idk I feel really bad for some reason
i mean I hope they get plenty of food, it is a fishing village.
As much as I love cats, I feel really bad for the local wildlife :v:
The video states that a few cats have been neutered to attempt to control the population. Also, I'm not sure how this is animal abuse if the cat population just simply went haywire without the need of humans to do so.
If the population 'went haywire' it's the duty of the governemnt to attempt to control it, as the poster above you said some of the cats gets treated poorly as well.
Besides that there's still tons of problems that people just ignore becuase they think it's adorable;
- Diseases
- The fact that the locals failed to control the population
- Food, you can't rely on all the locals to just donate shittons of food to the cats, sure, the cats might be getting some fish but they aren't supposed to feed solely off of fish
- Inbreeding
Don't get me wrong, I love cats and animals in general. Hell, my own cat was saved from the street because she had been ditched in a bush by herself at approx. 4 weeks age.
Point is that sadly alot of people these days just sees animals as cute and then they ditch them, half of 'em die and those who don't end up having miserable lifes on the street while a very small percentage gets saved and transferred to real, loving, families.
This goes for cats and dogs especially, sure these cats might look happy but trust me, they both want and deserve better than to be street cats on a small island.
Why would they control the population when it's a perfect tourism opportunity for them to capitalize on?
I like how they are all very similar in breed so you know that in the past one male cat got super busy.

Because if the cats start to inbreed and starve that would be animal cruelty, or do you live in some fantasy world where all animals are forever happy, fed and loved?

the fact that most of those cats look well fed and healthy makes me really happy.
I know I will regret this later - But do show me this island of Giant Hornets.
Couldn't find a good video of that forest that's packed with hornets, but here's a video of bees ganging up on a giant hornet and cooking it to death. No, seriously, it gets cooked to death.

It's better to have a cat island then let say, giant spider island? I just hope those cats don't starve and start attacking people for food.
When I was somewhere south of Spain near the Mediterranean sea every late evening some woman would drive down to the docks with tons of cat food and feeds like literally 50+ cats. I saw this a few times when I was going for a walk and it was pretty much like the videos from Cat Island. She told me it was mostly ownerless cats from people who thought they were going to live in Spain for a while but had to leave. I don't it's common to spray or castrate cats in that area so I guess they also breed like crazy.
We had one cat coming to us begging for food and I was stupid enough to give it something so it never stopped asking. I don't think it's right to do this because it kinda sucks to have your cat stay somewhere else because they spoil it with food.
Wasn't this the plot to a Metalocalypse episode
