What if I'm Hindu? I should make a swastika emblem, wait for them to ban me, then sue them for discrimination.
If it's a black swastika in a white circle with a red background, it is referring to Nazis.
Otherwise I bet you could use it.
another example of the Jewish media oppressing anything anti-Israel.
The swastika in this meaning and color is a bad thing.
The flag of Japan and hammer and sickle are easier to make, and both nations killed a hell of a lot more people than the Nazis did.
Yeah, since they pretty much associated the Nazis with genocide and war crimes, yet there are some who did far worse than Hitler and his cohorts.
If you put the American flag as your DP, does it mean you support airstrikes on schools and weddings?

Nazi Buddhists? Oh nvm thats the Sauwastika.
Xbox LIVE is paid service. Not having to see something that offends them is one of the things the people who use it pay for. If it was free, like PSN, then that would be different.
Also, I report people with swastikas/penises if they be asslicks in the game. Nazi campers, enjoy your bans.
Is there anything more offensive then the Swastikas
Yes
Unless you are limiting it to solely geometric shapes, probably not
Why the fuck did Hitler have to ruin all the stylish uniforms, and these nice patches for everyone else just because he hated jews?

there is so many of these on the PC too i hope they ban them too
Think about it. Most of the people who are making the swastikas are probably 12 year kids. Most 12 year old kids are too stupid to know the original meaning of it. So they're probably just using it in the Nazi way as a means of trolling.
I saw a few around on the PC, but I don't really care because I highly doubt there are a million neo-nazis playing Black Ops.
no one uses it "for it's original symbolism". They're just trying to stir up a dumb controversy where people get mad at them over it and they can respond "It's an ancient hindu symbol of peace, don't you know anything about history? :smug:"
also the people complaining about how call of duty games have had swastikas on flags and banners need to understand that there is such a thing as context
You can use hammers and sickles freely, but not swastikas? Now don't get me wrong, I'm not complaining about H&S's, but seriously, if you allow the symbol of one ideology, you shouldn't have a right to block another- some would link the H&S to Stalin and Mao who combined lead tot he deaths of over 100 million people- yet the symbol of an entire ideology is banned?
Iunno, I find this hypocritical.
edit broke automerge
If someone had a background that suggested its original meaning, then I'd reconsider. But the clear use of the red-and-white background tells no lies.

I don't know, communism isn't near as out of context as naziism in this scenario.
I don't give a shit about the swastikas, it's the fucking penises and 420 emblems that are annoying.
And this is why I don't play Call of Duty on the Xbox.
Most people see Swastikas as a symbol hate yet its a symbol that existed far long ago... as peace.
People these days :|
It's totally funny how XBL is banning instantly for swastikas but they continue to do little to nothing about modders, hackers, etc.
Ahem
The problem with this symbolism in the game is that people take offense to it and if people continued to use it someone will eventually sue somebody. So it's either let idiots use swastikas and take a lawsuit, or take action before a lawsuit occurs.

That's because those sorts of things are harder to trace down to one definable point, it may breach the terms of service but it wouldn't cause a lawsuit, now would it?
The Swastika itself isn't even bad, it's just what it is associated with.
yet one more reason to continue pushing on to get my new computer instead of throwing in the towel and getting an xbox
[editline]23rd November 2010[/editline]
not that i'd use a swastika as an emblem
[editline]23rd November 2010[/editline]
unless i was trolling

very hard

most people see the swastika as a symbol of hate because it was most prominently used by the most unarguably evil and malicious force ever to exist on the face of the earth. That's not a "people these days" moment, that's a completely natural thought process.
Oh fuck mine is a dongocopter running into the twin towers that I use to piss people off, time to change it.
What if I want to be pre-WW2 45th Infantry Division of the US Army?

i am offended by the xbox as it is a symbol of shit games and corporate evilness please destroy all xboxs at once or ill refuse you the right to live
Oh fuck mine is a dongocopter running into the twin towers that I use to piss people off, time to change it.
Why?, You aren't supporting the nazis with that, evidently they don't care.

thats not unarguable i can easily argue that there are much more evil forces still existing today
