Bullied Canadian Teen Commits Suicide After Prolonged Battle Online And In School

I'm incredibly anti-death penalty. But I can't help feeling the urge to kill the motherfucker and to make him suffer for what he did.
Why does no one read the full article?
She did move schools.
Twice.
And it wouldn've mattered anyways. You could move to a different country, but what's on the internet will still follow you regardless unless you decide to change your name and everything about you like you were in the witness protection program, which, in my eyes is almost suicide because in a sense you're killing your old self to become someone different just to escape what's following you.
Which site was this shit actually on?
So the article doesn't mention anything about her actually trying to help herself other than running away from it?
I'm not saying the guy isn't an ass or downgrading her problem. I'm simply making a couple observations which pop to mind about this situation.
Facebook has a report function, especially since his profile picture was child pornography. She could have reported it to the police even, be it they may or may not have been able to trace him through any of his accounts or ways he sent people those pictures.
The article certainly makes it sound like she didn't do much to help herself... and is oddly contradictory saying she had strong bonds with many people but from above says she said everyone hates her. Clearly depression talking, but I don't see why she never tried to get any help.
I also wonder how she explained to her parents she wanted to change schools, without telling them about the pictures and them also not getting any real help.
Could have went to the RCMP.
No.
Death is too merciful for him. I have more sympathy for murderers, cult leaders, and school shooters. At least they (think) had a reason to do what they did. This guy? He had no reason. He was just an asshole.
And how did all this start? Because she posted her tits on the internet. Don't do it girls (apart from porn stars, you're cool).
Also fuck these attention-seeking videos. I was bullied, I didn't make a video. And don't tell me that they're not, that's bullshit and you know it. You don't need to tell everyone about it when you're bullied, just the people who can make a difference. And the internet can't, so ala attention-seeking.
Attention and human contact are basic human necessities. She lacked them.
Yes, the video is for attention. No, that doesn't negate its value.
Grow up.

"I think I'm right, and your opinion is juvenile".
You're extremely bad at making a point. Especially for a mod.
Ugh, it feels so wrong when people like a "RIP" page.
It's as if they're happy that someone died.

They should have typed "Rest In Peace" instead, RIP just sounds wrong
Yes, and I wouldn't count this as bullying at all. This is serious abuse, not bullying.
Is the distinction even relevant? Like, at all? If anything, serious abuse is worse than continued bullying, and bullying is capable of ruining lives already.
Assholes like you were never bullied.
wow so all people who weren't bullied are assholes. Good job.
Well if you did nothing regretful when you were 12/13 then congratulations, you're a pioneer.
Generally you only require a source when the other person is thought to be legitimately unaware of the information you are providing. I figured, by way of being human, you would at some level recognize the necessity of positive human contact.
But here:
http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Maslow's_hierarchy_of_needs
http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Fundamental_human_needs
These are two related schools of thought regarding the fundamental needs of humans. They are wiki articles, but they serve as fairly reasonable summaries. Both of which touch on human affection as necessary.
Seeing as you don't recognize your own needs nor the needs of others, that puts you somewhere around age 2-7 on the piaget scale of child development.
http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Child_development#Piaget_stages
Together these support my suggestions that human contact is indeed necessary and that you need to grow up.
I prefer the concise nature of my original post, but this will do.
I hope this guy goes to prison for a long time. Technically speaking he caused her to kill herself which is as bad as or even worse than murder.
The guy is probably under 16 so he can't go to prison. (I'm assuming judging by the story)
The article continually refers to him as " a man ". She would have been 12-13 at the time of taking the photo's, but he may have been older. Or maybe even not have been the one who get the pics originally at all.
The whole "slap on the back of the hand" punishment for bullying needs to STOP. We need to stat wheeling in some serious punishments for bullying. As in - if you bully someone to the point of self-harm then you are never going to another public school in the province/state ever again.
The reason there is so much bullying in schools around the world is because nobody fucking does anything about it. It's not like it's hard. You do a little internal investigation, you remove the bully permanently from the facility and depending on the situation you notify the cops. Many times what the bully is doing falls under harassment, abuse, stalking, or more - so they can actually be criminally charged.
I've been thinking for a bit, and an idea popped into my head. I'm not really sure to what extent I believe it, but I figure it would make for interesting debate nonetheless.
Should bullying be taken as seriously as sexual assault? Both foster fear, confusion, insecurity, and often self harm.

