I believe Turtle Rock had their own office
They had their own office but Valve built the new one to have everyone in one place.
Good, Left 4 Dead was looking great until Valve took over and turned it arcady and simple.
It went from Horror Survival Co-op to Shootemup Co-op. Small changes like artstyle and weapon handling made a huge difference.

Holy fuck I agree with this so hard. The experience we got on release is nothing of what was planned.

Sorry to say but Valve made L4D what it is today.
Doesn't mean that the original concept couldn't have been a good game too.

Valve knows what they're doing when it comes to artstyle for sure, but I agree wholeheartedly that L4D could have been an amazing and complete game instead of the proof of concept it turned out to be. Honestly it felt more like a fleshed out tech demo on release than a full game.
Which is probably why I felt I'd seen everything it had to offer and was bored with it after a week and a half.

I hate this argument so damn much. It makes the arguers look like people who only play games for the "art" instead of actual gameplay.
I support "Art" games, but only when they were made for art in mind. L4D clearly isn't made for that.

I have to admit, L4D1 did feel like a tech demo at times.
Warhammer 4 Dead 2.
I think that would be relic games not THQ.
l4d: condition zero
Crossroads... Or whatever that game was called. Will end just as bad as L4D did...
Wait, so valve bought turtle rock, and then the entire development team left and reformed it? Seems pretty shitty for valve.

I doubt that everyone left. And they still got to keep the rights for l4d.
STALKER 2? Or was that supposed to land in 2012?
I think that would be relic games not THQ.
THQ has publishing rights to Warhammer 40,000, any studio under of commissioned by them can make a 40k game.
From that interview, I got the idea that their making a game based on multiplayer. Nothing more.
L4D was awesome, so it doesn't matter.
IMO, it got boring a week or 2 after buying it.
Same for L4D2, but with an even smaller life span.
I just pray that no one even thinks about doing a L4D3...
I put a ton of time in to L4D but because of that, I just couldn't get in to L4D2
I bought MX vs ATV: Reflex recently which was published by THQ
Best racing game I've played in years
Horrific console port tho. Runs like crap.
Hopefully this turns out well for them, L4D was a brilliant game, almost a shame it turned out how it did.
Uh guys, in the OP, its not that much text!
WHAT
You get hired by Valve to make a series of zombie games as a VALVE EMPLOYEE
And you quit to reform your unheard of development firm?
WHAAAAAAAAT

Runs perfect for me. I have it on the highest settings and it always stays smooth and my fans never even have to blow.
