I propose we segregate the military. "But that's unzeke of you, zeke" you may say Well not at all! We'll put the gay soldiers in the positions of intelligence officers, pilots, commanders, stuff like that. The bigots can be the grunts! (The super-bigots can be the guys who defuse landmines)
wow that is horrible

Although some modern mines do have anti tamper devices :v:
I would expect this from enlisted men or low NCOs, but from officers? How could such a man be put in charge?
Doubt they knew he was a bigot.
He was on the road to a Section Eight anyway
wow that is horrible
It's the Don't Don't Ask Don't Not Tell policy
I would expect this from enlisted men or low NCOs, but from officers? How could such a man be put in charge?
because enlisted men and NCOs are what, stupid racist homophobic morons? guy in the OP is a moron, I've never seen any problem with gays in the military, anyone that wants to serve and is mentally fit to do so is okay in my book, I don't care who they go home to at the end of the war, it's not my business anyway.

I respect his beliefs.
I respect his beliefs.
Good to see bigots can garner the respect of fools still.
they put living their lifestyle out in the open above the needs of their country and national defense
The amount of sheer IRONY is astounding. This is how I read it:
Im a putting my bigoted lifestyle out in the open above the needs of my country, my soldiers, and national defense

Do these guys expect the gays to have sex while in a gunfight, because I can't see why else they would be deemed any less of a soldier.
Maybe hes convinced that they rape the male soldiers during a firefight.
I think he can leave the military any time he wants, no matter what the reason is
repealing don't ask don't tell was stupid anyways, i don't give a fuck if people are gay but why feel the need to throw it around so much? sure, you're gay, that's cool, i really don't need or want to know. just keep your shit to yourself like everyone else.
repealing don't ask don't tell was stupid anyways, i don't give a fuck if people are gay but why feel the need to throw it around so much? sure, you're gay, that's cool, i really don't need or want to know. just keep your shit to yourself like everyone else.
Hey, another person who's incredibly fucking ignorant about what don't ask, don't tell really meant. Do you people live in a cave or do you just reject common sense? Don't Ask Don't Tell is nothing like what you make it sound like. The army went to some ridiculous lengths to find out who in the army was gay just so they could kick them out. And you don't need or want to know who's straight, but you find out pretty quick, so why don't gays get equal treatment? It's seriously impossible for me to wrap my mind around whatever justification you people use.
My personal religious beliefs and moral convictions do not permit me to treat homosexuality as an acceptable lifestyle, compatible with military service, any more than adultery, illicit drug use, or criminal activity.
And they wonder why people shit on religious guys.

They are basically condoning homophobia by forcing homosexuals to stay quiet.

You support this?

It was a fucked up policy, and there was no reason for it to exist. Tell me, what is the consequence of letting gays be open about their sexuality?
Good, I don't want him leading the troops anyways.
Hey, another person who's incredibly fucking ignorant about what don't ask, don't tell really meant. Do you people live in a cave or do you just reject common sense?
Calling him stupid won't want to make him read your argument and will only make him want to get mad.
He's probably in the closet himself
My personal religious beliefs and moral convictions do not permit me to treat homosexuality as an acceptable lifestyle, compatible with military service, any more than adultery, illicit drug use, or criminal activity.
Because thinking for myself is too fucking hard
"I did not give up my constitutional rights and freedom of religion when I joined the military. I don't believe in subjecting myself to all of the behavior modification and sensitivity training. They're going to try to push the position that this is an acceptable lifestyle."
Fuck those gays, I have rights!
Now they'll be able to throw their lifestyle in everybody's face and commanders won't be able to do anything about it."
as opposed to straight soldiers being able to throw their lifestyle in all the gay soldiers' faces :downs: [editline]2nd January 2011[/editline]
Good to see bigots can garner the respect of fools still.
there's an old saying I disagree with your opinion but I will defend to the death your right to proclaim it. In fact, him resigning is probably the best outcome that could have come from this. He doesn't have to be in a position that makes him feel uncomfortable, and everyone else no longer has to deal with a bigot that might behave horribly to the lgbt soldiers.

I can believe that someone should be allowed to have a certain opinion, while still not giving any respect to that opinion because I believe it is dumb as hell. [editline]2nd January 2011[/editline] if someone wants to be a homophobe, that's their right, but they should expect to get called out on it when they express their homophobia
Good riddance. If you're going to be hypocritical, bigoted bastard, then you shouldn't be in any position of power in the first place. And whilst I know this phrase has been repeated a lot when discussing the repeal, I wonder if anyone did this or threatened to do this when black people joined.
Honestly, it's not OK, I don't care if you are gay in the military, it's like a workplace you arn't gay in that work place, private life it's fine though. I don't want a gay private eyeing me down while I shower, it's fucking bullshit. If they are going to pull this equality shit then I want my showers to be combined with the woman showers. If they can't follow common sense and be polite enough to keep it out of the workplace then I want seperate homosexual showers or the previous option.

If people are freaked out by homosexuals but don't ask don't tell were completely removed, then you could potentially have the homosexuals shower at different times or places or work something out.
