30 second google produced: http://www.hardcore-games.tk/wp/old-games-no-win8.php Its well known that there are game incompatibilities (primarily regarding DRM, how about that) with Win8.
This list is completely wrong. I have most of the games listed and they work perfectly fine. Best part is that the list says Just Cause 2 doesn't work unless its the Steam version. Its a Steamworks game, there is no non-steam version that isn't a pirate copy.
Only took 3 posts before you turned this into a Win 7 vs Win 8 thread, gg
Are you telling me people might discuss the versions of windows in a thread about windows? My mind is blown.
You don't have to? That doesn't give you the right to complain about win8 though. You can complain when you upgrade and find problems, you can't complain if the upgrade isn't affecting you. Shit, if anything it's saving your money. Quit bitching about things that have no impact on you.
My complaints are directed at the "you hate it cause you haven't tried it" and "its only 15 bucks and it performs so much better*" crowds. *while benchmarks do show an increase in performance in many areas and operations, most were either so small that its negligible or were shown to perform worse. Additionally, all of these benchmarks were done with new, clean, fresh systems with no additional data bogging them down. All current benchmarks fail to show any aged system running win8.

Hardware isn't ready for Windows 8 machines. Can't throw a tablet OS onto a laptop and call it good. P.S. posted from a Windows 8 machine - it "works" but to outright deny it's designed for touchscreens is like saying Hitler loved Jews.

I run it on both my laptop and desktop, and I don't even think about it being different.
Well yeah. People are overreacting about it. Like, a lot. But their reactions aren't completely unjustified.
Everyone that has something against my opinion has to be misinformed!
It is a fact they're misinformed, because the only part of Windows 8 that is like metro is the metro window/metro apps. Unless they're talking about Windows RT, but they usually aren't.
Well think about who the average consumer is, Metro scares them. They're gonna want what they're familiar with.

Dude I love Godwin's principle. I try to enforce it whenever possible.
The reason I didn't get Windows 8 is because I've seen a bunch of game mods that don't work on Windows 8 but work on Windows 7, and after hearing everyone else say all it does is make it a bit faster, it's not worth it in my opinion, especially since I'm using those Windows 7 only mods right now, and they're very useful.
"You're wrong because I said so".
It is a fact that the Metro screen is only a small part of Windows 8. Many of the Windows 8 haters favorite criticism is the claim that you are always stuck in the Metro interface. It is a fact that you are not always stuck in the Metro interface, and only open it to start programs or use Metro apps. Thus, it is a fact that those people are misinformed. How can you possibly disagree with this?
Well think about who the average consumer is, Metro scares them. They're gonna want what they're familiar with.
Familiarity is really a problem. The argument "you don't like it just because it's new" is really not a great one to use in a debate, but when it comes to society it fits very nicely - there's a reason why people go applebee's, McD, Burger King instead of proper restaurants, and why people play Call Of Duty. People in general don't want to make the effort to get their head around new stuff, even if it's better. I'm not arguing whether Windows 8 is better or worse than 7 (I'm pretty sure I've made my stance clear anyway), but familiarity stands in the path of innovation - people get pissed when just a few controls are changed or whatever, just look at the outrage over Final Cut X (though that had something to do with the project format as well).
Is it actually worth the hassle and cost of changing from 7 to 8. Becuase frankly I don't see any reason to change. Unlike changing from Vista to 7 becuase frankly Vista was a broken mess.
Idort master race here. I am running win7 on my laptop and win8 on my desktop.
Just me or a lot of subtle supremacy here?

And Microsoft could have moved more units if they just had both options, and then spergs wouldn't be going back and forth about which is better on an internet forum.
People who say "the entire W8 OS is like the Metro UI" aren't misinformed?
What you're saying is that all people who don't like Windows 8 are like that.

If you're in it for performance upgrades, you'll find the boosts are only noticeable during boot, sleep, and shutdown. And even then, this is with a fresh, modern system and a fresh, brand new install. So your boosts will last... 3 months. and then the only new thing is the interface changes.
The only time when it was worth upgrading to 8 was if you were still on XP/Vista or when it was $15/free (and it still is if you have a Dreamspark account.)
What you're saying is that all people who don't like Windows 8 are like that.
Are you hallucinating?

As for faster bootup, I don't really need that when my current pc boots up in like 15 seconds.
The only time when it was worth upgrading to 8 was if you were still on XP/Vista or when it was $15/free (and it still is if you have a Dreamspark account.)
Okay, yes. I agree with that point. It was a cheap, legal way of bringing yourself to the current generation of Windows.
There's no point to upgrade from 7 to 8, 8 is literally almost exactly the same as 7
I was about to format just as W8 hit so I figured I might as well get that instead. I don't regret it. Especially not with Start8. I got a sleeker and faster Windows 7 (W8 boots in ~30 seconds instead of several minutes.) and if I feel like it I can fiddle around with Metro too. (And I got it for free from my Uni anyway)
What you're saying is that all people who don't like Windows 8 are like that.
Actually no, he did state the specific group of people who's specific complaint was "windows 8 = metro" was the actual uninformed group.
And that boils down to Microsoft's inadequacy of really showcasing and informing everyone about what Windows 8 really does.
it wasnt a big flop
based on my extensive resarch of windows 8, i can confirm it's for big fat dumbies because it's "made for tablets" and the fact that every other windows OS has been bad, fact. look at me guys i am good at compuer
