Ukraine is starting to look a lot like like Syria. Not good at all.

Interrupting your visit would be the biggest tragedy of all
Id rather go and not have to worry about being in the middle of a public uprising.
Makes sense after stuff this cop was seriously injured and left to die by the rioters:

Isn't the Turkish military historically secular and to keep shit like this from happening? If so I hope they step in soon if their leaders haven't been outed.
Good, glad they are allowed to charge back, I am from Ukraine myself (but luckly live in Ireland now) - people deserve it, they asked for it by striking and throwing molotovs last night at riot police who just stand there and can't do anything about it.
Hope half of the scumbags who are trying to provoke forces to attack will get shot - at least they tried to provoke them and suceeded in their goal.
So you're in favor of being controlled by a dictatorship and sucking their dicks whenever they tell you to? Nice to know. Nice to know you want people to be shot for fighting against said dictatorship.

Yeah, the Turkish military will save Kyiv! I think you got the wrong thread.

Fucking polar opposites... I enjoyed seeing those pictures of the riot police keeping shit civil, I was seriously hoping it'd stay a peaceful protest.
It's 2014, why do we still have barbaric nations.
Edit: a whole lot of barbarians in this thread.
It's 2014, why do we still have barbaric nations.
Ukraine isn't barbaric.
It's in political and social turmoil, but by no stretch is it "barbaric."

Do you expect protesters sit there and get beaten by police?
It's 2014, why do we still have barbaric nations.
Like the UK doesn't have barbaric people...?

been a while since I last followed this but last time I checked I didn't see any protesters getting beat up, did they?
In any case, I wouldn't expect protestors to get their heads caved in. As I said last thing I remember is that the police didn't even put up any effort to stop the protestors from barricading the government offices.

If Ukraine is barbaric then the US, UK, etc are barbaric too.
Hate to play devils advocate here, but they can still use rubber bullets in those fire arms
Rubber bullets are about on par with shooting at people with birdshot.
They aren't really "less than lethal" they just aren't as lethal as fmj or buckshot. They have a very high propensity for breaking bones, causing brain damage or blinding people.
Yeah, the Turkish military will save Kyiv! I think you got the wrong thread.
I think I did.

Uhhh there has been police brutality towards the protesters ever since it started.

Unfortunately, violence is necessary for the Ukrainian people at this point, thanks to the Enabling Act. The Ukrainian government and law enforcement has WAY overstepped its boundaries.
[editline]20th January 2014[/editline]
These people are literally fighting for their democratic rights.

Do we have any Ukrainian users on FP? I haven't seen any post in any of these SH threads but it'd be interesting to see what they see.
I hate to say it, but this might still be in vain. Even the population is divided on the subject, which hardly helps anyone.

I have family in Kiev, it doesn't really bother them that much. The average people who just want to get through the day are not really affected by this.

Except Kiev's downtown, nothing is happening anywhere. We have Euromaidan branch tents in major cities where you can donate clothes and stuff for protesters, other than that, nothing. I live in a major city in the west, and if not for the news/euromaidan tent in downtown I wouldn't even knew something is happening. Watching the videos in OP makes me scared, because I'm sitting here, playing vidya, going on walks with friends, etc, while in Kiev, just a few hundred kilometers away, war is raging.
Holy shit, that horde of people armed with (wooden?) swords and shields was something out of medieval times. Then explosions. What the fuck is going on over there?
Shit got real, that's what's going on.
