Germany remains world's most popular country as opinions of Russia deteriorate, annual BBC poll show

Now all that needs to happen is for Germany to have a good flag again.
canada's #1 export to the rest of the world is politeness
That's the UK though.
it's really strange how resilient germany has been in the aftermath of WWII. they spread their population across numerous continents, died in ludicrously high numbers, spent all their wealth on fueling the war and building new technology they thought would help them win, they lost brutally and had much of their country left in ruins, they completely destroyed their reputation and made themselves the least liked country in the world.... then they proceeded to become a world super power again within the span of a couple decades, continue to be at the forefront of technology and innovation, have one of the best standards of living in the world and now are the most popular country in europe.
Keep in mind that a significant reason for german resurgence was also the Marshall plan which helped them rebuild after the war.
We're more popular than France, all is well.
Excuse me? Why is Germany more popular than Canada?
Jokes aside though, really why is Germany so popular?
You are clearly an imposter pretending to be a Canadian. A real Canadian would have apologized for not being as well liked.
Hitler wasn´t german, he was austrian. And Germany wasn´t majorly responsible for 1st world war. It was Austria. Germany was just allied and forced to join the war. And world war 2 was just a response to the unfair Treaty of Versailles that was the result of the defeat of the Axis powers. And that gave loads of fuel for the nationalsocialists to take over the country.
On Hitler, while he was born in Austria he was German politician and practically led the whole nation. Doesn't get any more German than that.
Regarding the 1st world war, "just allied and forced" doesn't give you a free pass. Regarding the second, last time I checked means didn't justify the cause.
How many Canadian products do people outside of Canada know. Just as an example.
Red Green, Nathan Fillion, William Shatner, Justin Beiber.

If allied and forced to join the war doesn't "give you a pass" then Britain and France are just as responsible for WWI as Germany. As for WWII it isn't about justification, it's about understanding how a politician like Hitler could get into power. The Treaty of Versailles was pretty ridiculous in what Germany could and couldn't do within its own borders, they couldn't have any soldiers in the region bordering France.
I remember last time Germany was most popular.
Germany is the coolest European country, France stinks.
Interesting opinion. I live in Germany for like 20 Years now and so far I can say that it was a wonderful time. I mean, we have extremely high standards of living while everything is still cheap as fuck. For example you can get a pretty good beer (0,5 litres) for about 0,80 €, which is approx. 1 $. Also it's very open minded and social in most parts. And finally the parties which are the reason why Berlin is still not only the capital of Germany but also the capital of the world regarding extremely well made Techno, House and Minimal.
Whoever plans to go to Europe, visit Berlin and go to one of the clubs, i.e. Sisyphos or Berghain. The last one got voted on first place of the best clubs ever (source: Rolling Stone). There are no real closing hours, so people bring toothbrushes and pillows to a party, I swear. I'm really proud to live here and have such a wonderful life.
Also, some insider tipp regarding other german cities: Leipzig (some say it will redeem Berlin), Dresden (fucking beautiful and historic city).
The only thing I find a little bit sad about Germany is its topography for it's not very ambivalent.
Also, France is great, especially Paris (and its women) was astounding.
Germany may be the #1 most popular country, but you know what they aren't number 1 in ?
Having the Alsace-Lorraine. Vive la France !
Jokes aside, Dresden is a very beautiful city. Definitely recommend going there.
oh how times change Germany. going for the diplomatic victory

It would probably be closer if it wasn't for Harper doing such outrageous shit in recent years, like being horribly anti-science with destruction of records and cutting of science positions/departments.
