and then you end up accidentally calling someone while you're masturbating
Next - in brain interface
I wanted that for years.

My first thought at the thread title. Also, I agree with radioactive on this: hardware is more reliable and reparable.
Goddamn, that is exactly what I thought.

It's not a physical keypad; it's just light projected on the skin.
Reminds me of that ring from Titan A.E.

I think I'd rather have a Pip-Boy.
i'd prefer if we saved this pointless shit for the video games.
What are you talking about? Think about it. A soldier could have orders streamed in real-time to his helmet, he could even get information about his weapon. Whearas a civilian could have his bank balance, twitter or facebook feed, the location of his car ect. The possibilities would be endless.
It's not pointless. Augmented reality is a real industry.
Imagine this: You are a tourist. You have a pair of glasses with a GPS and gyroscope. When you turn it on, a real life HUD comes up. There's a mini-map in the corner showing you around. As you pass businesses; links to reviews seem to float in front in front of the building when you look at it. You find something that looks nice and roll up your sleeve to reveal a touchscreen strapped to your forearm. Using controls on your arm, you look at reviews and maybe suggestions for other similar restaurants. After dinner you want to see a movie, so you roll up your sleeve again and open the web browser. You Google for a movie theater near you and buy a ticket online, skipping the line at the box office without even having to go to a computer or take out your cell phone. The touchscreen and glasses are only controls for the phone that is already sitting in your pocket as you read this.
Then you have the applications to military forces, which you could imagine if you've ever played a first-person shooter.
As a matter of fact, Google is testing a sort of visual search, where you take a picture of something you are looking at, such as a monument or piece of art in a museum, and it matches the picture you took to its own massive database of pictures. Once it finds out what it is, it brings up the search results for it.
What about when your fapping and you get jizz all over your hands wouldn't that wreck the touchscreen
We're only a few steps away from having our own feed.
It looks like you would have to have your arm under that light for it to be on your hand/arm
Looks pretty sci-fi. Hopefully it'll catch on in a decade or two...
:krad2:
Cell-phone arms.
Can't confiscate those.
I'll be quite happy with technology like iPhones.
Arm touchscreen to me looks awkward and look crap usability-wise.
One step closer to Omni Tools.
Fuck yeah.

Read the info again and you'll realize, that it's just light, not a real screen.

They already do this with projected monocles and small trackballs in the palm of the gloves on some Rangers.

I'm fairly certain that's Bing you're thinking of, although Google could be doing it as well

My bad, different things
This thread is prime example of how FP only reads title and watches pictures.
I don't want to wear a projector around my arm.
So it's a projector, combined with a microphone...
That is not a touchscreen.
A projector sounds kinda lame, tbh. Now, if it were a touchscreen grafted onto your skin, THEN i'd be interested.
If you look at porn, don't forget to turn off your phone. You DON'T want to suddenly hear a vouce saying
"I'm sorry but the number 1364016876978989686345032140348679879640645132498019874984321320 is not available at the moment"
:ohdear:
Lets hope apple doesn't get on this, we don't want another iPad.

Wow you're edgy
On topic: Cool technology seems flimsy though, can't wait to see how they improve it
New Technology?
