This is why people pirate.
Ah finally Australia has some competition.
So how cheap are games normally in the UK? The place I usually get my games from is from the UK and they buy the games there and ship them to AUS for around $40.

I have a feeling a lot of UK PS4 owners are gonna download Warframe :v:

Yeah good luck selling Angry fucking birds for that absurd amount.
Yeah good luck selling Angry fucking birds for that absurd amount.
For that matter, neither do NFL, NBA and Fifa either - how much of a drastic change could there be to warrant a jump in price for those games?
£62.99 for EA's games? They must be taking the piss that is completely outrageous, That's $102 for a game. Fuck that bullshit
Not making a master race statement, but people can't argue that computers are too expensive to build anymore. I still love my current-gen and older consoles, I just can't stand it when someone tries to justify a 400 to 500 (plus a game or two) console and snear at me when I suggest PC gaming.
hint for EA games, I know BF4 will be $30 for the amazon black friday sale (on pc for sure, not sure about console versions but I'd bet 360/ps3 copies would be part), you can upgrade an old generation copy to new gen for $10 after that I hope the £62.99 covers premium or something, but seriously these prices for digital copies are ridiculous
I have an old BF2 copy I never play anymore, I hope that's not too far back.
This is absolutely ridiculous, I really do hope that this is an error or only for a small amount of time.
This is absolutely ridiculous, I really do hope that this is an error or only for a small amount of time.
it probably isn't i mean, think about it. what's stopping them from selling games at that price digitally? basically nothing. they won't lose any money because they won't be making and shipping out physical copies? if some publisher tried to sell their game for 90 USD at a retailer, they could just mark it down themselves or refuse to stock it. sony's got complete control on the PSN store.
I have an old BF2 copy I never play anymore, I hope that's not too far back.
The $10 thing applies to going from PS3/360 to PS4/XBone versions of BF4, not different games entirely
i wonder if you can still game share with the same methods fuckin new games for practically half price with your mate
This isn't good, and not only the PS Store is making the prices higher, but the stores such as Game and even Tesco are increasing their prices with PS4 games as well, just have a look: Games on PS3 and Xbox 360 were around 40, while here they are trying to add another 10 or 15. So this means that I'm personally gonna stay away from the PS4 for some time and stay with PC.
No packaging.. No extra import costs.. No discs.. And still nearly 2x the cost of the retail price. :v:
It's because they can. Nothing more. People are still willing to pay these absurd sums, so they'll keep raising the prices until they hit a brick wall.

Oh dear god, if this is the UK's prices Australia's are going to SUCK
Is there even anything we as customers can do to get them to lower the prices? Obviously boycotting won't work, but what about taking them to court over what is essentially price fixing?
Last time I was actually in-touch with console gaming was, like, four years ago and if I recall, games were between £20 and £40 Feels really weird to consider paying that much for a video game that might not even last that long

As long as steam doesn't hike its prices I couldn't care less.
1$ = 1£ rite guys
this is the pain america can cause to those who outdo them
Oh dear god, if this is the UK's prices Australia's are going to SUCK
I think I'm just going to buy all my games from Playasia now.
Is there even anything we as customers can do to get them to lower the prices? Obviously boycotting won't work, but what about taking them to court over what is essentially price fixing?
There are actually laws considering the pricing of products and services. The prices should not go over or be underneath a certain spectrum that the market has set for standard. If the discrepancy is to high, the company should theoratically be penalised. Furthermore the consumers and overall market benefits far more if prices stay competitive, in that way prices stay more or less the same and it encourages the companies to create superior products to stay competitive preventing them to make "super-profit" which ultimatively damages the market structure. Although this should be the case in theory but very often you have unique situations or other ways to justify the increase of the prices.
Although this should be the case in theory but very often you have unique situations or other ways to justify the increase of the prices.
But its so next gen, its so high res. Look at the high res file sizes! there 5x more gigabytes than last gens games. Getting them at ONLY double the price is a steal! Look at the high resness of everything. Next gen shaders. Look at those 1024x1024 textures WITH normal maps! It takes more man power to make a game as high res and next gen as this. So many polygons in each scene with special next gen shaders making it high res and next generation. Definately worth the price.
???
that's like 100bux right?
