Because it's irrelevant. You're using the service to play games, not find a fuck buddy. Especially given the fact that Xbox Live is populated with dumbass teenagers and fratboys.
So putting that you are straight in your profile should result in a ban yes?
So putting that you are straight in your profile should result in a ban yes?
I don't need to know if someone is gay or straight if I want to play a fucking video game with them over the Internet.
The girl case was justified. No one should know or care about your sexual preferences in a service for gaming. This case on the other hand is terrible, seeing as it's a real place
How the hell is that justified? Live is a social networking type experience as well, why shouldn't she have the ability to post her sexuality? [editline]07:08PM[/editline]
I don't need to know if someone is gay or straight if I want to play a fucking video game with them over the Internet.
Then don't look at their profiles, there, done.
I don't need to know if someone is gay or straight if I want to play a fucking video game with them over the Internet.
See, what you're failing to do is answer my question. Nothing you've posted as a response to me tells me why putting one's sexual orientation is grounds for being banned from the service. You're not justifying it at all, just saying you personally don't care.
I heard of someone being banned from Xbox Live for having their real name in their Gamer Tag: Richard Gaywood.
Microsoft should give him a free month or something just for suspending his accounts for a few days.
He proved that it was his real name, too.
If I remember correctly... Last year a girl got banned for listing herself as lesbian for sexuality.
Bill Gates is a homophobe.

[editline]07:08PM[/editline] Then don't look at their profiles, there, done.
Because it's their company. They can do what they want with it. If they don't like the heat that they might get from certain words being allowed, then they can block them and everyone else can deal with it. I don't see what the big deal is.
doesn't microsoft realize they're only promoting homophobia by banning the word gay? oh wait its microsoft

Microsoft have enough drama to deal with, and wish to minimise the potential for harassment.
I don't need to know if someone is gay or straight if I want to play a fucking video game with them over the Internet.
So? why does that make it ban worthy? It's obvious Microsoft isn't banning them for displaying useless information, otherwise 95% of anyone who has edited their profile would be banned. Your apparent hate for knowing somebodies sexual orientation while playing video games with them has nothing to do with anything, why are you even mentioning it.
If I remember correctly... Last year a girl got banned for listing herself as lesbian for sexuality.
Why would anybody really need to, besides the obvious of being an attention-whore? I mean, really, this isn't Facebook, it's a gaming platform.
Why would anybody really need to, besides the obvious of being an attention-whore? I mean, really, this isn't Facebook, it's a gaming platform.
My thoughts exactly.
Why would anybody really need to, besides the obvious of being an attention-whore? I mean, really, this isn't Facebook, it's a gaming platform.
While that may be true, it's still not ban worthy. They could give her a warning.
While that may be true, it's still not ban worthy. They could give her a warning.
I don't agree with the ban, but if she hadn't tried to be an attention whore, she wouldn't have gotten banned. Although, a warning would've been better.
._. Retyping, Chrome failed at posting. This is a bit late. The reason microsoft was suspending accounts for having terms of sexuality on their page was not to be homophobic it was to protect the users from being harassed. Since then microsoft has unbanned this mans account and issued an apology to the town and the user. They now allow terms of gay,bi,lesbian, and transgender on their user pages.
It shouldn't have mattered because they changed the policy to allow open expression of what sexuality you are. Apparently the employee did not get the memo. [editline]08:17PM[/editline] Ninja'd
Fucking xbox and Microsoft whenever i play MW2, i always put in GAY as clan tag to piss off fucking noobs and homophobes/virgins and to just hear all the shit talk online :jerkbag:
Another reason why I play on PC.
It's also another reason I like Nintendo. On the Wii, your gamertag is something like 19365939. Aren't numbers grand? :v:
Why would anybody really need to, besides the obvious of being an attention-whore? I mean, really, this isn't Facebook, it's a gaming platform.
"i'm gay. no i won't sleep with you. stop asking"
2 days later since I saw this in the paper, and I have to deal with the other two in my industry, both Sony and Apple are having a field day about MS's attitude. Off topic, and I apologize if this is out of line, ironically at this time, I just happened to end up watching actress Julianne Moore, have full frontal, uncensored female on female action with Amanda Seyfreid (Letters to Juliet, Dear John) I did not realize it would, but I think it disturbed me, maybe it was because she is old enough to be her mother, I think, but maybe for the same reason I ended up fast forwarding is why Microsoft got so annal and did not want to double check, because they could not accept the fact Fort Gay was true? I mean,in the retail market songs with the word gay are still played over the air, and no controversy arises whatsoever. So the hell was the problem? A similar issue of this xbox live thing happened with a pbs tv show about Buster,(from the cartoon Arthur who meets a real girl that has two moms. The goal they had was to educate kids properly about the issue, and the word, but some specific states stations of pbs were not happy about the real (not animated) footage that was shown, and did not even air the show.
How the hell is having "Fort Gay" as your town a bannable offense in the first place? Is gay really that bad of a word to them?
ITS FABULOUS! Microshaft isn't
Funny thing is, he would probably fail but he could have sued them for falsely suspending him.
And that's why political correctness shouldn't be higher priority than common sense.
