well this an extremely defeatist attitude. even if complete equality is unattainable doesnt mean it shouldnt be striven for and moved towards
True, but you can't automatically claim sexism as the cause when some difference always exists naturally. This is why actual causal links are so important and not assuming correlation=causation. I highly doubt most social activists would argue that short people are more discriminated against than women, but that very well might be the case when it comes to the workplace.
Actually, I live in a very liberal area. I'm in Northeast US, which is one of the more open-minded areas of America. Granted, that situation was very weird and really stood out. But slut shaming and clothes shaming happens a lot across the country. I just wanted to say that I respect what you have to say below, but also that being told to "suck it up" is pretty modest compared to what feminist activists often have to go through. One of which includes hostile and confrontational males constantly harassing women offline and online. As well as creepy individuals acting as rape apologists. I get a free pass since I'm a male feminist, so I don't really have to deal with any of the negative perks of social justice. That isn't necessarily true for my feminsit friends who are women and work heavily within the feminist coalitions on campus. At first it sounds like it, but actually many Latino cultures have a major problem with misogyny within families. I hate him as a writer, but Junot Diaz's "This is How You Lose Her" really covers how Dominican society is so ass-backwards. Puerto Rican culture has a very similar climate, where patriarchy and misogyny run deep within family blood lines. My friend's story is pretty much mirrored across my college campus's Latino community. 4chan isn't the best example in some ways, but it's also a haven for misogyny, racism, and overall regressive social attitudes. To a certain extent, its flamboyancy towards being offensive dulls the blow. But, then again, 4chan wasn't the only place where she faced sexism based on her gender. Also thanks for agreeing that this was sexism. A lot of these were really upsetting to deal with throughout the year, so it's nice to see that you respect that they were shitty for the women involved.
How can anyone disagree that what you said is blatant and unforgivable sexism?
How can anyone disagree that what you said is blatant and unforgivable sexism?
ok. stop the melodrama
ok. stop the melodrama
You just love to argue about anything, don't you. I bet you didn't even read what I responded to. Everything he said that happened to his friend is sexism. Plain and simple.
You just love to argue about anything, don't you.
no, your attitude is seriously annoying
How can anyone disagree that what you said is blatant and unforgivable sexism?
Some people would. The guy that said that I was a superior feminist than women certainly would support the crap coming out of his mouth. My ex- friend would have tried to hide his misogyny and bruised ego by saying he just wanted to chat. I think a lot of people are ignorant about gender-sensitivity, which is where the problem arises. It creates a situation where women veer into MRA territory, and men condone rape culture because they don't know better. And there's a lot of men who end up supporting regressive policies because of that, and their internalized misogyny flies off the handle when they see a "feminazi." Even though feminists are, in the end, just fighting for gender equality.
no, your attitude is seriously annoying
Yeah, so is yours. Please stop pulling ad-hominem crap out of nowhere or leave.
Yeah, so is yours. Please stop pulling ad-hominem crap out of nowhere or leave.
ok. you use stupid buzzwords used by strict social conservatives and you're expecting to be taken seriously, then you have the audacity to make a fit when you're being questioned for being rude.
ok. you use stupid buzzwords used by strict social conservatives and you're expecting to be taken seriously, then you have the audacity to make a fit when you're being questioned for being rude.
Ad-hominem isn't a buzzword. It's when, instead of attacking the substance of my argument, you instead choose to go after the person arguing. Also, I'm very liberal socially, so don't even start with that shit. also, supreme Hippocricy.

And the woman who is saying "boo hoo" to suicide victims and people who die is pretty fucking awful.
Generally speaking, when men use the term "feminazi," it's because they've said something offensive and they don't understand why feminists are upset. i.e. "I told that funny rape joke, and that feminazi started yelling at me in front of all my friends. What an asshole." There are a very small amount of "feminists" out there who have a delusional grip on gender equality, but they're not so much "feminazis" as they are morons. Equating feminism to the actions of those women is like equating Islam to Al Qaeda and the Taliban.

no one cares about extremists except you its the dullest conversation in the world
This is pretty much what I said earlier, in that Extremists have nothing to do with the main groups but give them a bad name by association.
