Because that's socialism.

And socialism is for communists.
Heck I'd even take the password off my wireless router and let others use that if I knew they would use it respectfully.
Same, but I know people will use it for piracy or cp, so I don't share.
i also like that he was charged with having a concealed weapon for having a pocket knife
fuck off, it's not england.
living on the street certainly necessitates having a pocket knife at the very least
Obviously he intended to use the knife to violently murder someone. :v:
To keep in contact with all his homeless buddies.
"Shaun where u at"
"Bangor"
"bangor i hardly knew her"
"lol that joke never gets old"
Why does he have phones if he's homeless?
A phone is significantly cheaper than a house last I checked.
God Bless America....
Actually he probably has phones from trash picking, my uncle was homeless at one point and he would collect tons of phones and try to sell them at the local pawnshop, electronics recycling center, and so on.

They are?

Fuck that. It was a downtown business, they have enough cash to run the fucking place as is. An extra $20 on their bills isn't going to hurt them.

Because we don't live in physics fairytale land.

20 dollars a month amounts to 240 dollars a year, that doesn't sound good at all.
That's not necessarily sad. There's this thing called Voluntary Homelessness, people sometimes become homeless by choice, even if they have the knowledge and physical ability to get a job, get money, buy a house, etc. They mostly decide to be homeless due to their disbelief in society, or perhaps the "system" or "the man" if you favor the stereotypical stigma of young anarchists and self proclaimed socialists/communists, some also despise what our current society has become, (too dependent on materialism, giant corporation get away with various crimes, a lot of distractions from real issues, etc, all the usual Orwellian stuff) and so from their lack of determination to be successful at jobs, they eventually run out of money and somewhere along the way also lose the trust of friends and family until eventually becoming homeless by choice.
Kind of like in Fight Club where you saw Tyler living in this rotten and abandoned house yet still managed to be (somewhat) happy with himself? Yeah, this guy could be one of those people. Not saying this guy is necessarily one of those guys but usually homeless people are middle aged men who perhaps lost their job, their spouse, or had the misfortune of some tragedy to break their connections with family members who might have helped them financially and offer a roof to sleep under, or even worse, all the above at the same time.
This was a far more enlightening post than I first thought two paragraphs were going to be.
I think the maine problem here is that society just keeps phoning it in when it comes to helping the homeless, it's time we charged the system with helping these people instead of condemning them to the metaphorical cell of their own painful existence
I mean with no outlets for their creativity they just won't have the capacity to be a conductive member of society
oops I mean productive
What's sad is that he is homeless at 23
Not if it's like 'Into the Wild'
God Bless America....
Not all of America is like this.

Do you know that charging the cellphone fully costs few cents at max?
A folding knife is considered a concealed weapon in Maine?
The fuck? It's just a tool.
It isn't so I'm a bit confused. It's only illegal to conceal bowie knifes, dirks, and stilettos and other deadly weapons. I guess they are arguing he was carrying a deadly weapon.
This isn't huge news to me, the cops here are all asses, remember the kid that didn't get his diploma because he bounced a fucking beach ball at his graduation? Yeah. Also, a folding knife is a tool.
