Gurkha who repelled Taliban attack gets bravery medal

Can't imagine what the Taliban were thinking. They were expecting to storm this place and ended up getting beaten with a tripod.
Iunno, Medal of Honor still sounds pretty fucking amazing.
Especially when you grow up with the Original games :v:
I've always wondered that, I doubt that none of these things happen to American troops, maybe they don't get proper commendation where they are due though?
British seems to be better prepared for close combat encounters. Or perhaps they are taught to use whatever you have to defend yourself.
Or all that is imaginary and US troops are just not as good news.
War heroes in middle-east
Britain - 1
Nepal - 1
America - 0
v:v:v
Edit:
Btw
Gurkhas: Warrior tradition guys from Nepal and northern india who serve for example in Indian and british gurkha brigades.

I think this is more because the gurkhas have honor codes and probably harsher training than some young guys recruited into the british army for a peace keeping operation.
My dad use to have a Gurkha body guard. He gave him a Kukri. The thing is sharp as fuck.

Feels like most stuff about the British is about Gurkhas. I remember an article about them cutting off a taliban leaders head and another one where a Gurkha fought off and killed several thieves (was in India I think).

2 in Mogadishu, 4 in Iraq, 4 in Afghanistan.

I dunno the British themsevles have some pretty good feats but they dont match the sheer badass and bravery of the Gurkhas.
I thinks its because they dont give a shit about what will happen to there career if they do the "controversial" things they do, they care more about what they are actually fighting for.

Nah, I wont respect an american.
Insurgent tries to climb up to his position and his weapon fails, sounds like something out of a movie, I would have thought he'd have a knife at least, or a bayonet, guess the tripod did the job though.

Oh, I forgot Somalia was in the middle east!
And I think the reason is the amount of publicity each side gets, this may only be local news in the US, as its such a big place in comparison. And technically the Gurkhas are British, they get citizenship after joining the army.
Come get some
Nah, I wont respect an american.
That's an intelligent thing to say.

Somalia is essentially part of the middle east.

The only time American soldiers get publicity in Nation-wide news shows is if they died doing something extraordinary. Rarely ever is the death toll ever stated. During Michael Jackson's death, quite a few soldiers died, and during the 2 weeks the world decided it loved Michael Jackson, nothing was ever said about them. Truly pathetic.

Those GPMG tripods are bloody heavy, I think it was a heat of the moment thing where the logical tool was out of the question and just hit them with anything they could.
Like in saving private ryan where he throws his helmet at another soldier.
Why was it necesarry to say that he's nepalese? Isn't he a british soldier just like the rest? this just sounds like bad journalism for an epic story, where they take the focus off the individual and more on his nationality/race, and he's going to not be known as "The man who got a bravery medal", he will be known as "The Gurkha who got a bravery medal"
Nah, I wont respect an american.
Death to the American swine! Kill all capitalist American imperialists! Their evil nation must be erased from history and thrown into the fires of victory! Huzzah! Death to the Americans!

Because Gurkhas are badass. If Japan had an elite fighting force of Ninjas they wouldn't say Japanese man defeats whole army by himself. They'd say a fuckin' ninja defeated a whole army by himself.
That has got to be the shittiest moment of FUCKING FUCK SHIT GOD DAMNIT when an insurgent is advancing on you and your rifle dies.

Gurkhas carry Kukris.

But I guess you don't want to throw that at some one, you might need it later.
What's a gurkha?
'Before they kill me I have to kill some.'
And he was all out of gum.

Wouldn't they have to cut themselves after that photo unless they were ACTUALLY READY TO KILL SOME SHIT.
That guy is fucking awesome.
I've never heard of Ghurkas before, but this fellow sounds like the last person in the world I would want to fuck with.

What if I ask nicely?

One lived to receive it, that's about the only thing you can possibly do than doing something deserving of the merit that's more badass.
You know someone is completely fucking awesome when they use a fucking machine gun bipod as a weapon.

Really? They are pretty much legendary, they are troops who originate from Nepal who are part of the British armed forces.
They are the bravest of the brave and have been Britians greatest troops for many years.
