I guess I didn't move to Canada soon enough. It's been fun posting with you all. Good bye.
I have no job, a 7,000 or so college bill, my dad ran off so he wouldn't be effected by it and now I get by (barely) with my moms paycheck. Did I mention she is seriously ill and no one is hiring right now? This is pretty much my end :v:
Join the club, my friend. Time to head to the shanty town.
Washington was right when he said that political parties would lead to no good.
So will this affect any other countries apart from America? Will the price of their exports rise?
There was a piece in the Washington Post today that I think sums up the problems with these negotiations quite well: "Conservatives are on a winning streak because they have a Big Idea that serves as an animating, motivating, unifying force. It happens to be a very bad idea, but it’s better than nothing — which, sadly, is what progressives have. The simplistic Big Idea that defines today’s Republican Party is that taxes are always too high and government spending is always wasteful. Therefore, both taxes and spending need to be reduced. That’s basically it. There are a couple of asterisks: Many conservatives, perhaps most, don’t consider the military a part of “government” per se and are more amenable to defense spending; and even a Tea Party freshman is more likely to keep an open mind about the publicly funded infrastructure project in his or her own district. There is also an overarching philosophy about the relationship between government and the individual, and some conservatives imagine a “return” to a Jeffersonian Arcadia that never was." http://www.washingtonpost.com/opinions/why-the-progressives-need-a-big-idea/2011/07/28/gIQAMrPtfI_story.html
So will this affect any other countries apart from America? Will the price of their exports rise?
The dollar is probably going to fall so if I remember right that means exports are cheaper and imports are more expensive.
Exports? How could a country whose people degenerated into roving bands of cannibalistic barbarians export anything?
Exports? How could a country whose people degenerated into roving bands of cannibalistic barbarians export anything?
I didn't realise America was in such a bad state when it's only Saturday, I suppose by Tuesday Obama'll just nuke everything then.
Most people haven't realized what happened yet, but when the news starts reporting that we defaulted all civilized society will end as we know it and rape and murder will happen in the streets. Its like if Cthulhu woke up.
Jesus you would think that with the economy as it is we would be long gone from the pointless wars.
Jesus you would think that with the economy as it is we would be long gone from the pointless wars.
To be fair, they do have points, just not ones you think are right.
Obama issued a message about the current situation: http://www.msnbc.msn.com/id/21134540/vp/43954740#43954740 Anyone from any side want to tell me he's being anything but reasonable and fair?
Is it just me or is Obama looking less black lately?
Oh yeah, did I mention that I submitted a job application? And at a time like this. I'll have fun not working.
And not getting any welfare too.
To be fair, they do have points, just not ones you think are right.
Lashing out blindly at largely insurgent groups because they may potentially attack us when we are about to default is pretty fucking pointless.
Edit
Lashing out blindly at largely insurgent groups because they may potentially attack us when we are about to default is pretty fucking pointless.
They do have a point in mind, it's just that it's largely felt to be pointless. But listen, that's not the point of this thread, and that's not the more important issue right now.
I don't understand any of this. Can someone explain this simple and short?
I don't understand any of this. Can someone explain this simple and short?
Someone may be able to do it, but for me it's a bit too complex and nuanced to put into concise terms.
So does this mean school will be shut down for a while? For one, it'll teach our generation of fuckheads to value having things handed to them such as food, air conditioning, money even. Instead of partying like they wanted too, they'll probably have to do some labor for the first time. At least they'll have some good career opportunities. I haven't taken an interest in anything other than music, and that means I have to be really good at it in order to make money. Plus, my family just went into debt in about $500. I'm covering this bill so we won't have to worry when we really can't pay it off.
I don't understand any of this. Can someone explain this simple and short?
I'll explain quickly what defaulting is. When a debtor (in this case, the US government is the debtor) fails to pay debts (in this case, the huge-ass $14 trillion debt we owe to whoever), most debt obligations of that debtor will either be frozen or the prices will rise. Mortgages, bonds, loans, etc. So the country is basically fucked if we default. And defaulting will most likely happen.
If schools shut down, that should not be the lesson you're thinking they should learn.
I'm not saying it as in they need it. But all my friends who have BMW's as their first cars haven't done anything at all in their life. I think it's my morning brain going nuts. I meant to say they'll learn to value education if it's gone.
Just out of curiosity but where does that money go anyway, I'm dumb as hell but never really saw it. We owe 14 trillion to... who exactly? I really should of paid more attention to this shit
seriously though, America is probably fucked; we'll break up into a squabbling collection of mini-countries that used to be states. It'll be just like medieval Germany! Now you've gone and done it, you conservative fuckwits. You ballsed it up. Ballsed it up big time.

Is there still a chance of this plunging the world into the great depression round 2?
Now you've gone and done it, you conservative fuckwits. You ballsed it up. Ballsed it up big time.
The democrats are just as much to blame as the conservatives are. Only an uneducated sheep who follows the most popular opinions on Ms Blames Superfantastic Leftist Entertainment Television would say something like this. [editline]30th July 2011[/editline]
Is there still a chance of this plunging to world into the great depression round 2?
Considering how many exports America has, and how many rescue, aid and life improvement efforts are centered in America, yes, this might. Especially when you consider that if America falls it will make the fall of the Soviet Union look like a minor upset.
