That's actually a horrible way to look at it, since they're not borrowing anything and have to live up to their expectations and standards of the previous games. Its more like being the younger brother who just joined highschool after your older popular brother left.
Stiffler-syndrome?
Stiffler-syndrome?
Entirely possible. You can see it on any team that tries to make re-imagining or remake of videogame. Just watch the videos of Fireaxis talking about the remake of XCOM and how carefully they make everything. You can tell its entirely scripted because one wrong word and suddenly, "DOWN WITH FIREAXIS" is cheered by the XCom fanbase. Any time its been a long time since a sequel, or a new development team has to make the next game for a very loved series. You run into these issues. Its overwhelming, especially for new devs.
You can't really take that personally. I'm gonna guess he kinda didn't notice you and/or didn't return a greeting? Usually that's rude, but he may be a bit stressed out at BlizzCon.
Well when he wasn't infront of DirecTV's cameras, he was a complete dick to everyone. I can't confirm if this is the same with Greg Street, because I didn't see him at all on the con floor.
Am I the only one who thought of "Breivik"?
Well Torchlight 2 is going to be a real game and not some tech demo like Torchlight 1, so I would just get that instead
Don't come to me saying Diablo 3 sucked ass, that's just lame. I bet many of you played it for many hours before becoming tired of it. I personally played it for 60 hours before quitting, but it's not like we thought we would have a whole lot more to do. Many people expected way too much.
Torchlight 1 was a pretty fun tech demo.

I pre-ordered the Torchlight 2 4-pack because of this.

It looks like the other chins have formed into one large exo-chin.
Torchlight 2 is going to kick the shit out of Diablo 3 it's not even funny.

"you made the fastest selling game ever" Ever consider why Diablo 3 sold? I can tell you it was certainly not from its own merit alone
That's very professional. Getting all butthurt instead of listening to his valid points. Also gotta love the cocksucking in the comments.
He didn't think he needed to be professional because he thought the facebook profile he was posting on was set to private.
I think Jay Wilson's been acting like a cunt for so long he's been empowered to a hypothetical state of Meta-Cunt.
Torchlight 1 was a pretty fun tech demo.
Even Hellgate: London was better than TL1, imo.
Even Hellgate: London was better than TL1, imo.
nah. TL1 was boring as hell but Hellgate was just broken and expensive.
I'd love to buy Torchlight 2, but I don't like the visuals either. I just want a dark, gritty demonic Diablo game again.
play path of exile then, its as dark/gritty as it gets.
PoE is garbage
What's sad is, even though Diablo 3 has a lot of problems, it isn't even that bad. Call me casual, but I'm fairly satisfied with what I got. Sure I'd like some changes here and there, but it was far from terrible. Even lore wise, besides the villains never shutting the fuck up, I didn't have that much of a problem with it. So why they got so butt frustrated over pointing out flaws is beyond me.
Torchlight 2 is going to kick the shit out of Diablo 3 it's not even funny.
Probably not.
play path of exile then, its as dark/gritty as it gets.
yeah but the combat and skills are boring and the currency/crafting system is just a huge clusterfuck
No, shut up. If the company hypes their product up and people are disappointed, saying "They expected too much" is not a valid excuse.
It's true though. A lot of people expected things out of Diablo 3 that would have been incompatible for an action RPG. The biggest complaint I've seen about the game is how grindy it is, when that is the exact purpose APRG's exist. Torchlight 2, Path of Exile, Grim Dawn, and all the other indie games that are going to be "so great" because they are indie are going to play the exact same, though probably with less amazing-feeling combat because that's Blizzards specialty.
"you made the fastest selling game ever" Ever consider why Diablo 3 sold? I can tell you it was certainly not from its own merit alone
Please do tell. I am curious about what armchair game critics on Facepunch think really drove Diablo 3's impressive sales and critical reception.
but they simply don't idk about you but diablo 3's combat feels like shit once you hit 45-60, as most of it at that point isn't about the meaty attacks, but just the dodge and poke shit whereas in torchlight 2 (and 1 to a lesser extent) it feels fucking great to get a kill, the enemy animations reflect that and the gibs are comically oversized to make it just feel better and about the grind, yeah arpgs main focus is to get more rare items and shit, but d3 drops them so little that you don't want to play on, and the little drops that you do get suck complete donkey assholes, where, again, in tl2, most drops are actually really good and are much more varied
um actually most of the drops in the TL2 beta were shit and the itemization was shit but I guess they've apparently fixed that but unless you've played it I don't see how you can say "TL2 itemization is great"

The combat though is great in my opinion. Everything is responsive and just feels and sounds good. Maybe it's just monk, the only class I got to 60.
PoE is garbage
Eh, everyone seems like it should be good on paper, but something just feels wrong about it when I play.

In inferno it gets a bit too kitey but in Hell it really was perfect and was probably the most fun I had playing an ARPG. [editline]21st August 2012[/editline]
Eh, everyone seems like it should be good on paper, but something just feels wrong about it when I play.
well they are planning a combat patch so maybe that'll fix things.

I HAVE OTHERS! IT WASN'T EVEN A GOOD RIFT ANYWAY! I'M NOT EVEN MAD, SO YOU CAN JUST STOP DESTROYING THEM IF YOU THINK IT'S GOING TO MAKE ME MAD, BECAUSE IT WON'T!"
