Guys, this is about the oil spill. Lets not get into another religion discussion in the News forum.
Agreed. In any case, if this motivated people to actually get up and do something about the oil spill, I'd be inclined to say this is a good thing. But I won't hold my breath.
I'm going to give it a rest. Praying may make them realize the tools they need to get off their ass and use. Done. No more religion argument from me.
This is beautifully ridiculous. Trolling is a art.
Don't you mean "Trolling is a art."?
Don't you mean "Trolling is a art."?
Yeah that's kinda what he said.
Don't you mean "Trolling is a art."?
yes trolling is a art.
yes trolling is a art.
He probably meant trolling is "an" art.
Dr. Fishtastic makes a point. Show me some CREDIBLE proof God desn't exist. I've shown you at least one CREDEIBLE source that God exists.
He doesn't make a good point. In fact I specifically stated that we weren't going down that path. We're going down the "You worship an evil god" path. You have devoted your entire life to serving a massively powerful malevolent being. Whom you serve purely out of fear and sheer cowardice.
Dr. Fishtastic makes a point. Show me some CREDIBLE proof God desn't exist. I've shown you at least one CREDEIBLE source that God exists.
When did you?
Praying is better than what BP is doing. AKA nothing
Praying is better than what BP is doing. AKA nothing
Actually it's worse since praying gives false hope and you also start to believe that the problem will be fixed so you won't do jack shit about the problem.
@GunFox Screw you. Prove there's no God. Prove there's no logic in our beliefs. It has been proven by many scientists that the univers couldn't have been created without some form of intervention of some kind. Hence, a god exists. --Sorry, derailed-- Back to topic. I like the idea. We have taken separation of church and state and bastardised it to where we are nearly killing religion off all together. Praying got the constitution written in 13 weeks when they couldn't get a single word down for months. Prayer helped this country be created. Praying may just give these men, and maybe others, the wisdom and insight to fix this damned oil spill. I say they should go for it. --Dearil again-- And, @nullsquared, where do you get off bashing Christians? We acutally get things done. You damned Bhuddists, Muslims, Atheists, and wtfever else have ddone nothing to fix this. Go ask Allah or Bhuddah or Science to give you the intelligence and resources to clean this up and then we will talk. Christianity has done more than just wate time. Like I said to GunFox, we Christians created a country, wrote a governmental system in 13 weeks, and our prayer saved many men from being killed because God left a fog sitting to let George Washington and his men escape. How can anyone explain that? God's miracles are inexplicable. Another @GunFox God gave the Earth to man and Satan. He does NOT.....I don't know how to put it into words. I gues we have free will, and the Earth is man's. God will give people the wisdom, and help his children (yes you too) but not the planet becuase it is Satan's influence not his. He gives us the intelligence and ability to fix things and help others. The holocaust was satan's doing, noy God. God did not allow it to happen. He did, however, allow Hitler, the Nazi, and their supporters have their free will. CItations God Exitsts: http://www.everystudent.com/features/isthere.html http://www.msnbc.msn.com/id/6688917/ The Revolutionary War. Examine the events, and explain thos with science.
Didn't George Washington have like a crazy sex addiction? Oh no adultery.
I said I was done with it, now drop it down a fucking hole and bury it. Give it a rest and talk about the damned fixing the oil spill.
You guys got any better ideas?
My fucking god... Retarded mudskippers. God wouldn't want you to sit their, and pray to him when your ruining his creation. Get your asses out of the fucking swamp, and stop begging for welfare you fucking freeloading cunts. Jesus Christ... I'm shocked the US Navy hasn't done anything yet. We've been able to man submarines down to the depths of Mariana Trench, but we can't cap a fucking oil well? Come on people...
"Mudskippers"? :raise:
Dr. Fishtastic makes a point. Show me some CREDIBLE proof God desn't exist. I've shown you at least one CREDEIBLE source that God exists.
I was being neutral, not taking any sides
I'm going to through my normal atheist logic out the door and use some of my D&D logic. Yahweh is CLEARLY chaotic evil. He goes into fits of rage when his followers don't fear him in the correct way. Shit, he flooded this entire fuck plain of existence just because his followers were few and far between. And then he let's some six million of his "chosen" people get slaughtered by men of another deity. And THEN he let's the fertile Gulf of Mexico circum to a great contagion. Fucking shit, he is a cold hearted motherfucker. I can't imagine how terrible and corrupted his clerics are.

[editline]06:40PM[/editline]
Louisiana lawmakers do not equal the rest of Louisiana's population.
Yeah, they're just the people chosen by Louisianians to represent them.
You guys got any better ideas?
Yes, trying to swim down there and fill the hole with whales and dolphins. It has a bigger chance of working.
He doesn't make a good point. In fact I specifically stated that we weren't going down that path. We're going down the "You worship an evil god" path. You have devoted your entire life to serving a massively powerful malevolent being. Whom you serve purely out of fear and sheer cowardice.
So basically you're changing the subject. If God is evil for letting the Holocaust happen, he's not evil for letting it finish. [editline]08:01PM[/editline] And for every act of charity ever.
So basically you're changing the subject. If God is evil for letting the Holocaust happen, he's not evil for letting it finish. [editline]08:01PM[/editline] And for every act of charity ever.
So then you deny free will. Which in turn makes everyone a slave. Which in turn makes him evil again. Or we could go another route and say that the need for charity or the end of the holocaust in the first place is proof that he is evil. As an all powerful being it is more than within his power to ensure that nobody suffers.
God is a benevolent Asshat, praying to him isn't going to make him do anything. when the hell are people going to realize that the Universe doesn't care about them on a personal level and I doubt that anything on a "higher plane of existence" gives a fuck about you ether. *grabs shirt* you may choose to do good, or evil, it matters not to the Universe.
Great. That'll solve it. Obligatory image:
The OP is open-minded by attacking religion for the sake of it being religion. How does this absolve responsibility, and frankly, how does it interrupt the cleanup process at all? Think before you post.
The OP is open-minded by attacking religion for the sake of it being religion. Think before you post.
it interrupts the cleanup process if they pray instead of actually supporting the cleanup process
Another reason to make the government entirely indepndent from religion if I ever run my own country.
The OP is open-minded by attacking religion for the sake of it being religion. How does this absolve responsibility, and frankly, how does it interrupt the cleanup process at all? Think before you post.
Notice the column next to prayer. It says "getting off your knees and actually doing something." Regardless of whether you believe prayer does something or not, [sp]hint, it doesn't[/sp] only praying will absolve responsibility and will not get anything accomplished. You are defending religion for the sake of it being religion.

I'm Christian but I still believe in the phrase "God helps those who help themselves."
Those people are fucking stupid.
