• Microsoft is bringing back the Start Menu as you loved

That's what Windows 8 should have been from the beginning: a combination of the best parts of Metro and desktop. I love it! I might even switch to Windows 8 at some point.
What bothers me is that they knew they should have done it that way from the start based on the feedback , yet they didn't implement it.

But that's the problem. Window Me should have been Windows 2000 Home Edition (based on Windows NT) they should have Fucked off the DOS kernel in 1998 and Vista should have been delayed until they fixed it up. Beside, this was more of a UI aesthetic thing rather than a performance and stability thing so it could have been solved earlier.
Ha, "All Apps". My computer has "programs", Microsoft. Apps are for phones.
Of all the shit to get angry at Windows 8 for this is the most ridiculous.
Just when people already gotten used to having no start menu bar, you had to bring it back.
Of all the shit to get angry at Windows 8 for this is the most ridiculous.
even if w8 was ten times faster than windows 7 people would do this shit that's the sad thing
even if w8 was ten times faster than windows 7 people would do this shit that's the sad thing
Nah they wouldn't. If 8 was 10 times faster the XP users with bad computers would upgrade a lot quicker.
Nah they wouldn't. If 8 was 10 times faster the XP users with bad computers would upgrade a lot quicker.
to be fair w7/8 is way faster than xp anyways of course though, they still find obscure reasons to bitch and moan so they can stay on XP
to be fair w7/8 is way faster than xp anyways of course though, they still find obscure reasons to bitch and moan so they can stay on XP
It isn't on old computers. I have one such computer and w7/8 are much slower making it nearly impossible to work on while xp is good for everyday use.
It isn't on old computers. However, on newer PCs with lots of RAM, it is a fact that Windows 7 and 8 do run much faster, as they take full advantage of improved hardware. Even my 2.8 Ghz Pentium 4 actually runs 7 pretty well (with discrete graphics of course for Aero). 3.5 GB of DDR makes a big difference. :v:
If you want App-le's iOS lingo taking over the world then by all means.
Except they mean literally the same thing, Application being used for years, and why does it matter that Apple uses it? Is the whole English language bad because Apple uses it?
Looks too... modern
Windows 7 sure as heck lets me use the classic theme. And why wouldn't I? Aero can sometimes screw with windowed gaming and regardless why should my OS be sucking up extra GPU just to look fancy. I don't care about seeing a sliver of desktop behind my windows.
If it's using up enough of your gpu power that you actually have to worry about it then you really need an upgrade. Even with two monitors the amount of gpu that Aero uses for me is negligible enough to be basically not even noticeable. At 324Mhz on my 650Ti Boost the gpu usage itself sits at 2% usage for a 2560x1440 monitor and a 1366x768 monitor. The only noteworthy part is the vram usage sitting around 500/2048MB. Aero screwing with windowed games though is a valid criticism, it's not even a matter of resource usage from what I know. It's interference or incompatibility issues.
I see a lot of people calling programs progs, and all the time we as humans try to make words shorter. EXEs have always been called applications, and an app literally means application, not an application for a mobile device. Seriously it's one word. Are you people that desperate just to find something to complain about?

It even sounds wrong...
-Hey, did you install that prog? -Nah man, the prog was taking too long to download -Aye, that's illegal!! Don't download progs!!
Am I just lucky?
... Do you really? I mean, I haven't seen 'prog' as a short of 'program' used ever outside this thread. It even sounds wrong... Am I just lucky?
Yeah I should have clarified, I just meant in this thread. I also never heard 'prog' aloud. My point is if you can shorten programs, what's wrong with shortening applications?
Classic theme is still in Windows 8 but is only used when both Metro and legacy Aero classic fucks up
Actually winlogon gets hung in an infinite loop trying to restart DWM when Aero fucks up. So you can only get Classic if you suspend winlogon. Though you can't really use Windows because explorer requires DWM to be running.

They changed My computer to This PC, and now they're changing programs to apps, I don't like that so i'll mention it. What the fuck is your problem with me not liking something? Also while app might be short for application, everyone knows people generally say app when they mean a mobile, and not a desktop application, it even mentions this in the dictionary definition.
They changed My computer to This PC
I always renamed that icon to match my hostname anyway
upgraded to windows 8 today, i like it but i might use start menu when it comes out granted I haven't adapted to metro yet

I mean (and if that includes you then it does), trying to bash windows 8 or the new start menu as a whole just because of a single word changed, even though it's the same thing. It'll be like going to linux just Windows 7 is now called Windows Seven. You're free to hate/dislike whatever you feel to, I just can't see how one/some of you could be so bothered by this.

Even when they listen to use and bring back the start menu I want, they just have to change that one little thing to make it sound more mobile-like. It just annoys me.
