I wouldn't say the fact that most of them are muslims are what really makes those countries so homophobic, rather, it's the fact that religious beliefs largely play into the government, and that they nearly rule over them. doesn't help that there's no sign of them changing anything any time soon, as far as i'm aware. but you aren't incorrect, however i feel some would take it the wrong way.
Look man, I wouldn't mind going to hang with some real people over there that want to change their government, play heavy metal, or are just generally normal people integrating into the modern world, but this whole process of somehow filtering from clearly defined islamic values from fundamentalist muslims to make them seem like just a government problem is getting abit silly. Like I really hope things were going more secular for them, but the statistics and world events indicate alot of countries rather go further into theocracies.
FlashMarsh, I'm really sorry for going full retard. A lot of booze was involved, and it brought out my slumbering thisispain. Yes, I thought that was a perfectly good idea. I don't know what your problem is, lose your shitty attitude.
My problem is the shitty staff like you. [editline]13th June 2016[/editline]
...are you saying clock boy was "legitimately accused of terrorism"? Seriously?
Yeah. Someone doesn't walk out in cuffs if they've not been accused of terrorism because it sure as shit wasn't for littering. (User was permabanned for this post ("Doesn't belong here.
Yeah. Someone doesn't walk out in cuffs if they've not been accused of terrorism because it sure as shit wasn't for littering.
?? Yeah he was accused by Islamophobic idiots, what's your point?
It's like that thing in the UK where Pakistanis had been sexually abusing children and no-one wanted to step up and stop it because they were afraid of being called racist.
That was mostly bollocks iirc. Fear of appearing racist was a small part of the failures identified in a report that went on for pages about underfunding, sheer incompetence from management, staff not giving a shit, lack of communication, lack of training, children above the age of 11 given far lower priority even in cases of sexual abuse etc. May well have been at least partially just truly worthless, incompetent to the point of harmful staff covering up their own failures when they started feeling the heat of investigation. iirc there were cases of that amongst the police, but it's been a while since I read the report in it's entirety.
Wait what... how? I mean I don't doubt what you say is true because of some disturbing things that go down there, like some Afghan soldiers being accused of raping things regardless of gender; but how the hell do they enforce that? Homosexuality is banned, but same sex intercourse isn't. Do they just like randomly make exceptions for certain people or something? Edit: Maybe I misinterpreted that. Is there some sort of difference between "the Islamic world" and "Muslim-majority" countries? Thought both of them would have implemented Sharia Law and stoned people regardless.
This is according to Wikipedia. https://en.m.wikipedia.org/wiki/LGBT_in_Islam Mobile link due to being at work. There obviously is a difference. [editline]14th June 2016[/editline]
What the fuck [editline]13th June 2016[/editline] Nice black and white thinking, you know who else thinks like that?
Regardles of what anyone else thinks, there is no place in this world for homophobia which is basically what the quran practices.
Nice black and white thinking, you know who else thinks like that?
The quran?

[editline]14th June 2016[/editline] Regardles of what anyone else thinks, there is no place in this world for homophobia which is basically what the quran practices.
The quran practices? So the book physically goes out... to my knowledge Islam works by the Islam or mullah interpreting the Quran and preaching it. The Muslim who might already be fairly reactionary or conservative, goes to their imam ( who might also be conservative/reactionary) who confirms their previously held beliefs. You don't have to be Muslim to hate gays, sadly homophobia is shill fairly widespread even in our modern culture, doesn't help that lots of those conservative preachers are exported by Saudi Arabia with the intention of reaffirming people's backwards beliefs. To solve the issue we need to make sure that preachers aren't nuts
Jesus christ the amount of racism in this thread is disgusting wtf
Friendly reminder that Muslims aren't a race/ethnicity and Islamophobia is not the same as racism.
The quran?
Such black and white thinking would be shared by fundimentalists from Islam, other abramic religious and probably any religion. Along with extremist secular ideologies like nazism.
For the user above, it actually does matter if they execute people for homosexuality or not. It is a night and day difference. Should I point to the numerous active yet 'non-used' sodomy laws in Western states? They are in the books, but not used.
So that makes it all okay, right? We should just keep every racist, sexist, homophobic, and otherwise simply bigoted laws on the books because, oh, we don't use them? You are aware that people have been arrested for the crime of "resisting arrest" right? Bad laws on the books (or in that case, ambiguous laws that can be abused) are not something you want around, that's fucking retarded.
FlashMarsh addressed this and pulled out pertinent examples from Iran which carried out the death penalty for sodomy. However, it seems even in Iran there have been at most 3-4 executions in the past 10 years. This is a major shift from the hundreds of executions per year following the Islamic Revolution indicating they are phasing out of capital punishment for sodomy.
... That's not what it indicates at all. It just means they're executing less people (which is still a number greater than zero by the way!) for a bullshit "crime." Could it be that in lieu of executions they're making "sodomites" get sex change operations instead? Did that ever cross your mind?
