It's not a component of apoptosis processes in some cancer cells?
over-expression of MUC1 prevents the apoptosis process from happening because it blocks your immune system from affecting those cells.

Ah, thank you for explaining that.
I have this feeling that if people are more optimistic about these things more research'll go in to them and a real cure will be developed.
I have this feeling that if people are more optimistic about these things more research'll go in to them and a real cure will be developed.
lack of optimism isn't the primary barrier. the fact that a lot of research ends up unfruitful is.
ImMucin, activates the immune system by “training” T-cells
am I the only one thinking T virus here?
Oh, if it was for every "cancer is cured!" thread around..
If it works it will likely not go away, that's how it always is. The things you hear about that "disappear" likely disappeared due to not actually working, not due to a corrupt big pharma. Think about it, wouldn't corporations do anything for the chance to harbor and sell the first or only cure for cancer?
Its not that they already worked and then disappear, its that they were in-development and then bought buy a big pharma company, who then stopped work on it to ensure it was never completed.
Just like some people could have very personal reasons to hate black people or Muslims?
I've just had very awful experiences with jewish people. A couple have tried to scam me and all jewish people I come across don't seem very good people.
(User was banned for this post ("Antisemitism" - Starpluck))
It's okay to hate the government of Israel.
But don't hate their technology, medical advancements and people.
I've just had very awful experiences with jewish people. A couple have tried to scam me and all jewish people I come across don't seem very good people.
How do you know who is and who isn't a Jew? I'm guessing these guys were wearing their Jew-badges or something
In fact I dislike jewish people. I have very personal reasons to do so.
Sorry. :(
At least I still like you.
I've just had very awful experiences with jewish people. A couple have tried to scam me and all jewish people I come across don't seem very good people.
"Some black people robbed me before therefore I have a very understandable reason for hating black people." It's disappointing to see antisemitism still alive and well in this day and age.
Now we wait...

[sp]i know it's israel but this is relevant for their "Cure for Cancer"[/sp] :v:
Once again another cure for cancer thread. Where is that jackass who called me a twat and thought a previous thread was the real deal as well?
There was also this TED talk where they discovered a cure for a specific cancer. That seemed more believable.
I hope this is rael
Cancer Vaccine? Hmm, could be true, the only thing holding me back on this is, why Israeli scientists? You'd think it would be something like Cancer Research with the amount of money they get in... OH WAIT, they just steal 80% of it.

I can't tell if your question is serious. If it is, the answer is "probably because they're scientists".
Also it's not a vaccine, it's a drug. But I guess no one reads the content of a thread.

Yeah it was and I know, but out of nowhere, Israel? I didn't know they were working on this sort of thing.
If only. You're a bit naive. Would you rather believe some corrupt big pharmaceutical company or some pothead reffering to some obscure studies. Unfortunately you would chose the docotors opinion.
Yes, any sane, intelligent person would choose the word of qualified, professional scientists and doctors over a stoner with no such relevant qualifications.
Yeah it was and I know, but out of nowhere, Israel? I didn't know they were working on this sort of thing.
Most countries other than america do not really boast much about what they are/will research.
Hell it could be nigeria for all I care. Country itself doesn't mean much in results of research.
didn't Cuba announce a cancer vaccine a few weeks back?
Yeah it was and I know, but out of nowhere, Israel? I didn't know they were working on this sort of thing.
"but out of nowhere, Israel?"
You're talking like Israel is some ass-backward country that nothing ever came of there but war and femine...
In the last 8 years Israel had 4 Nobel prize winners in chemistry (also some in economics, but not related to this thread) - still out of nowhere for you?
4 Turing award winners
Stem Cell research:
Advanced stem cell research takes place in Israel. The first steps in the development of stem cell studies occurred in Israel, with research in this field dating back to studies of bone marrow stem cells in the early 1960s. By 2006, Israeli scientists were leaders on a per capita basis in the number of articles published in scientific journals related to stem cell research. In 2011, Israeli scientist Inbar Friedrich Ben-Nun led a team which produced the first stem cells from endangered species, a breakthrough that could save animals in danger of extinction.
And there is more:

that level of antisemitism is usually only found with other jews, are you sure you yourself are not jewish?
