Never played an age of empires game. Or really any RTS game. What makes this one good?
if you have an aversion to RTS games in general, you won't find AOe2 any better than most others imho.
Coming soon for only $59.95 :suicide:

Edit: Guess I should have looked through the rest of the page before making the post.

I think they would be able to get away with that.
Microsoft being fucking awesome lately if they go through with this. Halo, and now this?

Official word is Halo's not coming.
But that could be just a coverup.
Maybe they're going to release a ton of back catalog titles soon?
or a Microsoft classic games pack...
Can't wait!
(I always wanted to make AoE II themed map)

ms are known for denying anything before they announce it
In the meantime I'd recommend checking out the un-official Forgotten Empires expansion. I've been playing it a lot lately and it's pretty good. Adds some new civs, tweaks, new AI playing styles, fixes and adds widescreen support.
Fucking love this game, we used to play it all the time in my old high-school as well but I kept getting fucked over by those Feudal rushes.
I wish I could learn how to do that as well, but I am terrible at the ultra-fast micromanaging and millisecond-precise building and resources gathering you need for that shit. I just like to chill and plan and build infrastructure, and then build a massive army in Castle and Imperial age (by which time I would be long dead in a game with my pro classmates lol)

Nothing shiny by modern standards, but it was a pioneer, goddamnit!
It's like the Ford Model T of the RTS world. It wasn't the first, but it was among the first greats.
They NEED to do this.
I remember playing LAN on the demo in school, fun times
Our gymnasium had pretty strict rules against playing games on school computers, but since the game was so old, it was really easy to install it via USB. And since all the computers ran XP and were set up on a LAN, the game worked flawlessly. We had massive multiplayer matches.
So many school hours wasted. This was two years ago.
Microsoft put Age of Empires 2 on steam they can relaunch Ensemble, 'cause they would bring in millions.

We didn't happen to be going to the same school? (ABB Industrigymnasium) :v:

Haha, no I went to Allerød Gymnasium, in Denmark :v:
I used to play Star Wars Galactic Battlegrounds a lot which I loved and apparently that was pretty much a Star Wars reskin of AoE2 so I'll buy it on Steam for sure
Oh my god yes, wasted so many days playing this. Can't wait till I can buy it.
What a coincidence ! I had a versus with my bro last night [sp]I beat him :)[/sp]
I'm sure they'll update it quite a bit, why even bother with achievements if they wouldn't?
Also, there's devs testing stuff.
ssshhhhh-hoh
Brilliant, still play this with my girlfriend and her brother, hope they let you increase your population cap though
Workshop support for custom maps would be nice
best multiplayer game type: regicide, on islands.
I guarantee you this is always hilarious.
Now it needs "Rise of Nations"
They should get age of mythology on there too.
I think I've already bought AoE 2 6 times trough time, a seventh won't hurt.
If this excites you all, you should probably check out the AoE 2 mod Fallen Empires, it's basically the best thing ever, it enables almost everything that has AoE 2 regarded as a last gen RTS, and all changes are optional so you can customize the content to your liking. Most notably is the 1920*1080 support and the new though when not on LAN laggy 1000 pop limit, it also regularly gets updated, the last being 17/2 '13 with ballances tweaks(say good bye to your teutonic knights) and bug fixes :)
AoE2 and AoM on Steam I would die a happy man. Please Microsoft I will love you forever.
