Anyone can nominate anyone for the peace prize, dumb article.
•Members of national assemblies and governments of states
• Members of international courts
• University rectors; professors of social sciences, history, philosophy, law and theology; directors of peace research institutes and foreign policy institutes
• Persons who have been awarded the Nobel Peace Prize
• Board members of organizations that have been awarded the Nobel Peace Prize
• Active and former members of the Norwegian Nobel Committee; (proposals by members of the Committee to be submitted no later than at the first meeting of the Committee after February 1)
• Former advisers to the Norwegian Nobel Committee
Still worth mentioning I guess.
I believe it is time to cease the Nobel Prize tradition. It has become a parody unto itself.
It become a bought honor and a way to curry favor with politicians. It is no longer a prize for those who have better humanity through their creative endeavors and works.
I also do not think the nobel prize should be given to politicians, ever. Why? Politicians are usually the ones who have their hand in starting or pursuing war in some measure. That is part of their job,
It wasn't always that way.

What has trump done to bring peace in any aspect to earth?
What has trump done to bring peace in any aspect to earth?
Like I said. A bought honor.
It wasn't always that way.
While he did enact reforms, he did cause or try to stir up war. The prize is title "Nobel Peace prize". The point still stands.
It wasn't always that way.
The military-hero president that supported colonizing Cuba and the Philippines?
trump would be willing to join even more than Obama did
I dislike trump but he seems to be very US-centered, he's more worried about domestic issues than foreign ones.
Doubtful, he opposed the war in Iraq and was very vocal about that way before he was in politics. He seems more concerned with America than getting into more wars. His philosophy is build up a large military so you won't have to use it.
which is why "he'll quickly cut the head off isis" is like the second main point they make in his tv ad, right?
If Obama can join wars and still get one I don't see what the problem is.
Or maybe he shouldn't have gotten one either?

and make mexico pay for a giant wall.
[editline]3rd February 2016[/editline]
Or maybe he shouldn't have gotten one either?
i uh don't think there's much debate on whether or not obama should have gotten a peace prize, but in terms of actual peace I'd rather Obama get it than Trump.
Wow, it only took 5 posts for "HE'S HITLER".
You're right, Hitler had better hair.
Or maybe he shouldn't have gotten one either?
Gandhi never won the prize and Stalin was close to winning it.
Why people take these awards seriously is beyond me.

You do realize that nominations are sent by third parties and not by the Nobel Prize Foundation itself right?
It's like last year when some Russian corporation nominated Putin, the key thing to remember is that it's just a nomination and not something which has been decided.
If you read anything about who's nominated for Nobel Prizes (the science prizes or otherwise), immediately be critical.
From the Nobel Prize site:
Are the nominations made public?
The statutes of the Nobel Foundation restrict disclosure of information about the nominations, whether publicly or privately, for 50 years. The restriction concerns the nominees and nominators, as well as investigations and opinions related to the award of a prize.
Of course he deserves it, he's uniting all of us against a common enemy: Donald Trump himself!
You're right, Hitler had better hair.
I really hope Trump doesn't end up as vilified as Hitler. It would be total nonsense if a fucking hairstyle became taboo.
On the other hand, it would be nice to be able to grow a tiny moustache again.
Trump for Hitler 2016. Make America, and mexico and canada and south america and most of Antarctica great again!