I wasn't referring to what you said about your view-point on those particular schools of thought, it was that you seemed to suffer from what appears to be severe superiority complex. Telling someone to "grow up" is so petty and irrelevant that it's almost lost all meaning, and in my eyes at least made you appear to be picking at straws. Nonetheless, I still do not agree with your point, and recommend you consider other people's opinions before pressing your own as truth.

This vastly depends on what you consider bullying, the events here are already illegal under child pornography laws, and harassment.
Lots of serious bullying falls under harassment but just never gets treated as it, and no one gets charged.
But also a lot of the supposed bullying by kids in school is just normal interaction. In that it is what they would usually joke about or say to close friends and it not be a big deal, but a more sensitive kid will take it more personally and it becomes a problem. Often that type of bullying is very distressing to the student, but no one else may recognize it because it isn't "real" bullying.
What I mean by this is it is hard to draw lines in what is and isn't bullying, because the two can often seem different to those bullying and those being bullied. Most things were it really is clear cut are already covered under law but just not enforced as they should be, because oh they are just kids they don't know better.

I've been asking a few people for their two cents, and this kept coming up. Essentially, it's difficult to classify them as one in the same because the lines in bullying tend to be so blurry.
This story absolutely disgusts me and it breaks my heart. One of my good friends committed suicide at the end of August, and seeing the same thing happen in this manner is just... its just NOT RIGHT.
This is the type of cyberbullying that should be taken seriously. Honestly, I hope they find the guy in public, if you violate the privacy of others, you deserve to have yours revoked.
This is tragic and nobody deserves this, but...
You don't pursue a sexual relationship with a guy who's already with someone else. You're never going to get away with that and she should have realized that he was just using her for sex.
But if you were in her situation of loneliness you would find it hard to admit the truth.
I logged onto facebook yesterday and it was blowing up with this. At the morning there was a group with 500 likes, I look again at night and it's over 60,000. This girl lived in my neighbourhood and a few of my friends knew her.
Pretty sad, but it's also pretty aggravating seeing all these people I know who are complete scumbags standing up for her and anti-bullying when they didn't even know she existed. People just like to use these things to inflate their ego and make it seem like they are a good person, when the truth is I know a lot of them and they are seriously some of the worst people ever. And knowing what school she went to, it was specifically for troubled kids, so just imagine the kind of people that were there.
And now it's this nation wide story. It seems like people only want to do what's right when it's way too fucking late. The whole situation just makes me angry. On facebook it was literally people just shouting about how it's "their" fault and all this shit blah blah blah. Well let me tell you most of the people standing up for her, have been that bully to someone else, or didn't give a shit about this girl at all. The hypocrisy is just too much.
I just feel bad for the girl. Almost everyone just has crocodile tears to make themselves look better. Everyone is so attached to the cyber bullying part, but trust me, I'm absolutely positive a lot of people here probably had a part of it. I don't want to sound like a jerk or anything, but if people cared that much, they would have helped her because she was clearly trying to reach out. That's just my two cents.
I blame social networking. Kids these days all want to have and maintain facebooks, twitters and such, posting everything about themselves and what they are doing. It makes it so easy to become a target on online bullying and since almost everything is related to social networking these days anything you do and say can stay with you for potentially the rest of your life wherever you go no matter what, unless people get bored/tired with it. I'm not saying social networking is the sole cause, as bullying has been around forever. Just that in these modern times with all these new fads and these obsessions of being always connected really contributes and encourages abuse of such personal information that teens share openly without thought of the consequences or what creeps might get a hold of it. I personally stay away from sites likes Facebook and MySpace but I see how it can be a useful tool for meeting new people and making friends, but I feel the risks of sharing too much information about yourself is good enough reason to stay away from it all together.
She's cute ;) why would any male bully her? In a relationship or not I wouldn't of used her like that.
wow@the comments on the video, she's still being bullied by internet tough guys, like who the fuck are you trying to impress? she's dead already, and literally 96% of the goddamn comments on there are condolences and you have the balls to say "haha ur goin 2 hell lil whore", what are you five you cunt?
Some people don't think with their dicks
Whaddya know
Maybe more people should?
If they did, she would probably still be alive.
I wouldn't mind volunteering or working for those anti-bullying helplines. Knowing you could stop something like this, I think would be a great feeling.
-snip i'm an ignorant dumbfuck-
"I'm so sad, depressed, have anxiety, panic disorders, im cutting, never go out, so lonely, I have nobody."
Fucking attention whore. I'm sick of people like that. I bet half of that shit is made up. She just got called whore twice and suddenly became very sad and depressed and made this sad video with sad music.
