Hell yeah daft punk.
I think this might actually be the first album I will actually purchase in a long ass time. I mean listening to music on spotify is nice and all but there is just something about owning a physical copy.
That is of course assuming they haven't gone all digital or something.
rammeries
if they release a vinyl of this i might finally crack and start buying records and a record player
I can finally download RAM
I want daft punk to RAM my anus.

Then you will finally be allowed in the music section.

I'm sorry but the amount of "hipster" (I know you are joking but still) that this implies is beyond ridiculous
Converting 2013 heavy techno / electro music into Vinyl and playing it on something that could probably be used to knit yourself a woolen sweater is not reverse engineering, that is dark age engineering :v:

i'm actually 100% serious there's something alluring about vinyl records for their novelty, it has nothing to do with me being an audiophile. i just think it'd be a neat item to own, and it'd give me an incentive to actually own some music
Ill be grabbing a physical copy, I have a little space on my shelf at home containing all the physical CDs and DVDs Daft Punk have released.
I've never really understood the absolute excitement from people for Daft Punk's old music. I love their later stuff, but everyone thinks because of their old sample-based music they're the gods of Electronic, especially since a lot of their old music is literally looped existing songs.
With that said I loved Human After All, their Tron: Legacy Soundtrack - any of their not-so-heavily sampled music - that stuff is great. I'm definitely going to have to check this album out.
because most daft punk fans don't realize most of their old stuff is just loops of old songs. daft punk is still really cool but yeah its funny how people praise them as gods of electronic music and then cry when someone like kanye chops a soul sample

I'm with him on this, there's something there about vinyl records that make owning them a sort of treasure. Perhaps it may be due to childhood, but I too like the idea of vinyl records, even in this day and age.

yeah this is why i buy records. my dj setup is all digital but its a satisfying feeling having a little shelf full of your favorite albums on vinyl. its kinda like a collectors item, gives you a reason to buy your music and support your fav artists rather than just download it.

It's proven that Vinyl sounds superior than M4As and MP3s though.
And thus the thread turned into vinyl discussion.

Wasn't my intention really.
I'm just happy that one of my favorite techno groups is making a new album
I'm tired of hanging out into a club with my mates and hear the same old songs over and over again, or even worse, have to endure sitting hours in the brilliant ear rapage that is dubstep.
have to endure sitting hours in the brilliant ear rapage that is dubstep.
I'm really not going to say anything about that statement.
It's proven that Vinyl sounds superior than M4As and MP3s though.
up until you play it X amounts of time
I'm really not going to say anything about that statement.
Well not all of it. Just the more hardcore ones that sound like a subwoofer under a tire burnout.

I myself enjoy Daft Punk, but they are some of the most overhyped stuff out there.
I've never listened to daft punk. Should I?
nah
I myself enjoy Daft Punk, but they are some of the most overhyped stuff out there.
They actually have a lot of songs. Only a handful are overplayed.
Indeed.

I meant I liked this song and whatever Daft Punk film it was a part of. I like a lot of other songs that aren't heavily looped samples as well.
ugh why is this sped up
It's proven that Vinyl sounds superior than M4As and MP3s though.
not really
that might have been the case a couple years ago when digital audio was still advancing but at this point digital files sound just as good as vinyl
start with alive 2007, it's their best work.
alive 2007 is way better if you listen to the first three albums beforehand though.
not really

Now you've done it.
Now you've done it.
i don't think what i said is controversial to anyone that actually listens to vinyl
maybe if you dump tonnes of money on a ridiculous hifi audio setup and get a brand new record that was mastered specifically for vinyl it'll sound better than the digital counterpart but tbh when i throw a record on my decks and start listening its almost exactly the same but a bit "warmer"
It's proven that Vinyl sounds superior than M4As and MP3s though.
Depends. This album was likely sequenced and produced on a computer. As a result there is no uptake in quality from digital to analog, however the vinyl has the ability to replicate a 24-Bit master (assuming the album was mastered in 24-Bit, which it likely was) where as a CD is 16-Bit no matter what (I know you said MP3/M4A, but I think the argument of CDs is more relevant in this case). The difference between 16-Bit and 24-Bit is difficult for almost anybody to properly differentiate without very good hardware and a trained ear (trained less in casual listening and more so in actual audio production). A vinyl will also naturally have surface noise, many people like this aesthetic, but if you are honestly a "purist" the CD will be closer to the master in that regard.
I know this isn't super relevant to the discussion but I just wanted to clear that up.
Daft Punk are cool, not my favourite producers but I'll certainly be picking this album up.
ugh why is this sped up
To prevent YouTube's ContentID system from detecting it. Same reason video clips are sometimes flipped.
You guys arguing over placebos
not really

placebo effect makes vinyl sound better probably
