It's about FUCKING TIME
Settle down people, this was a list voted on by a small population of Australian hipsters. This is not the universal list that everyone has to agree to or they will be violently murdered.
If you don't like the choices you can always make your own list and circlejerk over that.
you cant be a hipster and like oasis
you cant be a hipster and like oasis
trust me I'm a hipster and oasis is awful
Good to see some of The Killers there but I reckon some of their other tracks deserve to be on there. Definitely Why Do I Keep Counting? and All These Things That I've Done.
A bit disappointed that 360 isn't there because he has some good stuff as well.
The list isn't about what your personal preference is, it's about on the whole, what the most iconic songs have been. Wonderwall isn't MY favourite songs (as much as I love Oasis, seen them at one of their last gigs at Murrayfield and was brought up listening to their music), Wonderwall is a song that everyone and their grans dog can sing, in full, to you.
Except the list is missing some awfully iconic songs.
this is why 2dayfm is the best aus radio station

You can't be a hipster while calling yourself hipster because calling yourself hipster is too mainstream which would mean you're doing it for the irony which is also mainstream so you are not a hipster but you are.

I used to deny it but then I realized that nobody has ever heard of any of my favorite bands, my belt is hand-tooled by a local artisan, and by choice I spend hours at a time typing on a keyboard that predates windows NT

Here we have the ultimate patrician in his natural environment.
Wonderwall being my favorite song of all time, these guys have good taste :).
And yet I've never heard it. In fact, I don't think I've heard any of the top 25 on that list. I have heard #26 (Chop Suey by SOAD) though.
Wonderwal is quality, you lot need to get pissed more and go to Magaluf
go to Magaluf
no thx
Oh cool, Self Esteem made the list. Love that song.
Except the list is missing some awfully iconic songs.
Like what for example? Be aware that they need to have existed in a certain timeframe AND have been on one of the Triple J Hottest 100's of the last 20 years.
I don't get the outrage some people (cough Daniel M) have for top music lists. It's pretty much impossible to have an objective list. I don't like a lot of the songs in the list but I can appreciate them in their own right (although Wonderwall is definitely not my favorite Oasis song after listening to a few.)
they just uploaded this

In descending order: '08, '06, '99.
[SUP]That was from 22 years ago...[/SUP]
Wonderwall is not exactly a spring chicken.
In descending order: '08, '06, '99.
I would have liked a Hot Chip song but it didn't make top 50 in 08, neither did Beck in 99 or Kayne in 06.
I was more disappointed that there wasn't a Sigur Rós song but I think Gobbledigook made 93 in '08. It makes me wonder out of that list which songs didn't make the top 25 in their respective years. Might have to have a run through it and see.

Hmm Daft Punk – One More Time got Pos 61 in '01.
Ahh the Wiki has it. http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Triple_J_Hottest_100_of_the_Past_20_Years,_2013

So I can see that only 3 songs did not make the top 50 in their respective year but seemed to score higher in a later all-time hottest 100 which shows their over time lifespan.
Everlong - Foo Fighters was Pos 61 in 2006 but for the acoustic version, came 9th in the All Time in 2009.
Sweet Disposition - The Temper Trap was Pos 102 in 2008, so that was def a late bloomer.
I just think it's interesting to see that most of the 100 placed in the top 50 in their respective years, and it's not all just recent years. 49 from the 90's, 43 from the 00's & 8 from the 10's

I'm also going to guess that most of the songs ended up on the Hottest 100 CD's.
I think Over and Over is bigger than Ready for the Floor but nothing from Hot Chip has been on Triple J's Hottest 100
Hot Chip has had a few songs in the Hottest 100 over the years.
I would have liked a Hot Chip song but it didn't make top 50 in 08, neither did Beck in 99 or Kayne in 06.

If the Hot 100 was a look at iconic songs of the year and not a subjective list where people voted for some pre-selected songs then each song would've definitely been ranked far higher in their respective years.

Aren't the voting lists for each year made up of any song played on Triple J during that year, plus you could vote for a song not listed by typing it in? Makes sense that the pre-selected songs for the Triple J countdown are songs played on Triple J that year.
Wonderwall isn't a bad song but it's nowhere near the best song of the last 20 years.
It's not even the best song on the album.
Maaaaybe, this song is going get lameeeeerr. I woooooonder wwwwwhy.
I disagree with everything on that list.
Personally I think hotel yorba should be somewhere up there.
