The parkour is neat, but not enough to get me to drop $50+ on it. Many games say they are teamwork oriented but they never are. I don't give a rats ass about customization. I think that type of artstyle is hideous.
They had very specific reasons for choosing a distinctive art style, they didn't just want it to look like another "hurr photo realistic" shooter like the COD series. The art style is pretty good and map design and detailing is amazing. Also, chances are these "not really teamwork" games you referred to were never designed around teamwork, this game however is and chances are you're bound to fail without teamwork. For example, self-reliability in the game won't work, if you heal/buff/resupply yourself it won't be as effective as a teammate doing it to another teammate.
I still hate the art style.
Says it's focused for teamwork, but in reality it will be one person working and the rest worrying about killing and ranking up for more weapons and unlocks.
You obviously didn't look into the game that much saying the only way (that is somewhat effective) to get more weapons and unlocks is by doing teamwork.

You can't just make assumptions about this game. There is so much being done to stand out from the games that you see these days that you really have to look into it. Please, do some research before you write this game off as some cheap run & gun clone with a different art style.
I find it funny how when people try to leave the realism art style (DA2, Brink, etc.) the art gets criticized, but then when its realistic everyone complains anyways.
Agreed, for me games that try really hard to look realistic look like gimmicky shit most of the time.
I find it funny how when people try to leave the realism art style (DA2, Brink, etc.) the art gets criticized, but then when its realistic everyone complains anyways.
I personally have no problem with other art styles, but the really long stretchy faces and giant noses is not my cup of tea.
bethesda
Are the publishers. Splash Damage are the developers who made those animations.
To be honest, it looks like Borderlands Graphics (awesome) with Mirror's Edge freerunning (not interested) and MAG Gameplay (stale and boring).
rent before buy

Why do people act like the parkous aspect is the main part of the game? Dont get me wrong its big, but it still an FPS, not a mirror's edge clone.

It will be, from what I've read, one of the first actually teambased games. It wont save K/D ratios, it will only give you XP depending on what you've done during the game. More XP for mayor objectives being done and very little for killing.
it still looks similar to the previous splash damage games to me (Wolfenstein Enemy Territory, Enemy Territory Quake Wars). And that sounds good. btw it's sad that ETQW got totally trounced by the unexpected release of tf2
dis game looks liek a mix of need for speed and rock band
I'm waiting until a review until I buy this. if the reviews are good I'll buy it in a heartbeat
I think i was like, "Holy FFFUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUCCCKKK!" when i got solid info about this game.
And i couldn't care less.
ITT: People who think shooting at people is the core gameplay.
ITT: People who think shooting at people is the core gameplay.
I'm fucking sick of "Team based shooter with guns and ironsights? COD ripoff" Yeah, because CoD invented guns and ironsights
This is 2011, not 2000... What is their excuse for those shitty incap animations?
This is 2011, not 2000... What is their excuse for those shitty incap animations?
I'd say optimization or lack of good motion cap crews. But I really don't know, and they don't bother me at all.
As long as the gameplay's decent I won't let shitty animations kill it for me
I know most of you guys won't agree with me on this, but I think it looks quite boring. Sure, it features a cool movement system like Mirrors Edge and lots of customization on the weapons, but the core gameplay - shooting that is, looks boring. [editline]29th April 2011[/editline] I guess it would look better on the PC
I played it at PAX and I went into it thinking the same thing. But trust me, it's fun. I don't know what it is about it, but it's a very fun game. I'm definitely getting it.
As long as the gameplay's decent I won't let shitty animations kill it for me
I know some people who won't even touch certain games if the animations aren't up to their standards, regardless of gameplay quality. :frown:
I know some people who won't even touch certain games if the animations aren't up to their standards, regardless of gameplay quality. :frown:
I knew a guy who refused to play games if they looked shitty. People nitpick about the weirdest shit. I don't understand. All the CoD haters bitch about things that I never really find to be problematic, everyone says Crysis 2 is shit because Crysis 1 looks better (I wholeheartedly disagree, the landscape is different oh well, there are some GORGEOUS cinematic moments) Either way, when I get money, I'm getting this. It looks ages better than CoD.
