I have never really liked them, sure a few of their songs are catchy, but the song I heard from this album sounded really cheesy, much like most of their songs. They don't really appeal to me.
While we're on the subject of the works sampled in Daft Punk's music, this one has to get posted:

Bit low quality, but whatever.

wow this is great.
I'm kind of ashamed I heard that sample first by.. daft punk.
I'm not against sampling but it has to be done tastefully, this is a case of literally stealing it and passing it off as their own. There is literally nothing more they did apart from repeat it and add a few other things.
May as well be called a remix.
i'm actually 100% serious there's something alluring about vinyl records for their novelty, it has nothing to do with me being an audiophile. i just think it'd be a neat item to own, and it'd give me an incentive to actually own some music
i like vinyl just because i really enjoy putting the platter on the turntable and then just going to bed; sure, you can set a playlist in Winamp that doesn't repeat and then go to bed to it, but i dunno. the turntables just have more soul
definitely not a hipster thing

The second track sounds a bit off.

Didn't someone a while back make like a 5 minute song out of the previews?

That's kind of why I regard Homework to be my favorite album of theirs. It involves a lot of very deliberate sampling, but not so much using a single sample as the entire track (High Fidelity). That album is the reason I got into microsampling a la VHS Head, Akufen, Jackson and His Computer Band, Mr. Oizo, etc.
I hope they go back to their roots and make this album more like Homework.
Discovery and Human were good, but honestly they seemed like "lets make some great singles and then some filler songs to make the album full length!" not saying those filler tracks aren't bad, but you can definitely tell that some songs are much more quality than other on those two albums.
Homework flows as an album so well, and you can just listen to the whole thing so well.
A cd has like 1320kbps but when you get a typical mp3, even when ripped from a cd, you get a file that has a range like 16khz and a kbps of 320 at best.
CD bitrate is 1,411 kbps. The frequency range of an MP3 will vary depending on encoder setting. At 320 kbps and default settings, LAME will cut-off frequencies above 19 kHz (which is more than good enough).

are you serious?
discovery flows from beginning to end perfectly, and each and every song is great

i feel the opposite about homework lol, the whole thing is grating
I never could get into daft punk really, but I really want to. Their music is just too chill for me.

You seem to have a very unusual definition of "chill".

Homework and Discovery are two very different albums
I prefer Homework because I love the grit it has, but Discovery is great too, almost just as good.
If previous reports are correct, the album will feature Giorgio Moroder, Nile Rodgers, and Panda Bear.
Yeah. Cola Bottle Baby they took the best part, gave it a whole new feeling and groove. They didn't do the same to Robot Rock except relabel and reintroduce it as hard electronia. Such a shame they couldn't give it the same love and care imo.

Got really sad when I heard their soundtrack to "Tron: Legacy". I mean it was good stuff, but it was far away from the sounding that got me listening to them in the first place. So I just hope they will come back to their old sounding with this album.
Tron: Legacy wasn't supposed to sound too Daft Punk-y - it's a soundtrack for a movie. It was something completely different and I loved it.
Good point, but I still expected them to keep their unique sounding. Not saying I didn't like, I just expected it to be somewhat more "Daft Punk-y".
Shit, first exam starting on 22nd, and on the subject I hate with my whole heart. I think this whole RAM will be stuck in my head for whole exam. Oh well, I don't need a good grade at latvian language that much, anyways(moving to study in UK this summer).
But even more seriously, I fucking love Daft Punk, and I can't wait for this album.
oh shit, RAM got leaked

People who leak albums are such bad sports. (not an attack on you but the uploader)
