There are alternatives to word like Open Office. Unlike on Macs where they specifically code the OS in such a way that basically NOTHING other than Apple products will work on it just to be fucking difficult.
Nice try, open office is available on Mac. Every application you'd want on Windows has a free Mac counter part. [editline]11:20PM[/editline]
Macs are overpriced, incompatible with a lot of other technologies, and plainly shit. Now what was your question?
Incompatible? Hm... How so? I haven't had a single problem with my MacBook Pro. I assume you know what you're talking about so go ahead and respond.
Macs are overpriced, incompatible with a lot of other technologies, and plainly shit. Now what was your question?
Take a look at the fucking thread, would you? It seems everything having to do with mac just gets filled with "overpriced and shitty el oh el." Yes, I understand that they are overpriced. Shitty because they are overpriced? Uh, ok... "incompatible with a lot of other technologies" like? Think about it: waaaaaay computer-illiterate family, buying their first computer. Windows isn't as noob-friendly as OS X is. There's an example scenario. It's just you all get hyped up like zombies wherever mac appears, ready to post in any operating system thread "MAC SUCKS"
I'd also like to point out that Macs also appeal to a lot of geeks too, because some of us like a minimalist setup. I used to program and I prefer Mac.
Having to press that weird logo and q just to close out a fucking application is NOT user friendly.
Having to press that weird logo and q just to close out a fucking application is NOT user friendly.
Wow.
Macs are overpriced, incompatible with a lot of other technologies, and plainly shit. Now what was your question?
If anything Windows is more incompatible with current technologies. Remember IE?
Get Vista, has a cooler name, and they are both based on the same Platform.

You also have such a wider reach of applications you can add, and if there is a hardware failure or you want to upgrade, you can spend a little money, and do it yourself, or spend a little money and have someone do it for you instead of having to buy an entirely new system. The only reason you see the upper-class families with Macs is because they have more money than they ever know what to do with, so they buy the expensive Mac just because its expensive, then circlejerk with the other upper-class twits over the fact that they just blew over half the salary of a man at the poverty level on one object. Its the same reason they buy their bratty, spoiled teenagers a new car every five weeks after they've totaled the previous one and give them the credit card with no limits on it. Hey, I managed to rant about macs and upper-class twits in one post, I like that.
That's a broad generalization to say that only rich people buy Macs because they are expensive. I bought mine because the durability (Nothing beats aluminum unibody without losing portability) and smoothness of OS X. And I run Windows on it to play games on Steam.
Why do people buy macs if they're just going to run windows on it?
As stated in my post above. If you give me a solid unibody metal Windows laptop with dual booted Hackintosh I'd take it.
As stated in my post above. If you give me a solid unibody metal Windows laptop with dual booted Hackintosh I'd take it.
Or just get a half decent laptop body. Or build up your upper body strength and tote around a desktop. You need the exercise anyway.
You shouldn't need a solid metal laptop unless you're a total clumsy idiot.
OP just got the whole of Facepunch on them.

I do quite like the macbook cases as Nyaos is saying. They don't seem like cheap, flimsy plastic cases which dell seems to pull off nicely.
You shouldn't need a solid metal laptop unless you're a total clumsy idiot.
I'm not talking about denting it from dropping, mostly that the 4 other laptops I've used in the past, (2 Dell, 1 Toshiba, 1 Sony) degraded in many ways, from the hinge becoming loose to the power button getting stuck.
OP just got the whole of Facepunch on them.
I wonder what would have happened if he insulted atheism too?
Macbook after a battery explosion. Mmm, toast.
I still don't understand what's going on in that picture
Resell value is a legitimate thing, but if your like me, you can reuse a lot of your PC components like DVD drives etc, or just upgrade parts of your computer. With a mac, you can't just go out and BUY a new processor to put in it yourself. No no no. You need to get a new machine entirely. You also can't just BUY another internal hard drive and put it in. There's no room. Same with DVD drives and PCI cards. It's just silly. edit: PS: I got Windows 7 for free from my university anyway.
Thanks for agreeing with me on just what I said.
Well, its official, the OP is hated by facepunch. Me? I can't care less.
Well I have to wait, don't want to spend 155€ for Win7 Ultimate
Not expensive when your a student :smug:
Why did a mac user have to post this article...
I am personally a PC user and would never use a mac unless required to, but damn PC fanboys in this thread got some very shitty arguments and comebacks, you're ashaming other pc users.
You shouldn't need a solid metal laptop unless you're a total clumsy idiot.
Shit happens. It doesn't matter if you're clumsy or not. Sometimes it just happens. Calling someone an idiot because he likes more durable things is pathetic.
Or build up your upper body strength and tote around a desktop. You can get Windows 7 for $50 (AUD) if you have an applicable student email address.
You can get Windows 7 for $50 (AUD) if you have an applicable student email address.
Yea AUD
yea aud
= 45 usd
They last longer edit
Now you're just speaking out of your ass Computers last as long as you take care of them, end of story, My PC has been on nearly 24 hours a day since August 22nd, 2004 Then again I hear leaving a PC on is better than powering down, and up, and down, and up due to wear and tear at the Hardware level so I usually leave it, a Mac is just a paperweight in my eyes, It can't do half the shit a PC can do naturally, you have to go through some sort of hoops and loops to do the same thing, or at the very least something similar on a Mac

If there's one thing that I like about BSODs it's how serious they look. I mean yes obviously mac can also get major fuckup crashes that look alike, but still. Look at both screens. Mac message is like "Oh yeah something's wrong, just restart and w/e" while the windows bsod is eye piercing, you can pretty much feel it's saying "THIS STATION HAS ENCOUNTERED A SERIOUS ERROR WHICH SHOULD BE ADDRESSED ASAP". Even if just a restart fixes it (which is obviously in the message) it gives you a memorable warning. Windows. If shit goes down, you'll know it. [img_thumb]To be honest though I'm not sure that this message is the equivalent of windows' bsod. Looks like it.[/img_thumb]
