Sure it's not a perfect bill. But dang if it isn't a great start for world wide legalization.
What about us Californians? Now we are stuck with this crappy bill, and as someone posted in the DD Thread " Other states might copy the CA bill."
Excellent, I don't smoke weed, but I know this helps the police department out if it is legalized, and they don't need more paperwork & shit than they already have.

So as far as I can see, the bill makes 1 ounce having legal, which is better than how it is, if only by a fine. If other states adopt it, it'd be a big change for them, since in most states (I think) you can be arrested for having marijuana at all
Watch out! Weed will kill you!

I guess, but i say we should wait until a better comes along.
I'm in favor of it, but they have to make sure to do a good job of regulating it.
Think about it, we could have twice as many DUI cases.

Have there even been any DUI cases where the person is just stoned and nothing else?

This is a gateway bill, heh.
This is great news. I can't find any logical reason why cannabis shouldn't be legalized, especially when 80 proof liquor and pharmaceuticals are readily available to the public.....hell, people buy that shit without batting an eye. Let's hope it gets legalized, and the trend continues across the rest of the nation.
Because it's a universal medicine which you can grow in your own house for minimal cost.
I don't see why Federal law matters more than state law, I thought the states were allowed to have the freedom to make laws as they saw fit?
Supremacy clause, dude. If it's illegal on a federal level, the state has no right to stop federal enforcement of the law. All they can do is discontinue state enforcement of the law.

Isn't it supposed to be one of the most nutritious plants ever or something
Isn't it supposed to be one of the most nutritious plants ever or something
The seeds are super nutritious, I don't know anything else about that though.
It's also the strongest natural fiber.
Omfg did you just change boobs to ass, go back dude!
I'll have to find a better pair of boobs then. I'm still in the settling phase because I've had the same avatar since I'm been a member.
Because it's a universal medicine which you can grow in your own house for minimal cost.
There is a big issue though with home growers when they put their plants into mass production. It's awful when people do that because they use cheap stuff and it causes a huge mess. There is a good segment on it in a documentary.

There's probably been a bunch.
Pot is a depressant, it slows down your reflexes. A car crash waiting to happen.
Marryjuana killed my mother and raped my dog

uh you know it's illegal to drive under the influence of just about anything right,
I just hate the argument for why it is illegal in the first place. For some reason it seems like the government is an oppressive parent using that unsatisfying fallacious token of ignorant parenthood: "Because I said so."
"You know, that marijuana helps a lot of people. It's medicine for some, and fun for others. It's less harmful than cigarettes OR alcohol. It could be used to make lots of money for us. It should be legal."
"No."
"But, why not?"
"Because I said so."
I wonder how bad the taxes are going to be on it if it goes through.
My guess is 15%.

Pretty much. It was banned in the ~1920's because they believed that it led to violent behaviors and had negative side effects, but then some states started running tests and found out that there were no real negative side effects. But the National government was still butthurt about it so they didn't want to over turn their original ruling.

I'm opposed to this law, I wouldn't support it. I could care less what people do to themselves, its their choice and I have no part in it. I just worry about people under the influence getting into cars and killing people because they're driving impaired. :frown:
Irregardless, I'm interested to see how this turns out. I think the US will go on another hippie period if this passes nationwide. Huge revenue though, safer because its regulated. Still worried about the risks of driving and weed. AFAIK weed impairs driving and judgment, please tell me of any mistakes.

so do you support banning alcohol because that happens wayyyy more than marijuana. ps it's ALREADY ILLEGAL to drive under the influence.
weed doesn't impair driving/judgment the same way alcohol does.
Tell me how so its less impairing. Im open to everyone's input, just want to understand how this all works.
Again, my concern is that it adds another danger to the irresponsible people. If people do it responsibly thats great for them, I have no problems.
Food companies would profit so much do to the munchies. Actually a lot of companies would profit off of weed in some way or another.
I hope they don't do this in Aus, only becasue the toilets are already hard enough to breathe in at school.

There was an article here awhile ago that said weed has little effect on driving skills. Here it is.
HARTFORD, Connecticut — Marijuana has little effect on driving skills, according to a new study by Hartford Hospital and the University of Iowa Carver College of Medicine. Researchers hasten to add that this does not imply that it's safe to drive under the influence of the drug.
It's probably not smart to drive under the influence of anything but weed doesn't screw with reflexes or attention that bad.
My friend drives high sometimes and to be honest I feel safer than when he's sober. When you're high you're scared that you'll crash so you become more cautious. Of course this only personal experience and my friend is pretty responsible so I can't speak on behalf of everyone.
I do not support this law as it's not really legalization, it's just more rules and felonies. Everyone needs to read the initiative properly because if you go down into the law itself, it starts sounding worse and worse.

Doesn't change the fact that people still drive while intoxicated.
Smoking weed as of now is illegal, does that stop people from doing it?
I kept on telling people that prop 19 would get massive support from the same black people and mexicans that made 8 pass.

Thanks for that info. Made it a bit more complicated in my decision because
now its not all black and white. I guess what happens happens, I wont benefit from it nor suffer (well at least I hope).

Smoking weed as of now is illegal, does that stop people from doing it?
If I read correctly, I would say it wouldn't matter if it was against the law or not to use weed when driving, for example. People would still do it, like how people still drink and drive. Im not concerned about the legality of A or B, just how it effects those wish to stay safe from possible side effects. If that makes sense. Its 2:30AM...

I don't know what you said but I'm sure it was really dumb.
