I kinda expected this.
But America needs to help itself. Stop worrying about everyone else for fucks sake

This IS helping the United States.
Did you not read how much oil there is in South Sudan?
Okay, that's good. As long as that "support" doesn't turn out to be another excuse for a decade-long military occupation, I'm cool with it.
Clearly this is because Obama admires their president's style.
Just look at this guy:

I love how history has proven you denying it so wrong it hurts.
I love all the high and mighty people on FP. It's called politics, you protect people who can give you things you want. It's not nice, it's not charitable, but the world isn't charitable and if you show yourself to be vulnerable you will be devoured.
None of you people bashing the US for helping countries with strategic locations or oil would do any good at running a country of your own. You can't always be the nice guy.
Except the US doesn't need more foreign oil or military bases, so your argument pretty much falls flat on its fucking face when faced with the fact the US instigates shit it shouldn't and can easily avoid.
North Sudan: Still as fucked as ever, less resources edition.
of course this is all for oil not the people's well being

It's establishing diplomatic relations and aid with a new nation, it is literally incapable of being a resource grab.

that's what they said about middle eastern countries too
I for one do not like the idea of a nation split apart. Imagine if USA split into two nations. Why would Sudan be two. They could have been rich together

They said that about Iraq
They said that about Iraq
Except that when we said that we were invading a country following 9/11. It wasn't justified, but you should at least be able to tell that this is a different situation.

I love the vague "middle eastern countries" thing you threw in there. I bet if the US' ever does anything friendly towards any African/Middle Eastern nation again, you'll be there to tell us that it's a resource grab.
While this is nice, what about our own economic problems?
If the US has access to more oil fuel prices can go down then food prices can drop and so on on so forth, not that it will but if it did then it'd help.

Except the US has a long history of resource grabbing.

The US already has plenty access to Oil, it's just addicted to overpriced foreign oil. And as much as I disagree with it, there's plenty of oil around the US to tap into. Oil is a Ghastly fuel, but it's currently plentiful.
.

And that's one of the reasons you're living the cushy life you have.
I for one do not like the idea of a nation split apart. Imagine if USA split into two nations. Why would Sudan be two. They could have been rich together
Horrific genocide and civil war plagued Sudan ever since the end of WW2 because of the differences between the north and south halves of the country. It's inaccurate to compare Sudan to the USA because Sudan's shape/makeup was more or less determined by European imperialists who wanted a piece of the African pie, often placing antagonistic tribes/peoples against one another.
And that's one of the reasons you're living the cushy life you have.
I'm not exactly living a cushy life and how exactly does that factor in?
[editline]9th July 2011[/editline]
So you're saying imperialism and resource stealing is a-okay because it helps you?
But the sudanese people want only one sudan. :/

Both of you literally know fuck all about Sudan. The south has been trying to split apart from the north for half a century.
"United States establishes diplomatic relations with new African country, just as it already has for pretty much every country in the world"
