Christians Aren't That Creative, Vandalize Atheist Sign

Yeah but what i'm getting at is that the bible and christianity is riddled with so many contradictions, flaws and plot holes that to take any part of it even remotely seriously is moronic.

I know what you mean, but I don't know what to say other than people have their beliefs, crazy or not. It applies to all religions really. I don't fancy the bible other than for stories of morality/virtues/etc. I still have my beliefs, skewed in some fashion though.
I think the reason Catholics are so popular nowadays is that EVERYONE thinks they are Catholic. They are born Catholic so they think they have to stay like that forever. Shit, almost none of them even go to CHURCH. When they get their pamphlet they just cross out the "Catholic" box. Almost all of the Catholics in the US haven't read the bible. The ones that actually go to church just stare at the priest going "YES OH MIGHTY LORD SAVE ME FROM MY OWN HUMANITY", taking in the buckets of bullshit being thrown at them. Shit, if you haven't read the bible, don't call yourself a Christian. Thank you very much.

Beliefs are entirely fine, I will stand beside anyone christian, athiest or whatever when it comes to defending someones right to believe in something no matter how retarded i may feel it is.
But when you hold your belief so close to your heart that you deny scientific evidence, and manufacture your own, twist someones words or evidence to your own ends to "prove" that you were right, as opposed to adapting to new evidence, I want that persons throat cut open.
People like those are the people who stop stem cell research, genetics all for the simple reason it's against their cloud guys fucking rules.

Don't forget about denying rights to gay people, twisting school curriculum to meet their worldview, denying climate change, etc etc

I have, I'm a lector at church and I have found most of the scriptures I've read "off", but I'm still going to believe most/some of it.
I have, I'm a lector at church and I have found most of it "off", but I'm still going to believe most of it.
Why?
Yeah I too was a die hard atheist. When I was 10.
Then I learned to man up and respect to beliefs of others. I've got a whole church of Jehovah witnesses right next to my apartment. They don't bug me, I don't bug them.
Why?
I'm going to get rated dumb for this. But it's because I believe that God has helped me throughout my life.
Though, I am not a retarded fundie who bashes the beliefs or lack of beliefs of people.

What ways has he helped you in? And not tryin to troll here, i'm just curious. It's interesting to hear what makes people believe.

That ones tricky.
Climate change is definitely happening I agree there, there is just no solid evidence that we are the cause/increasing it's rate.
But the rest of the list, my god that makes me rage.

Implying that only kids are atheists, and that all atheists are anti theists.

It probably would have been better to say something like "handicapping environmental work", because with a lot of the evangelical people in the public realm, you get the idea of "god put the earth here for us to do whatever we want with it", and in some cases, "the rapture's coming so it doesn't matter anyways. go cut down those rainforests"
I feel ignored.
Wait, nobody said anything about atheists directly.
It could just be a sign for the separation of Religion and Government.
That's the point of the billboard, to remind people that America was founded as a secular nation favouring no god over an other.
:sigh:
I've been saying that the entire damn topic, Secularism has nothing to do with Atheism

Well I'm sorry that every thread that even mentions religion is filled with pointless hate. Yes there are indeed threads where the hate is justified (Suicide bombers, child molesters), but sometimes it just is completely unreasonable.

Define hate. Because I don't really see that much of it. I see a lot of mockery, yea, and making fun of various things, but if you define that as hate then comedians are the most hateful people in the world. I think it's fair to say that most people on here don't hate religion so much as it's effects. I'm totally fine with a person believing whatever they want (outside of cults and all), but I just want it kept out of the public realm. Would you really call that hate?
Take a quick glance at the thread. The posts who have the most agrees usually are the ones filled with negativity.
[editline]07:12PM[/editline]
And sorry if I misused the word ''hate''
Yeah I too was a die hard atheist. When I was 10.

Paravin. Just stop posting. In every thread you come in, you pose some sort of personal argument or fallacy, and then completely ignore how irrational it is. Especially stay out of drug threads, I PM'd you for some actual argument about that and you didn't have shit. So just stop. As for this current post of yours.
"Yeah I too was a die hard atheist. When I was 10."
You're pretty much insulting every atheist here acting like it's something only confused kids believe. However, what actually fits this description is any religion. I used to believe in Santa Clause, and now I don't. God is Santa Clause a for everyone. Almost certainly doesn't exist, but they will still argue and fight about it on the school yard like kids.

All negativity and hate is bad :downs:
Yea, there's negativity, but it's not really that unjustified. Most negative comments I saw were calling christianity nonsense, which... isn't that far from the truth. I don't care if people believe in it, but it seems rather nonsensical. Again, I don't dislike people for believing in it, I just kind of wonder why.
Often it's because they were indoctrinated by their parents. It also makes you feel better, I mean, praying is just such an easy way to get off responsibility and just get a good feeling for doing nothing. More down the line, the idea of death isn't a comfortable one, so people make up stories that death really isn't the end. Then people start questioning those stories, people get defensive because their comfortable beliefs are getting questioned, etc etc etc.
I meant that more as "huh isn't that odd" than "why do they actually do that" >_>
I'm pretty aware of the various reasons given for religious belief

I'm sorry but there's one part of the bible that will always make me confused as to why anyone believes in it.
Genesis hints at the idea that the earth is either flat, flat faced, or a cube.
And finally, talking snakes, nothing to be said about it, jut talking snakes.

When ever I hear the words Jehovahs witnesses the inside of my chest gets a burning sensation
Sorry but the whole book of genesis, most of the old testament, and damn near all of the new testament was backwards fucking retarded.
if you actually took that literally as TALKING SNAKES then you're the dumb one
[editline]07:39PM[/editline]
funny, i usually find it to be the other way around
Try looking elsewhere than the internet
note "DIE HARD ATHEIST"
it's funny, usually you yell about civil liberties and then you say that people shouldn't believe in a God
mostly, yes
[editline]07:44PM[/editline]
the internet is really the only place people whine about religion because they know they can't get slapped over the head and told to shut up
This is really too stupid to to reply to, but oh well. Shouldn't =/= can't. I personally don't think you should believe in something like organized religion, but that doesn't mean you can't, and far be it from me to deny you the right to do so. And ha ha, slapped on the head, the status quo is funny. Sure is a terrible thing to "whine" about religion.
Yeah, in real life, you can become a social pariah in some areas, just because you're an atheist.
Again implying atheist = anti theist, fuck off and learn what they are.
And most people declare that america should be secular, like they intended when it was founded
Negativity and hatred drive change, and at the same time resits it.
I've been gave shit before over my lack of religion and I've dealt it back as well, I get shit for being an atheist regularly by my parents who point blank refuse to understand how I can't believe in mystical cloud man.
TL;DR Stop being retarded.
And I have a feeling you don't deserve a Templar avatar, cause you ain't defended the faith well or converted anyone ho bag.
I was lucky, my dad was an atheist, and my mom was a wican/pagan. They agreed not to even mention religion at all around me. The funny thing is that most people who grow up without religion will not convert unless they are in a vulnerable time, like they have a near death experience, a loved one gets into a severe accident, ect. If someone has the chance to look into any religion from outside of it, a lot of them will see it's just plain ridiculous.
I don't get why the bible was made as a self help book without all the retarded superstition and shit.
