Chrome notebooks confirmed to be released June/July

For a moment, I thought they were making notebooks out of chrome, sort of like how Apply makes macs out aluminum.
I'd consider this solely for school. It's a bitch lugging my massive Gateway laptop around, it's more suitable for sitting on my desk.

Are there any free networks you can connect to instead?
this is useful for school but for anything else its a no to me

Chrome is not a real material, how can you make stuff out of it?

Chroming is the process of plating something with chromium. Chrome is not a physical thing.
Just putting that out there.
i love my cr-48
I probably won't get one.
But I'll dual-boot it with my laptop, if they allow me to.

The hardware refreshes also sound very cool, but I wonder what kind of "refreshes" and how much they will keep up with modern day specs
Google country, then sooner or later the Google Earth!

What do you mean? Chrome is used all the time in steel or or bathroom faucets.

chrome is a process not a material
I wonder if this is the direction the industry is going; towards service based business models. Could be eventually you can't buy devices anymore, only rent. It gives the provider a legal right to tell you how to use it, in addition to extra-legal incentives, like locking you out of updates.
I'm going to take a wild guess for everyone who wonders what happens if you don't pay -- it's a contractual agreement. If you break your contract, they send you a cancellation bill.
Either that or a deposit.
