YouTube testing a layout change that is actually good

Works well on my TV
Youtube Center's been doing that for eons, you can even make all the buttons (fullscreen, bigger screen, etc) do completely different thing like fit the monitor perfectly, resize to a different size that you chose, etc.
The only problem I have with YouTube Center is that it keeps messing up the position of annotations for me. That being the only complaint though, it's silly how YouTube itself doesn't have all these options.

Well the position of annotations is designed to be exact in the standard 480p resolution, if you increase the resolution to a much more comfortable 720p then the annotations aren't resized.
It's absolutely useless, and most of the time it's abused and gives people false impressions of a really good or really bad video.
who pays attention to the dislike bar
i forgot it was even still a thing
I've had this for nearly a month now, I thought it was for everyone and didn't give it a second thought since I liked it so much. Huh.

Exactly. What does everybody elses YouTube look like? (without any add-on extensions)
I hope they fix advertisements. I shouldn't be punished for supporting the video creator with a watermark [^] (made in order to see the in-video ad again) if I want to watch their stuff with ads on. Similarly, I hope that they fix the default YouTube so that the bar doesn't cut off a small portion of the video on the bottom when not in full-screen. That just is ridiculous.
Not perfect, but here's a few comparison images for people who don't see the difference.

then perhaps form your own opinion.
Personally, I've like pretty much every layout change that's been rolled out thus far.

People bitch too much about layout changes, honestly.
They are changing google and youtube layout so people are actively thinking and don't sleep like sheeps.
True story

YouTube fighting the illuminati since 2005
I just wish that they had ended up actually using Cosmic Panda. I loved that shit. It'd feel a bit dated now, but it was so good and then they updated to what we've had most recently which has been so shitty.

Really the only bad thing about the changes are the huge waste of space with those big white margins and the horrendous forced G+ integration.
Thank goodness. It was annoying for the video to be crammed in the corner
looks absolutely beautiful on 1920x1080. the fact that the video fills the screen and comments aren't automatically shown is awesome.
FINALLY
You fuckers get rid of the BLOODY WHITESPACE
Does this mean it will finally display the name of the video entirely without the need to mouse over it?
I will still hate youtube until they get rid of the quality options greying out when my connection is slow.
I have awful DL speeds, I always have to pause the video as soon as it starts, click on 360p to prevent the auto-quality bullshit from instantly changing it to 144p, and very often it will just buffer and then force me to watch in 144p by greying out all the other quality options, so I have to refresh the page. This repeats until it finally realizes that I want to watch in 360p.
Now, can we have G+ removed, and the ability to use something lower than 2000x1000 for our channel cover photos?

You're suppose to hit the little square in the bottom-right corner of the player to get the videos on the side.

It looks waaay better that way.

Something smaller? Can't you can just scale it down, sure it'll probably look like shit but it's not like they're preventing you from using massive files.
I don't like this. I'd rather not have my video be blown up and take the whole screen space, if i wanted that, I'd put the video on fullscreen.
After using it for a while, this is a step in the right direction, but I'd like an option to play stuff at exact size. Don't even care if it uses the 720p sized player with huge black borders, I just want to play things at the right resolution.
Improved Youtube extension for chrome is all you need to fix Youtube.
I quite like most of this. Except one thing.
For the love of fuck, Google, not everyone can stream 720p! Please oh please let us turn this nonsense off. I love the new layout but this is going to rape the shit out of my DSL.
What, does this checkbox not work for you or something?

I've never actually had that checkbox do anything personally. It still loads in 480p by default for me whether it's ticked or not.
If you like these changes, use youtube center. You can already set it up to do this. Its a fantastic utility in general, also lets you set it so only one video can play at a time in any tab, and lots of other good fixes.

Works fine here. It opens as 480p but in a second or two switches to 720p
