That's just what we need, an atmosphere of total distrust and paranoia. In an intelligence agency.
As anyone in the community can tell you, business as usual.

Oh yeah, that's not a hostile work environment at all. Fuck off war on terror, fuck off NSA, fuck off government secrecy. Secrecy and democracy are mutually exclusive, and it's time to figure out which one we value more.
I honestly believe this is only going to cause more harm than good. Access to personal files is a very dangerous thing. If someone like Snowden was able to enter the NSA after this program's implementation, what could a legitimate spy/terrorist/traitor do with access to government employee's personal files? This is bad news, and things keep getting worse and worse from the US gov't.
Nice going Eddie. I knew this would happen and it will get worse. If he was a real hero he would of left the U.S. and never spoke of anything he found and never return and take that dark information to his grave for the good of the people to prevent terror and panic and possible wars. Instead he tells everyone and has now caused panic and terror and there might be war now. Good going Eddie you fucking traitor.
This was an EO from 2 years ago. Like the PATRIOT Act, the US government was probably sitting on this idea and waiting for the perfect opportunity to use it. Invasive programs are always implemented to suggest that it's someone else's fault - especially whistleblowers - for violating civil liberties.
Criminal charges for NOT helping. NOT helping is now a crime? I'm pretty sure this will get abused... All of it. In general. Imagine if someone had an ax to grind with a fellow government worker? Bad times. EDIT: Define "Bad guys", lolz. All I see are perspectives and opinions when that word is crudely defined.
I suppose you could file it under negligence in case shit does end up hitting the fan and you knew he was up to something but my knowledge of the law probably isn't good enough to judge that fairly.
i know who i am. i'm the spy playin' the spy, disguised as another spy
Suddenly some random guy runs into their office, yells "SPYCHECK!", and then torches everything with a flamethrower.
Suddenly some random guy runs into their office, yells "SPYCHECK!", and then torches everything with a flamethrower.
This order is basically the metaphysical, long-term version of that. :v:
It's reasonable to assume that someone with much more malicious intentions could done what Snowden did, especially considering how there's been people in the past like Robert Hansen and Aldrich Ames.
Hey in the federal workplace, having an air of caution makes sense. Also that's a super misleading title
The only thing that can prevent people from spying on us while we spy on people to make sure they don't do anything we don't like is if we broaden our range and spy on more people to make sure they don't do anything we don't like. Logic is a key part of government.
