Given that the US government will not want whatever is contained in there to go public, I'd say Assange is safe as houses right now.
I'm sure any other country would not want their secrets revealed.
Opening it is impossible without the password.

Or better, it's possible, if you're willing to wait a few billion years.
it's not imposible,
It would just take years to decrypt manually.
Did anybody consider the possibility that this might be related to the North Korea Crisis? Perhaps, just as a safety blanket, the US is taking action to increase the odds that no sensitive wartime materials are leaked?

So instead of releasing the document, they password it? What's the point of teasing people? I don't get it.
It is aliens
So instead of releasing the document, they password it? What's the point of teasing people? I don't get it.
People get interested.
So instead of releasing the document, they password it? What's the point of teasing people? I don't get it.
It's possible that the next release isn't even that file. The file is just to make sure when shit happens it still gets out.
So instead of releasing the document, they password it? What's the point of teasing people? I don't get it.
it's a bargaining chip so assange doesn't get fucking assassinated
So instead of releasing the document, they password it? What's the point of teasing people? I don't get it.
as long as the document is not released, Assange lives
it's literally his health insurance
No because that would be dumb.
Not really. It's bad enough for documents to be leaked during the Middle Eastern Conflicts, but for a fullscale regional war? I can understand a government not wanting anything leaked, at all. Even if nothing comes of the crisis, it's better safe than sorry, to them.
Not condoning this in any way, I think it's disgusting, but I can see where it's coming from.
It is aliens
left field over there.

This sounds too much like a plot to a movie.
I tell ya if this gets just a little more interesting, they'll make a movie about it in 40 years or so.
Site's back up, ya'll are making a fuss about nothing.

not sure if you guys already know this but if you go into AESCRYPT and put (history insurance) without the brackets it will do something and another file will appear...and that needs a password also
EDIT: im a newfag with this software but if i double click the new file and put any password it says "unable to open output file" then it has the location? then it says "the file exists" any help guys?
The UK has issued a DA notice on Wikileaks.
Type 1 & 5
* DA-Notice 01: Military Operations, Plans & Capabilities
* DA-Notice 02: Nuclear and Non-Nuclear Weapons and Equipment
* DA-Notice 03: Ciphers and Secure Communications
* DA-Notice 04: Sensitive Installations and Home Addresses
* DA-Notice 05: United Kingdom Security & Intelligence Special Services
http://twitter.com/wikileaks
and for some reason they still think it's a good idea to release it
This is going to end very badly.

Please explain, what does this mean?
I can't wait. Even if it does 'cost lives', it'll show the true nature of whatever's in there and change the world.
Please explain, what does this mean?
"A DA-Notice or Defence Advisory Notice (called a Defence Notice or D-Notice until 1993) is an official request to news editors not to publish or broadcast items on specified subjects for reasons of national security. The system is still in use in Britain."
There's something in there they do not want out.
I say Assange should go to jail for that smear campaign they're doing against him. Then he'll be safe.
4 and 1/2 pages of arguments. 10 posts with info.
Fuck.

So the UK is wants to hide something too?
So the UK is wants to hide something too?
That or they are wanting to please other governments.
I should point out a little (well rather big) detail I left out of my post due to skim reading Wikipedia and not checking another site.
"The DA Notice system is a voluntary code that provides guidance to the British media on the publication or broadcasting of national security information"
So they could just (and probably will) ignore it.

I'm not talking about the insurance file, I'm taking about Wikileaks being down now.
I found it funny on my news channel yesterday when they were showing information on wikileaks they had "problems" with the audio an said they'll fix it, they still haven't fixed it yet.
Well I downloaded the insurance, looking forward to whatever's inside
Is Assange in hiding?
Or does he have to keep a set of documents passworded at all times to remain alive?
Downloading, I wonder if I will ever see it's contents.
