You're fucking stupid. I care about that pledge. Do you know why? Because from the day I started pre school I was taught to say that pledge day after day after day until the day I graduated from middle school. And so is every other kid who doesn't know better. That pledge, which is the only legal pledge of my nation, the only one that have a choice of saying in a court of law and the only one I am given to legally give my full support and loyalty to my country should I need to, contains the words UNDER GOD, forcing me to disregard my beliefs and pledge my loyalty to a Christian nation. It also forces me to disregard my beliefs in a federal and often times state court, and to disregard my beliefs and pledge my loyalty to a Christian state should I need to in any other case. It isn't some 'stupid pledge' and people do give a fucking shit about it. I don't want to pledge my allegiance to a Christian state, and I don't want to pledge my allegiance under God. I want my goddam right to freedom of religion or lack there of to be respected, and I want my fucking nation to enforce the supreme court precedent and the founding father's suggestion of separation of church and state. I want to legally be able to pledge my fucking allegiance and loyalty to my country without needing to pledge it under god, to god, or to a state under god.
Well said! I may be a native of :canada:, but I watch the religious activity down there with distinct alarm. Not only is it a breach of religious freedom, but it is a breach, however small in the wall between church and state. That wall in america is not just any wall. It is a dike. Sure the leaks may start small. But they can grow. Dramatically. The last several years there has been a testament to this. Constant vigilance, with even the slightest breach being dropped upon like a pallet of bricks. That's the cost of a secular society in america.
Unused? Over here you have to do it every morning every day in school.
In my school you don't have to do the pledge if you don't want to.
They can't make you say it, can they? I just stand up, but I don't pledge or salute the flag, and neither does almost everyone else in my class.
Boo hoo, stupid atheist are butt hurt because their sign has the truth written on it.

My personal belief is that God does exist and so does OUR lord Jesus Christ, and all these people were doing was correcting a grammatical fallacy on that billboard.

You make this seem as if this is some giant popularity war, where the other side is the bane of humanity's advancement with an average IQ of a twelve year old.

First of all, you're a delusional idiot. And second, there was no grammatical error.
[editline]anus[/editline]
And don't talk about fallacies of any sort when you believe in a god.

Atheists are more self-righteous than Christians, how ironic.
For the record, those who are debating, atheism does have symbols. The happy human symbol is the federally recognized symbol, and the hydrogen atom is also commonly used.
happy human is only for humanists

That...was beautiful...
I hope that no one assumes that Christians are all close-minded ignorant people because of this.
As you can see from the posts here I think a lot of people already assume things like that.
You believe in an magical being that has no evidence of existing. You have no right to can anybody an idiot.
You know what I am just going to stop arguing with you. I would call you "A SELF HATING FUCKING RETARDED ATHEIST PIECE OF SHIT", but you don't deserve the title of atheist because you give them a bad name where ever you go. So why don't you respect your belief and I will respect mines. Oh yeah if you're going to try to argue with a Theist try something new besides the raptor jesus type comebacks.

Who made you the judge of intelligence? What gave you all this power to determine who can and who can't do something?

I love how you call yourself a Christian, yet you go against Jesus Christ's supposed teachings. Typical.
And why should anybody respect your beliefs, anyway? Christianity has been used as an excuse for mass murder for more than a thousand years.
Also one more thing, why can't you Atheist (not all of you, just some) be a little bit more open minded I mean really what's the worst that could happen if you went by the ways of the bible. It provides a great moral code, and enhances good character. Just visit your local church one Sunday morning and see how it is, preferably a Church of Christ.

One can never argue with you people. You just imply we are morons oppressing you and leave as if you had been offended.
Also, raptor jesus comebacks? What the hell?
And why should anybody respect your beliefs, anyway? Christianity has been used as an excuse for mass murder for more than a thousand years.
An excuse? People can make excuses for everything using whatever they want, what does it matter? It's the reason they did it that's the real problem.
lol fp atheists
"yeah guys... we should just abandon those stupid religions... heh lets go make silly and funny comments when somebody says "god" and "science" in the same sentence..."

If you seriously are asking me why anyone should respect my beliefs then I have nothing else to say. Oh and yeah you got your answer right there, people have used it as an 'EXUSE' to kill people not the actual reason.
You give atheist a terrible name.

Way to avoid an argument. Christians are the biggest fucking cry babies ever.
And I'm not an atheist.
I don't see why people who are religous should talk down to people who aren't and get away with it.
This nation was founded for people to escape hardships in other countries and live a peaceful life. It didn't matter if they were white, black, brown, christian, muslim, jewish, anything that defines a person's way of life, they could come here and not worry about anybody trying to kill them.
This idea is nearly forgotten today because these ultra-religous assholes we see on TV are making people think that this nation is a christian nation only and anybody else isn't "worthy." That's the closest thing to Nazism we have today.
I do believe in a God, but christian beliefs leave me having many questions. "Why would God only have one son? He had a lot of time to have multiple sons." "If God loves everybody, then why is there a pope? I thought he didn't have favorites." The list goes on.
These christians who vandalized the billboard may think they've done something right, but they are still under the law, no matter how many times they've read the Bible.
Also to everyone, no one ever said that Christians did that. It just might be atheist trying to IRL troll everyone and make it look like Christians did it.
"If God loves everybody, then why is there a pope? I thought he didn't have favorites."
Unless you're a Catholic, you can reject the authority of The Pope.
Hell, even my ultra religious Catholic Grandmother rejected the current Pope.
His roll, at least from the most convincing interpretation of history I've heard, was as a political tool, allowing political decisions to be reinforced by "The Power of God". He was especially instrumental in stymieing Byzantian influence in Western Europe after the schism.
Why? What makes their beliefs any more worthy of respect than ours?
I didn't say that, I said that defacing the sole most important human of their religion would be more offensive than what was done to that billboard.
You can do different things, and some are more offensive than others. For example, painting a swastika on the door of a Jew is more offensive than saying he's greedy because he's a Jew. This can move across group boundaries.
