So excited about this! I hope this is the one they were talking about Sylux making a return in.
I hope gameplay designs and features will be better implemented than in Last Light. I was really aching for a magazine/ammo check function in Ranger mode because of the lack of a HUD. It was infuriating not being able to sit down in a relatively safe area and checking how much ammo you had for your guns. The only way to get an exact number was to be at an ammo exchange vendor, and those were few and far in between throughout the campaign.
I am pretty sure you could check total ammo by bringing out your journal. At least it works that way in the Redux games.
Metro 2035 book turned away from stalkerish concept of previous books and took more political approach regarding Russian politics with overview of past and future life of common people. It has less attention on Artyom [sp]Risking his life, he tries to get in contact with surviving countries via radio channel, setting up an antenna on the surface, but he never succeds.[/sp] In the end it turns out that [sp]all russian politicians live in a lush bombshell with futuristic equipment. Common folk has to live as pigs in metro and if their population will get to high they can easily be killed. And hansa, guided by those politicians, had set up radio signal jammers (that's why Artyom can't contact anybody). It is implied, that Russia was first to start nuclear war and lost. And by jamming any signals, they cover up their current state from countries who won this war.[/sp] Anyway Metro game series where never true to source material and I see them as a different take on the same theme. Both books and games are worth looking into.
[sp]Reds are dedz. The Nazis can't stand up to Hansa, they have nowhere near enough men or economic power.[/sp]
Yeah I meant Hansa not Reds.
This would probably be a good time to mention [sp]Bourbon is still alive[/sp]. Fingers crossed he comes back.
This would probably be a good time to mention [sp]Bourbon is still alive[/sp]. Fingers crossed he comes back.
crikens Uncle bourbon got me to play the 1st game, surprisingly enough
This would probably be a good time to mention [sp]Bourbon is still alive[/sp]. Fingers crossed he comes back.
[sp]I've read the first book, and played both 2033 and Last Light a ton. Is this from one of the later books?[/sp]
[sp]I've read the first book, and played both 2033 and Last Light a ton. Is this from one of the later books?[/sp]
[sp]it's from a background conversation in one of the DLCs. afaik in the books he's pretty conclusively dead as fuck[/sp]
I am pretty sure you could check total ammo by bringing out your journal. At least it works that way in the Redux games.
Ah, that was not present in Last Light.
Ah, that was not present in Last Light.
You can see your total ammo number in the original last light as well, just not if you're playing ranger mode. [editline]8th November 2016[/editline]
if the game follows the "good" ending of the 2nd game then i'm not sure how you can shovel in a 3rd game without ruining it
Just incase anyone has finished Last light but not played the Redux 2033 or read the books. [Sp] The ending where D6 is saved by the dark ones is the cannon ending for the games, Metro 2033 redux's main menu shows Artyom, Anna and his child in his office some time after last light [/Sp]
[sp]it's from a background conversation in one of the DLCs. afaik in the books he's pretty conclusively dead as fuck[/sp]
Thank you, because I was wondering how that's possible when [sp]for me, his 'I've died, there is no more me' is the most memorable scene in the book. I guess they could say he actually survived being shot up in the game, that's a little less of a stretch than being killed by the tunnel anomaly.[/sp]
I should reread the books now that they've been officially translated to English. And find a fan translation for 2035.
I should reread the books now that they've been officially translated to English. And find a fan translation for 2035.
The translations are not great. They're very literal, which has its strengths, but the language is very stilted sounding and stuff like Russian idioms are left in their original (seemingly nonsensical) form.
Why get a fan translation? The book comes out in a month.
Isn't this just the VR facebook exclusive?
The Metro games are probably the best FPS I've played. Very memorable games and immersive.
Why get a fan translation? The book comes out in a month.
Can't I just pay a Russian-speaker to read the game to me over Steam? The rate will be one steam game per chapter.
Isn't this just the VR facebook exclusive?
That was Arktika.1, which was announced last month.
The Metro games are probably the best FPS I've played. Very memorable games and immersive.
They are some of my favorite games of all time for sure. I've been waiting anxiously for even a hint at the next game for years.
Was I the only one who misread the title as "Metroid" and had their heart skip a beat.
I bought the Metro Redux bundle for 15 bucks for the PS4. That includes both games, plus all of the dlc for free. It was such a good deal.
If [sp]Artyom's kid[/sp] is the protagonist of the third game, I imagine the game would be called something like "Metro [sp]2053[/sp]". Assuming the stations haven't killed each other off by then.
Giving how Metro 2035 ended there's not much reason for Artyom or anyone close to him to [sp]return to Moscow other than to burn everything and kill the politicians. Besides long trip from Vladivostok back to Moscow isn't worth it.[/sp] If anything I think this is going to be about war against Vegan Empire in Saint-Petersburg. Or maybe Raider Wars in Emerald City. Great Britain would be nice too.
Theres a branch of their studio where I live and I met a dude who told me he's a 3D artist working with them. He told me it will be open world. I think he was legit, didn't seem like a person who would be pulling my leg. If so it will be an interesting different approach to the game, but there are drawbacks to that design choice, and turning a fairly linear story-driven game into open world territory can easily go wrong.
I just wish for more exploration. I want to see more stuff like the first time you go to the surface in Last Light and you pass through the staircase with lots of deceased people on it with their last messages on the walls. As a Russian, those messages got me really good.
hope they return towards 2033 style gameplay in the third game rather than the simplified and boring last light & redux style, but it's probably not going to happen
Deep Silver made a statement stating there will be no new Metro game in 2017
You may have seen recent reports that a new Metro game would be released in 2017. Deep Silver has released the following statement. As the exclusive rights holder to videogames set in the Metro 2033 universe, Deep Silver has ambitious plans for the hugely successful Metro series. But just to manage our fans' expectations - releasing the next Metro game in 2017 is not one of them. When we have more news to share, we will. Thank you for your patience.
http://www.twitlonger.com/show/n_1sp9f2l
Deep Silver made a statement stating there will be no new Metro game in 2017 http://www.twitlonger.com/show/n_1sp9f2l
A 2017 release date isn't mentioned anywhere on the site for a new book. It just says there will be something about a new game in 2017, it doesn't say that's when it'll actually release.

Is there even an English version of 2035 available? Especially the fact that 2035 apparently covers the political edge of the series interests me.
