• New Pokemon Go Update bars all Rooted and Jailbroken devices from playing the game

Botters and spoofers really sucked the fun out of the game for me. At some point it was almost impossible to discuss the game without a legion of botters and spoofers hijacking the discussion, laughing at you for actually going out and walking, while they collected all their illegitimate godpokes during their sleep. Even on twitch, the majority of streamers were outright botting and telling other people how to cheat. It was so sad.
No, I guess I don't know what I'm talking about. I had no idea bots were that advanced for this game. I was mainly referring to GPS spoofing, which I honestly don't think needs any downplaying. It's a non-issue.
Yeah the bots are pretty powerful, and easy to obtain/use as well. I used one out of curiosity, and had it run for a couple days. It reached level 31, and obtained 115/151 Pokemon each having over 1,000 candies. That was without fine-tuning the settings/enabling sniping. There's just no way for a normal/dedicated player to compete with that.
Phone verification won't do much because of things like google voice, and making it non-ftp would cut out a huge segment of their market
CS:GO Prime blocks Google Voice. Niantic would think about blocking such services.
yeah good luck trying to bar rooted android phones since there's a million different bypasses to get around stupid blocks
It's using Google's SafetyNet API, and not standard stupid root check. There's (virtually) no way around that, and Google is playing a winning game of wack-a-mole. [editline]11th September 2016[/editline]
CS:GO Prime blocks Google Voice. They'll be forced to make an exception for you. Just don't abuse it and fuck it up for us actual Fi users.

Hell, you can run dozens of bots from the same connection without appearing overtly suspicious if you have multiple IPv6 addresses.
