out i like playing dota 2 but i have no plain of going pro or ever really getting better if anything i'll just improve over time without really noticing.

So much anger in this thread over people enjoying competitive play.
holy shit, the trailer has been out for a long time, why the hate now? (probably because most of the people complaining didnt know about dota)

Like wow apparently I'm a sellout because I started making money of programming that was originally my hobby.
Everyone needs to chill the fuck out, nobody is going to win an argument about what is objectively fun and entertaining and what isn't.
Did one of those people just imply that in 10 years or so, competitive gaming is going to be just as big as football? Because that's so unlikely.
Competitive gaming is exploding and football is declining steeply over safety concerns and a general culture shift. Its still pretty unlikely.
Every movie about 'pro' gaming sucks. I think it's just as ludicrous to pay a football player millions of dollars to work for no more than 8 seconds at a time for only a few days out of the week.
This is literally worse than reading Youtube comments.

Welcome to: SH's uneducated opinion of "esports".
For christ's sake, I could choose to hate on a football documentary video as well!
what? did i say league is every Esport game what about css and street fighter? and freaking cod and halo..
you replied to someone saying "due to league of legends" you say people playing seriously is a bad thing due to LoL
what? did i say league is every Esport game what about css and street fighter? and freaking cod and halo..
these games don't have heavily enforced metas outside of the competitive scene though?
these games don't have heavily enforced metas outside of the competitive scene though?
cod doenst have a heavily enforced meta? who are you kidding everyone in game is using the most OP shit and abusing it after 2 months or more of release.
cod doenst have a heavily enforced meta? who are you kidding everyone in game is using the most OP shit and abusing it after 2 months or more of release.
i don't think you know what heavily enforced means then just because there IS a meta it doesn't mean you have to follow it
Esports is a fucking joke just saying aren't games ment to be fun? but Esports breaks the concept of that and says fuck it and lets play this game for 90 hours or more per week so i can be a pro who makes money yet not enjoy my favorite hobby because due to constant burn out i like playing dota 2 but i have no plain of going pro or ever really getting better if anything i'll just improve over time without really noticing.
there's a huge fucking difference between playing it casually and playing it competitively. that's where the difference in skill levels play in. players with lower skill levels won't cut it in the competitive scene, so that's why it's reserved for those who train and want to do well in tournaments. who's to say they're not still enjoying the game? just because they play it competitively doesn't mean they don't enjoy it. that's just fucking dumb to say, really. by your logic pro football players shouldn't find football fun, am I right?
Only 90s kids will remember this
Mech warrior All 5 of them > Dota 2
This is literally worse than reading Youtube comments.
How is my comment "literally" worse than YouTube. Do you automatically associate anyone who criticizes valve with shitposting
How is my comment "literally" worse than YouTube.
i don't get how this is criticism where is the critique?
I'm disapproving the fact that a creator of a free to play game is making a documentary on a free to play game they made.
I'm disapproving the fact that a creator of a free to play game is making a documentary on a free to play game they made.
the focus of the documentary isn't dota 2. the focus of the documentary is on 3 players, dendi, hyhy, and fear's lives before and during the international.
i wouldn't mind a documentary like this if it wasn't made by a gaming company
good thing valve is a microtransactions-based virtual hat making company erm, sorry, microtransactions-based virtual hat distributing company Seriously though I guess this is neat? I'll probably end up watching it months from now when bored and with nothing else to do.
no thats not my argument. My argument is "nerds shouldnt get paid for playing video games on a stream". I take issue not only with E-sports, but with people actually making money off twitch TV. It's the stupidest shit in the world. [editline]19th February 2014[/editline] yeah and thats retarded
"Chess tournaments shouldn't be a thing because its just nerds playing chess" "Poker tournaments shouldn't be a thing because all it is is fat people playing cards" etc [editline]19th February 2014[/editline] cooking tournaments [editline]19th February 2014[/editline] I can keep going
It's like /v/ all over again in here. I would have never expected to see such a shitstorm concerning the movie that was announced long time ago. It was already announced for a long time, to be a documentary about competitive players in the Dota 2 scene. The film is even called "Free to Play". Quit your whining, just because it doesn't have anything to do with Counterstrike and Quake.
there isn't one and thats whats bad.
