Pretty disgusting to think that this pompous ass is willing to have people die for his "Art"
Putting the word "art" in quotations when referring to art that you dislike does not make it not art.
Putting the word "art" in quotations when referring to art that you dislike does not make it not art.
Is it artistic to watch someone die?
Is it artistic to watch someone die?
Are rhetorical questions and hyperbolic statements an argument? The point of the film is not "people dying."
Are rhetorical questions and hyperbolic statements an argument? The point of the film is not "people dying."
The point of the film is irrelevant. Needless killing for the simple draw of attention is a disgusting way to put forth a movie and is unjustifiable.
The point of the film is irrelevant.
The point of the movie is what's being argued. You are saying it's not art because it's "pointless killing."
The point of the movie is what's being argued.
Your avoiding the question. How does a movie being about art justify unnecessary deaths for the soul purpose of the director's ego?
Your avoiding the question. How does a movie being about art justify unnecessary deaths for the soul purpose of the director's ego?
I don't know, nor does anybody else, as that question has absolutely nothing to do with the topic at hand. The director is not filming a gang fight to boost his ego.
I don't know, nor does anybody else, as that question has absolutely nothing to do with the topic at hand. The director is not filming a gang fight to boost his ego.
It has everything to do with the topic at hand. What could you possibly say that would justify taking lives for the sheer purpose of a scene in an "art" movie?
It has everything to do with the topic at hand. What could you possibly say that would justify taking lives for the sheer purpose of a scene in an "art" movie?
The director is not "taking lives." He is filming a gang fighting. It's no different than a documentary crew filming a gang fight.
The director is not "taking lives." He is filming a gang fighting. The twist is they want the two gangs to fight, using real knives. The production team is panicked that they'll end up with blood, injuries and potentially dead bodies on set."
how do you choreograph a fight?
Franco did the Oscars faded as hell gg :350:
this is some pretty fucked up stuff i dont care if it's going to inevitably happen to some street gang, if you find pride and joy in watching real people tear at each other then there's something very wrong with you
the point isn't to have pride and joy watching real people fight fyi [editline]28th February 2011[/editline]
It's disgusting to think that this pompous ass is willing to have people die for his "Art"
pompous? not at all
Didn't he do a sketch of this on snl?
the point isn't to have pride and joy watching real people fight fyi
It is unnecessary and is merely a plea for attention.
I'm pretty sure there is some kind of law to prevent this... After all, they are inciting murders.
how do you choreograph a fight?
Ever watch West Side Story?
It is unnecessary and is merely a plea for attention.
well it isn't necessary to have my desk be blue it isn't necessary to have a computer with firefox on it it isn't necessary to watch any movie at all as if just because something is unnecessary it means you shouldn't do it, bullshit... come back when you don't have gigantic overblown pretensions about what you think art is supposed to be and i'm gonna stop you right here with the "IF I SHIT ALL OVER A PIECE OF PAPER IS THAT ART" you can go away because yeah that is art deal with it
well it isn't necessary to have my desk be blue it isn't necessary to have a computer with firefox on it it isn't necessary to watch any movie at all as if just because something is unnecessary it means you shouldn't do it, bullshit... come back when you don't have gigantic overblown pretensions about what you think art is supposed to be and i'm gonna stop you right here with the "IF I SHIT ALL OVER A PIECE OF PAPER IS THAT ART" you can go away because yeah that is art deal with it
Are you seriously comparing on screen death to the colour of a desk? I knew Facepunch had sociopaths but that is pretty damn ridiculous.
Are you seriously comparing on screen death to the colour of a desk? I knew Facepunch had sociopaths but that is pretty damn ridiculous.
you're twisting my words. you said it was unnecessary and i said a lot of things are unnecessary but does that mean it shouldn't be done?
you're twisting my words. you said it was unnecessary and i said a lot of things are unnecessary but does that mean it shouldn't be done?
I cannot actually put into words how inconcievably dumb that statement you made was. I honestly do try to take both sides into consideration but this is one of the most blatantly ill thought out things I have heard. Your comparison is that since both the killing in this film and desktop themes are unnecessary that they are similar in moral value. You then sided with the colouring of your desk to cover all unnecessary things in life. And even disregarding that, you seem to be under the notion that we all must abide to complete absolutes in regards to whether unnecessary things should or shouldn't be done.
Your comparison is that since both the killing in this film and desktop themes are unnecessary that they are similar in moral value.
that's not the fucking point, you are still twisting my words what you used as a qualification for it being wrong is that it is unnecessary. i wasn't aware we were having a conversation about morality. i didn't know you judged morals based on how necessary something is. now i'll ask again, why is necessity important when it comes to a movie like this?
that's not the fucking point, you are still twisting my words what you used as a qualification for it being wrong is that it is unnecessary. i wasn't aware we were having a conversation about morality. i didn't know you judged morals based on how necessary something is. now i'll ask again, why is necessity important when it comes to a movie like this?
You are implying that anywhere in that statement I said that morals are deemed only by necessity. In your prior statement however you compared minor aesthetic choices to on screen deaths under the guise of them both being unnecessary therefore they are both of equal value or that we must abide by absolutes in that we must allow everything unnecessary or nothing unnecessary.

Isn't he the one who directed Trash Humpers?
What the fuck is being argued here?
Whether it's necessary for this director to have actual deaths on scene.
Whether it's necessary for this director to have actual deaths on scene.
I would imagine it's necessary for what the director is trying to convey.
I would imagine it's necessary for what the director is trying to convey.
Must be a shit director if he has to have people actually die on scene in order to convey a message.
Must be a shit director if he has to have people actually die on scene in order to convey a message.
Not really.
Yup, I was right.
I would imagine it's necessary for what the director is trying to convey.
And the message behind this snuff film would be?
