So if I'm understanding this tidal thing right you have to subscribe to it monthly to be able to access/listen to music, right? Please feel free to correct me if I'm wrong but that is the most retarded idea ever.
In the times I have bought an album of an artist its because I genuinely want to directly support my favorite bands and give them money to show my support. All these artists going "boo hoo people are pirating my stuff" make me shake my head. They still do shows/concerts right? I know those can ring up to pretty pricey and people will go to see them live. Won't some of them even get money from putting up music videos on youtube or whatever? Hell, some artists will get paid to have their songs/music used in various forms of media or even be sponsored. These big shot artists can't be losing tremendous amounts of money to the point they're needing every dollar they can get with like...oh I don't know, other indie artists that aren't even halfway as well known as them or might not even get a chance to be as well known as them.
So if I'm still understanding this tidal thing its supposed to 'help' those artists but also be paying the big shots as well? That's bullcrap.

I just wanted to add to my original post that I don't doubt at all that there isn't a lot of work behind making music, making music videos, writing, etc. I'd love for indie artists to get the money they deserve for the work they put into. I just can't stand when these big stars that are obviously well off are like "our music is suffering" when they're clearly well off then well...most of the population of the world and musical artists in general.
You know streaming music with a monthly fee isn't new, right? I mean, I pay for Spotfy Premium with a student discount. One of the problem with Spotify is that artist complain they give small royalties, thus why Tidal exist. The problem with Tidal is that they advertise to more well-known artists and not smaller artists, and the fact they provide a FLAC quinatiy service for twice the price.
If you really want to support an artist directly, buy their albums from their record label or Bandcamp.

Oh yeah I'm not new to the monthly fee stuff, I just wanted to be sure that was the same deal with tidal. Monthly subscriptions for music isn't something I'd personally invest in but I can see the appeal with it.
That's why I'm furious with this stupid tidal shit with all the popular artists saying "we're gonna make a big movement" which is only going to make more money for them and leave the smaller guys in the dust. That's my biggest beef with it.

I hope he makes a movie staring himself, directed by himself, with himself as the main villain, and every leading role.

Somebody should simulate this using CG

So basically the Room but maybe with Kardashians?
I never knew it was so easy to listen to this album on Spotify by simply importing a playlist from windows media player. Making songs exclusive to a service is a bit silly considering their's so many ways to easily get around it and it just promotes pirating.
Big fuckin' surprise, that thing people predicted would happen happened.
So once again piracy is mostly the effect of anti-consumer practises and general dissatisfaction with services.
better find some more even more anti-consumer drm and increase the price
Even paying directly for albums isn't enormously helpful to artists due to record labels being absolute cunts. Bandcamp is pretty okay tho. Most of their money comes from touring and merch, it's why music is the only medium that you can put together a fair case advocating that piracy is actually beneficial for, since more people listening to their music means more people going to concerts and buying t-shirts 'n shit.
So yea buy t-shirts guys
How long will it take for him to change his mind?
he then later tweeted that it won't be coming out at all

aka a lot of people wont care enough to have to fight the system to listen to the album and won't at all

as soon as that gets through his thick skull (i'm convinced he has no brain, just bone all the way through) he'll release it elsewhere lol

Only recently iTunes did DRM free music... awhile back it was required to use Apple-compliant Devices. This is still the case for movies.

Really? I don't recall this ever being the case.

Yes, really. Buying a song/album on iTunes restricted you to playing it on an Apple device/iTunes.

Really? I find it pretty easy to just move the MP3s around. So like, if I got a cheapo Sansa player and put my mp3s from itunes on it, it would refuse to play? Because in my experience I've pretty much been able to do whatever I want with the files.
