Didn't we just raise our debt limit again lol? 14 trillion something... It would be nice to loosen rules and regulations agaisnt business in this country so it will come back to it...
These should get more money:
)High-Speed rail system
)Education
)Research
)Studies into highway safety
Less money here:
)Unnecessary "upgrades" to current systems
)Bonuses added to bills for votes
The same amount:
)Military (excluding said unnecessary upgrades)
)NASA
Legalize and tax (or just tax more):
)Marijuana
)10% value added tax (10% on everything, from everyone=a lot)
That should be a good start.
I honestly don't know why they don't have the same VAT as the rest of the world. 10% of all US citizens spending is around 300 billion a year.
You pay $11 instead of $10 for Gmod and America would be out of this financial shithole in no time. Make it 25% and America just might return to its former glory.

How about no. Each state already has a sales tax; Illinois is 7% where I live. I pay enough taxes as it is.
I can't hardly find a dime on the ground without having to put it on my income taxes.

yes, because letting corporations run free is TOTALLY not what caused this mess in the first place.

Maybe you should go apply for a business license the booklet is only O' 2000 pages or more long composed of questions, rules and regulations.. Tell me would you do it?
So he's going to cut Agriculture but not stupid shit like "defense"
At least Obama is trying to look like he's doing something.

Missles are way more important than food.
Did you know that the government pays farmers to not grow crops? We don't maximize the crops we could grow, we have a lot of monitoring over the amount of food going into stores. We'll be fine.
Yes not cutting spending on defense is a little weird on his part (unless he did and I didn't see it).

I think NASA should get a lot more funding.

We're in a recession and you want to throw money at examining space rocks?
Don't get me wrong, I love science and space and all, but now is just not the damn time!
I think NASA should get a lot more funding.
yeah
they should spend my tax money trying to reach a rock.
in a recession.
no wait, fuck NASA.
"Oh shit, we need to stop spending money on stuff except for this and this!"
Yeah, uh huh, I keep telling myself the saaame thing when I'm in a financial crunch.
IT.
DOESN'T.
WORK.
There's ALWAYS something that comes up where you're like "OH FUCK, I need to pay to fix this!" or "Dammit, now I have to buy a new one of these!".
it employs people
there are other sources of money for school
The article says they are keeping pell grants, my thanks was sincere. I also use other sources of money for school, thanks though.

I like this. Although I would argue to spend less on military. The United States has an advanced military. Is there any reason why we should advance it any more (for the time being, 3-4 years)? I think the only upgrade we should pay for are to keep our troops safe, like investing into those huge roadside bomb resistant trucks.
so much for change

I think NASA and the Military should get far less spending. Both organizations are extremely inefficient and bloated. NASA has been pretty shitty anyways since the Cold War ended.
Also a 10% tax on "everything" is very regressive. You end up taxing rich people way less than poor people and that would hurt poor people even more(and they don't need an extra push into the mud).
Education I can agree with, education is way under funded and is one of the big reasons the USA is considered "stupid". In the long run better education for people(especially in low income areas) will help the economy and actually pay for itself.

I thought the recession was caused(in large part) by poorly run Government-Owned Corporations.
Also, what would you do Trotsky? You are so sarcastic I can never tell what you really think should be done.

Military funding doesn't just go into R&D, but maintenance as well.
God dammit I'm starting to really hate living in America.

That's funny, considering that you're incredibly lucky to live in America.

Considering the amount of legal and illegal immigrants trying to get into America I think you've still got a pretty fine reputation in the eyes of many, regardless of what us Euro-Elitists say.
NASA has been on a decline for a while now anyway.
Next time I'll make sure to take a lack of experience more seriously, cause I think it's really starting to show.

first of all, you're the guy who said Glenn Beck was the beacon of all truth, so you aren't really a scholar, are you?
Second of all, starting a new business is difficult, what do you expect?
and third, let me guess you know from experience?

"America: Less shit than most."
Yeah, that'd make a nice billboard...

Trotsky, I wouldn't mess with him. He's a tycoon!

What government run corporations?
You know, if we weren't in so much debt already due to that stupid stimulus bill, then this probably might have worked in the first place. However now that we are, it could trigger a "double dip" recession simply by decreasing net monetary flow.
Why didn't he reduce such funding BEFORE the stimulus is beyond me. Why doesn't we reduce spending on foreign countries that hate us is beyond me as well.
He's pretty pragmatic though so it might work.
What government run corporations?
I think he's talking about fannie mae.
I think he's talking about fannie mae.
Or Freddie Mac.
But he clearly stated before the recession. So he's wrong. And both of those prime lender corporations operate outside of the government's control (they're somewhat independent).
