That's what I said both times??? People seem to look for what ever they want to see in order to pick a bone, eh?
i missed the "try", no need to get hostile
Total gun control isn't going to happen in the United States, regardless of whether or not it should be done. Stop arguing about it.
On topic, the attacker may not have been another family member at all. The homes that were attacked are spaced out too far for one person to travel to this quickly. Someone in that family made someone else very angry, and that entire family is paying for it.

Sorry mate, it's just frustrating trying to stay neutral and people picking a side for you anyways :v:

Yeah, I posted what I heard since I live about an hour out from there, but it was quickly drowned out by the usual off-topic derailing on mental health issues.
I live not-too-far at all from this, just heard that the attorney general is telling people with the same last name as the victims to hide. Supposedly the shooting was drug-related, and the family's being hunted down or something. The kids killed were under the age of 18, but the smallest children were apparently just left in the house.
This is some cartel-tier shit if that's the case, and it wouldn't surprise me. Meth and heroin have become big problems around here.
Apparently the count has gone up to 8 according to my local news.
I don't think anyone who owns firearms and isn't some extreme right wing would be against things like improved background checks, fixing the system we have now to move more efficiently, and allowing citizens to search the database. Nobody without at least $40,000 and absolutely insane requirements gets to own a machine gun. Owning one essentially gives the ATF a free pass to waltz in and inspect you whenever they feel.
This is a bad idea, just like registrations are a bad idea. What happens when the political tides change and the evaluations are raised so absurdly high that no one passes, and now you've created a shopping list of confiscations for the government?

Which makes me bring up health care as one of the most powerful gun violence combatants. I think when people aren't afraid of either being bankrupt or outcast from society because they are seeking help, then we can finally move forward.
40 grand for a weapon that costs MAYBE $300 to manufacture is just retarded. And having the ATF walk in whenever they want is a breach of the 4th amendment.
We already have background checks, and thousands of gun laws. All that needs to change is mental health records need to be made available when FFL asks for it. Currently, the "mental health" people are not required to give up this information. Aside from that, it's fine. We have "gun control" already. "Gun control" is a knee-jerk reactionary term to make soccer moms who are afraid of inanimate objects, feel safe.
This is straight up Roman style erasing your family from existence, jesus. 8 family members if 4 separate locations. Been down there from time to time though, a lot of areas south of Columbus aren't doing so well.
Christ, have they figured out how many shooters are on the run?

Are you siding with me or are you arguing against me?
I was just stating what we currently have, and saying that if anything, background checks could use a facelift, since they are not doing their full job as they are. (As you said too)
[sp]Why are all of my posts being so misread :([/sp]

I was slightly agreeing and adding to what you tried to say.

Most people read the first line of posts and don't read any further. As for mental health checks, another problem is the stigma relating to it. Most people sometimes will outright refuse to get mental checkups because they fear how society will look at them as a whole. One example of this is people calling people autistic as an insult.
Having any mental health condition automatically labels you as delusional and insane, which is pretty upsetting really because it leads so many people to not actually do anything. Even if we reformed the medical and legal system as a whole to not scare people as much, the stigma would always remain.
All I can say is that, if somebody wants someone else dead, they'll probably try to fulfill that want no matter what.
Are you saying that Americans are then more violent than the rest of the world?
Are you saying that Americans are then more violent than the rest of the world?
What.
He was saying that if person A wants person B dead, then a law probably wouldn't stop person A from killing person B. Be it with a gun, wire, knife, ect

Well then how do you explain the fact that the united states has a much higher homicide rate than most EU countries and east asian countries? Is it because Americans are more violent? That is, given that "if someone wants to kill someone, they will". Are you saying more Americans want each other dead than japanese people do?

i would say that the terrible levels of poverty, terrible prison conditions, and high levels of drug and gang based crime are all reasons why america suffers more violence than other countries.

Absolutely.
Are you saying that Americans are then more violent than the rest of the world?
If the common belief that mental health = violence, then absolutely. I cannot remember the exact number, but we definitely have a higher psychosis problem per capita then just about every other country in the world.
