but if games started focusing on having much more different types of animations for even just one action, such as jumping over a wall in multiple ways or even as simple as holding a gun in different ways as different people would in real life, it would seem much more realistic
This is the reason I was in so much more awe over the graphics in the Max Payne 3 trailer than any of the Battlefield 3 trailers. The textures could look like utter ass, but the animations are some of the best I've seen, and that makes it all that much more graphically realistic than any other game.
holy crap what settings are those
ultra high maximum settings

on a console port of it?
Did you take a picture of your screen with your cell phone?
I love ARMA 2.
Looks like pretty low settings along with 50% 3d resolution or something. (notice the text and reticle being normal res)
As the latest generation of computer war games are so realistic, he wondered, perhaps the next sufferers of post-traumatic stress disorder (PTSD) may not even have left their bedrooms.
Getting PTSD from video games is as retarded as getting PTSD from paintball.
The main problem with video games is the lack of model variety and as previously stated animation variety. One good start is animation blending, which Arma 3 will be have, so varied animations for the same actions will be easier to implement, but Arma games suffer terribly from lack of model variety, mostly in environment design.
You'll immediately start noticing the same buildings, walls, towers, mud huts, etc. Ends up looking very plain and practically the only landscape based environments Arma supports are rolling hills. Cliffs and heavy inclines must be model based, and detail on the terrain itself must also be model based. AKA you can't blend mud scrapes n shit into the terrain without adding static models everywhere.
It's called euphoria.
You guys seem to forget that you cant just slap euphoria on a game and have amazing physics. You need a seperate engine to run euphoria with. Kinda like how rockstar has R.A.G.E
I think if you had never played video games (or ones that claim to have realistic graphics anyway) you might struggle to tell the difference.
That or perhaps your old faded eyes can't make out the GLARINGLY OBVIOUS due to being so blinded by rage at the idea of video games emulating your days in 'nam.
That and the dust raised from your ancient parchmentesque flesh as you shake your cane in rage is obscuring your vision.
