A rebel spokesperson said the source of the new weapons was not the United States. And they are Russian made. Hmm. Possible that the States bought old Russian surplus and told them to explicitly say it wasn't from them? :v:

because arming a bunch of middle easterners rebelling against their government worked out SO WELL for us last time. http://s.telegraph.co.uk/graphics/html/911_frontpages/thumb/NYT.jpg

Saudi Arabia also pushing more weapons in. Or possibly passing on US arms? It's no secret the States and Saudi Arabia are allies of sorts. http://www.ft.com/cms/s/0/b64cb0ce-da87-11e2-8062-00144feab7de.html#axzz2Wxg7l2lD

The Iraq and Afghanistan both use mainly Eastern Weapons.
"We gotta do something to stop all this bloodshed!" "I've got an Idea!" "What?" "Let's send guns!"
I bet you it is going to be like Saddam & Afghanistan all over again, hey lets hook you up with some guns to help you. Then a few years down the road you can miss use them and we will intervene so you can use them against us..
Iranian special forces, oh fuck. my sides.

A while back there were a bunch of pictures of rebels using Steyr AUGs floating around and IIRC the AUG is the Saudi service rifle.
I hope they made sure they signed for the weapons in person, because sometimes people will steal packages off your porch when you're not home.
There is no peace in the middle east with the weast
"Collected after the fall of the regime." Oh what the fuck ever. If and when Assad is gone, the various factions in the rebels will immediately use those weapons to start killing each other, and after that, the weapons will disappear into the stockpiles of whoever wins.
Is Obama gonna run universal background checks on the rebels before he gives them the weapons?
