The BBFC, film censorship board for the UK, have officially awarded a 'U' certificate to a ten-hour film of paint drying, created as part of a protest of its practices by British filmmaker Charlie Lyne.
Lyne first established a Kickstarter to fund the submission of a film entitled Paint Drying to the Board of Classification; one which would consist of a single, unedited shot of white paint drying on a brick wall. The money raised would pay for the BBFC's imposed tariffs on having work certified, which Lyne believes unfairly burdens independent filmmakers who must fork out an average of $1,000 per submission.
Having declared every donation would further contribute to the film's run-time (as tariffs are calculated by a per-minute fee), the campaign ended up raising £5,936 and allowed Lyne to submit a 607-minute film to the censors; though it's still beaten by Jacques Rivette's 1971 Out 1, running at 775 minutes, as the longest film to be reviewed for classification by the board.
Took them two days apparently as they are only allowed to watch 9 hours of material in a day
A clip from the movie:

More entertaining than the new Star Wars movie.

I laughed even though I haven't watched that movie.

out of all comparisons you could choose from, from all the shittest, most garbage tier movies, you choose something that was actually incredibly decent?
in my total honest opinion, the classification at the moment is pathetic.
If you're going to have "12A", why not "15A" or "18A"...
I'm p sure I saw Terminator and Die Hard aged 8.
These days it's easier for a 9 year old to smoke and drink alcohol than it is to watch a MOVIE that is make-believe and not real.

what
Deserves an Oscar.
Yeah we really need another Oscar nominated film with NO black actors. Plus this film doesn't even come close to passing the Bechdel test it's disgraceful
what
in my experience it was easier to get booze at the corner store at age 15, than to get into a movie rated 13 when i didn't have my id
Yeah we really need another Oscar nominated film with NO black actors.
Don't you think that maybe there are NO black actors because they aren't as good as the people that are currently nominated? Oscars aren't made for diversity, they're made to judge acting ability.

Just slap a line of black paint and it'll be ready

Dude, spoilers!
Pretty sure paint dries in less time than that. But hey, extra budget means extra cinematic goodness.

can you not stir shit in an unrelated thread
also, does the film have a planned release date for blu ray?

the cast was extremely whitewashed
what
You can be confused but it's a true story.
And in this country, it's legal for a parent to give their children alcohol in a restaurant.

I wouldn't say incredibly decent. One can say the most bland star wars like white paint drying over red brick, but that excuses it's flaws which are on the level of the prequels.
i did not liked the lack of black in this movie
i did not liked the lack of black in this movie
We better boycott this literal whitewashing of walls in film.
I can't buy this, does anyone have a torrent for this movie? really looking forward to see it with my dad

I'm just joking oh god please don't ban me because of a movie with paint drying
Pretty sure paint dries in less time than that. But hey, extra budget means extra cinematic goodness.
Depending on the paint, humidity, and temperature; it can take a full week for paint to dry and cure.
Deserves an Oscar.
Nah man, its a complete white-wash.
At 00:23 was that CGI or old fashioned SFX?
When asked to clarify how the submission was received, a spokesperson insisted no special treatment was given to the film; "Examiners are required to watch a very wide variety of content every day, so this didn't phase them." So, yes, they did watch every minute of it.
Makes you wonder what kind of shit these guys probably have to deal with if this didn't phase them.
I wonder if they can get a ten hour movie of the classification board watching paint dry submitted to the classification board.

If you're giving this 9 year old weed/cigarettes and alcohol why not just take him into the move with you? :v:
Highlight of the movie and definite breakout star of the film, the fly that tempts fate and lands on the wall at 5hours 43mins, stupendous realistic performance by the actor i must say!
He did an IAmA on Reddit, seems to be getting his arse kicked from people who actually know a thing or two about the BBFC and film classification in the UK. I actually heard about this on Mark Kermode's Film Review on Five Live some time ago and even then it came across as massively obnoxious and ignorant.
I don't believe for one second that any single person sat through it. I wouldn't be surprised if the job sliced videos up into segements and distributed them out among employees for segment rating
This movie is so racist. There is no black paint featured in it :v:
I'm not sure about this fact but its suppose to be when you report a video on youtube someone has to review the entire video to be sure that it doesn't have the offensive material in it.
