"Is X more addictive than marijuana?"
"I think all illegal drugs-"
That's not what he's asking, you moron.
The point of legalisation is to drive down the price so it's no longer a lucrative business for drug cartels and the like.
Michele Leonhart is a really nice person. I had lunch with her last year. We come from an almost identical background growing up.

She sounds like shes getting paid behind closed doors to give this anti-marijuana political agenda.
Its her job to run the Drug Enforcement Administration which enforces federal drug laws.
No shit shes getting paid for the anti-marijuana campaign. Its called her salary.
Leonhart claimed that Mexican drug cartels are "setting up shop" in Washington and Colorado in anticipation of a black market. "Whatever the price will be set in Washington and Colorado, criminal organizations are ready to come in and sell cheaper," Leonhart said. She claimed that many marijuana shops get their supplies from growing operations controlled by cartels.
This is a stupid criticism, for a number of reasons.
1) If marijuana legalization was widespread and restrictions placed on growing marijuana were removed stateside, then cartels couldn't compete with massive over the table farming operations stateside and "Walgreens" style dispensaries, no matter how much they tried to lowball. Smaller grow operations, higher risk, more difficulty in selling product, and higher transport costs would make "black market" marijuana an unprofitable venture, due to supply and demand. Who the hell would want to deal with shady cartel dealers would they could just walk into a corner store and get all their cannabinoidial fixins? How long did Speak-Easies last after the Prohibition was repealed?
2) If they sell their product directly to dispensaries, or set up their own dispensaries, then the big bad cartel has suddenly started becoming a legitimate business. As far as marijuana goes, there would no longer be need for violence and wars and covert nastiness, because they could do everything out in the open.
I would say 'Your resistance only makes my penis harder?', but then I realised it was a woman and those kind of women are only in my sexy japanese cartoons.
You all do realize that the Chief is a woman right?
What the fuck does that have to do with anything?
Oh I get it, because shes a woman she won't get anything done because she'll have to change her tampon every 30 seconds. hueehrurhurrhurr.
Jesus Christ.

It has to do with the fact that people in the thread were incorrectly saying "he" (most have since edited their posts), but hey let's not go with the simple explanation because any opportunity to shit on another poster and score some precious "zings" is a good one, right?

Hmmm... you may have had lunch with her once and she "seemed nice", but that doesn't make her look any less ridiculous for fighting a completely lost cause.
Just like how all the bootleggers in the 1920's became legal alcohol sellers who were corrupt and controlled the syst- wait that isn't how history happened.
bootleggers were your run of the mill people, cartels are however armed to the teeth and manned by ruthless killers who are not above slaughtering entire villages of people to get their product

It's not up to her to deem what is or what is not a lost cause. The federal laws are there, and they have to enforce them. The DEA has no choice in the matter.

Its her job whether she agrees with it or not.

her job puts her in an amazing position to advocate legalization as solving so many problems. shouldn't solving their own problems be part of her priorities?

I'm more amazed that you couldn't even read down a bit further to see the explanation. I simply asked this because I was wondering if no one bothered to even read the article (then again this is Facepunch).
Were picky about out weed here in Seattle. No one would ever want to buy crap mexican brick weed over indoor quality that's just as cheap.
Fucking bureaucracy at its best. They cant stop real drug problems so they go after pot. Its not the potheads in my neighborhood who are robbing people.

There is a lot of evidence that marijuana has medical benefits, when schedule 1 drugs means the drug has no medical benefits(which includes marijuana). It should atleast be rescheduled to something more fitting.
Did you watch the videos in the posts above? Her responses seem shady.
I dont mean paid by her salary obviously, i mean bribed by somebody powerful. It could even be the cartels paying the DEA.

They can fucking try, but any weed smoker knows Mexican weed fucking sucks.

can we stop using the "it's their job!" shtick in order to excuse people from doing morally reprehensible things?
it's not like she was forced into head of the DEA.
Doesn't the DEA have some blue meth to hunt down or something?

i love this attitude when it comes to law enforcement
Yeah me too. The idea that the law should just be enforced zealously with no tolerance or allowance for the enforcer to actually use their judgement is just pisspoor. Just following orders yo, I wonder how many atrocities were committed using that excuse.