You should be smart enough to be able to make the distinction between extremists and non-extremists.
no one cares about extremists except you its the dullest conversation in the world
But everyone in California says he's a pedophile, I think that's a rather serious issue. The government, the man at the shop, that shifty looking ladybug over there
This is pretty much what I said earlier, in that Extremists have nothing to do with the main groups but give them a bad name by association.
The extremists don't give them a bad name. People who run around and assume all feminists are extremists propagate the idea that feminism is inherently extremist. In essence, it's the sexists who portray feminists as bad people. Same thing happens with Islam. It's not Al Qaeda's fault that we have stupid, moronic bigots. It's the bigot's fault. It's something caused by racism. It's not Islam's fault.
The ladybug talks behind his back.
if thats true then i dont know what to say i mean im not considered a pedo in california so idk what youre doing sicko
But everyone in California says he's a pedophile, I think that's a rather serious issue. The government, the man at the shop, that shifty looking ladybug over there
My cousin had to babysit his sister for a day and got pulled over twice by cops because people reported that he was with a little girl.
if thats true then i dont know what to say i mean im not considered a pedo in california so idk what youre doing sicko
Apparently every man in California is considered to be a pedophile, I think it was part of repealing prop 8 [editline]12th July 2013[/editline]
My cousin had to babysit his sister for a day and got pulled over twice by cops because people reported that he was with a little girl.
My cousin has a daughter and has never been pulled over by police for being with a little girl seems we are at an impasse, Mr. Bond [editline]12th July 2013[/editline] There are people out there who kidnap little girls and don't even get pulled over by the police so I don't know what's going on with your cousin
I think that people need to stop viewing men's rights as trying to REMOVE women's rights, some laws are sexists outright to either sex for example lack of abortion rights to females meaning they don't have control of their body and the fact that if two drunk people have sex then the man is automatically able to be viably accused of rape. (In the U.K)
I think you'll find that in a lot of those scenarios, the one calling rape would not have had sex with them if they were sober and the other person knew that and took advantage of them being drunk. I think you'll also find that woman are much more likely to have this happen to them than men. Yes it could happen and if the man reported it then the woman would be charged too.
that gave way bad face to everyone who disagreed with her campaign.
no the idiots that consisted of the people who disagreed with the campaign gave it a bad face excuse me i disagree with her but no-ones giving me shit about it, probably because i didnt sound like a moron doing it* (* = prob was sober )
ok, that's fucking great now, welcome to the real world where
what should be and what is aren't ever going to be the same thing, even in a first world country
as much as I'd love for women to not be at risk when they drink, it's simply inconceivable that it will ever stop being a problem.
So why is it on the Women to not get raped rather than the man to not be a despicable piece of shit.
Mens' Rights Edmonton is co-opting race now
The original “Don’t Be That Guy” campaign, which our posters are meant to parody, is rotten, despicable and unforgivable. There is no excuse for it, and the people who created it owe a big apology to non-feminist men and women everywhere. No, I don’t mince words, and I hope the public will appreciate my straight talk. If anything like the feminist treatment were dished out to an identifiable racial, ethnic or religious group other than men and boys, the perpetrators would be run out of town on a rail. Just imagine: “Don’t be that Jew!” “Don’t be that spic!” “Don’t be that dago!”
where's that big barf emote
Extremists sure give men's rights activists a bad name, look at that video game reviewer that got that kick starter, almost everyone took those rape/death threats made by 4channers seriously and that gave way bad face to everyone who disagreed with her campaign.
The difference being that MRA activism virtually always blames feminism (as you said yourself, you asked here in the forum when feminism was useful and how women were more oppressed than men). That's inherently regressive. Not to mention, rape/death threats are pretty disturbing no matter the context. Trust me - I got one from a girl once. It still upsets me. Plus, it's pretty shocking if your comrades in disagreement have to use rape and death threats in order to express themselves. That's an uphill battle that should force everyone involved to question why certain individuals feel the need to use those threats. [editline]13th July 2013[/editline]
Mens' Rights Edmonton is co-opting race now where's that big barf emote
How about this one instead :suicide:
Reminds me of how the "Tropes vs. Men" kickstarter guys ran away with the money :v:
I would rather have nothing than something even similar to the embarrassing catastrophe of whiny nothingness that was tropes vs. women.
