I miss John Paul II.
I have no problems with Christianity or religion, but the catholic church specifically pisses me off
Pretty much my thoughts.
The Pope's immunity could be challenged everywhere outside the Vatican. This isn't news.
Religion is stupid.
god damnit you fucking bastard. you realize what you just may have started? maybe YOU are stupid
I doubt the church of England will let this pass, unfortunately.
I have no problems with Christianity or religion, but the catholic church specifically pisses me off
Well, besides this, I have no problem with the Catholic church. It's the actual Christians I hate, because they're the ones who typically go around shouting atheist are going hell, hate protest, no gay rights, etc. Catholics are actually the mild ones, so it's unfortunate that their priest are doing this.
god damnit you fucking bastard. you realize what you just may have started? maybe YOU are stupid
It had to be said.
Jesus called for the separation of Church and State.
It had to be said.
its been said in countless other threads and this was actually a discussion on the Pope, NOT RELIGION AS A WHOLE! you bastard...

I just flipped out at my Christian friend because he told me Im going to hell and I cant be Catholic because I did one thing wrong... for the most part they are crazy fuckers compared to the Catholics at my school. they also tend to be the people who walk around door to door trying to sell bibles.
its been said in countless other threads and this was actually a discussion on the Pope, NOT RELIGION AS A WHOLE! you bastard...
But this is the Internet, where you have to assert your hatred for religion every chance you get.
what if britain arrests the pope paparazzi pics of the pope in cuffs lol
shit would go dooooown. damn England would be like Irans protests

I've never met one of these crazy "radical" Christians that most Facepunch users say they deal with every day.
In a 2005 test case in Texas that involved alleged victims of sex abuse by priests, the Vatican obtained the intervention of President George W. Bush, who agreed the pope should have immunity against such prosecutions because he was an acting head of a foreign state.
This is pretty disgusting.
Another reason I want to live there.
Where the fuck do you people live. I've never met one of these crazy "radical" Christians that most Facepunch users say they deal with every day.
This is what I'd like to know too.
Anyone know that the age of "consent" in the Vatican is 12?
The Pope is a king technically.
The Pope is a king technically.
But, I never elected him!

1. The Vatican is in fact an independent country, as of the Lateran Treaty of 1929. As such, the Pope is a Head of State, regardless of your feelings on religion. 2. Universal jurisdiction is supposed to be used for "crimes against humanity", ie. genocide, war crimes, etc. The only way you could charge the Pope with crimes against humanity is if he actively ordered rape to occur. 3. The Head of State has immunity from universal jurisdiction anyways, according to a decision by the International Court of Justice in 2002. Meaning that, should a British judge prosecute the Pope, BRITAIN would be criminally charged by the ICJ. 4. Cases of "crimes against humanity" should not be decided by Britain, in any case. The UN is the proper system for any prosecution.

Also, just fyi, protecting the church from scandal of any nature is included in the vows a cardinal has to take.
The pope hasnt killed anybody though... at least not that we know of.
He's implicated in what is effectively a paedophile ring. How does that effect your average man in the street. Jail time!!! :cop:

Are they going to invade the Vatican?

Fuck the pope. He's very wealthy, so he should pay for the visit himself if he desperately wants to come.
Doesn't mean it's right.
I think you just missed my point there.
